How do you feel when your beloved pet is ill?

Yesterday, Sarah (my beautiful black Labrador) woke up blind from what I assume was one hell of a bash to the head. She's recovering slowly and her vision gradually returning, abate blurry at first, so I've taken to reading the three Dragon Age novels besides her as she rests.

^o)

Needles to say, given the bond between myself and her is incredably strong, I've been somewhat of an emotional wreck...

:-/

But this got myself to wondering how others cope when their pets are ill, to whatever extent. And how well do you cope with a pets passing? I'd love to hear how you cope in such dire times.

I'm very sorry to hear of this terrible happening, and my condolences to you, friend. I've never had a pet to lose, but I have lost companions, and I'm sure it is similar. Whenever faced with grief, my thoughts and pondering always wether the pain. I hope the best for you and your pet, and may you find peace in the end.

Thank you for the condolences, and you have mine in return for your losses. I've lost quite a lot of family and pets over the years, and studied much to know that it's not who you loose, but how close you were to them that determines the emotional toll.

-_-

Thankfully I've grown more adept a coping with such dark times over the years, even when the emotions churn like a turbulant ocean during a storm. I've also grown my knowledge of how to apply herbal remidies over the years...studies that have proved most useful, time and again.

Damn Vosoros, I'm sad to hear that. My dog I had as a kid, Mathias, developed arthritis and near blindness in his old age and eventually had to be put down. I was the only one in the house who really objected but I've softened with the years. So I feel sympathy for your predicament with your Labrador. And I hope she appreciates the affection you show to her. :)

It's a sucky life, and just when you think it can't suck anymore...

*grrrrrrr* Bloody incompitent vets! I'm now sure that a series of bad diagnosis and pescription of drugs has cause all new hell for my dog. I'm sure the vet's caused gastritis (spelling?) and wreaked havock on her stomach with contrindications of unnecessary drugs. Now, with her sight back (which it turns out would have cleared of it's own accord in her case), additional "medications" have caused profuse vomiting and drinking...which didn't happen until the latest drug proscription.

:-/

I've had to stop all "treatments" and begun my own herbal remadies of peppermint and ginger tea to calm the stomach and digestive tract and cleanse it of any bacterial microbes, etc.

Right now, I hate life!

The ginger will definitely help with the gastro problem but I would tell your veterinarian that you are getting side effects from the medication.

This "bad vet" is not one for listening...and when she does merely provides another drung with similar or same contraidications. Needless to say I'll be seeking a new vet, but you should see my sweet girl finally relaxed and her stomach problems (evidently) easing.

^o)

Nice, in one way, to hear you understand such things. You have my heart-felt sympathy for the loss of all the dogs who've enriched your life...I know the feeling well sadly.

All I want for christmas is my dog health and well again...and with my approach to her health, it looks like my wish has been granted. Life is suddenly wonderful again!
