We all have a pet thing that we wish could be in more videogames. Yes we do. Stop arguing with me. Wether it be bullets, bras or bullet bras, we all have an idea of a thing which should just be in all games because it will literally make it ten times better guys I swear. It may be a favourite mechanic, or it may be a favourite storyline, or it may be a favourite weapon: there are just some things that are just too good not to be shared. Perhaps it's more audio logs a la System Shock 2, or maybe a customizable character option. Or maybe it's just a lack of chainsaws. So what do you think should be in more games? What do you think most games sorely lack and you would just love to see more of? FOR ME: It would have to be more Welsh accents in videogames. Everytime I hear a Welsh accent in a videogame I make a little squeal with delight. But really, how many Welsh accents are there in games? A NOT REALLY COMPREHENSIVE LIST OF WELSH ACCENTS: 1. Merril, from DA2 2. Sabine, from Fable 3. Um....that one captain from SWTOR, what's his name, uhhhh... 4. Er...... So you can see that Welsh accents are unfairly lacking in most games, and think of all the benefits they could bring too. Like,....more male voice choirs and.....Valleys Accents IN SPACE......uhhhh. ANYWAY there should be more of them. But what do you think? What thing you love should more games have? Edited by Penguins4Freedom, Aug 18 2013, 05:19 PM.

Well-written and fully developed romance plots. Even Mass Effect was kind of hit-or-miss on this, and a lot of games just...tack it on, like they're going down a checklist. |

But what TYPE of dogs? Do you want more games with slobbery St. Bernards? I think not!
Yawn. Yes yes the pope is catholic, bears shit in the woods and games need better writing. Not that I disagree, I agree completely that games need more original modern storylines and pathos, but perhaps you could elaborate on what you mean by originality or story focus? I imagine game writing has it's own challenges and pitfalls, it certainly is not a pursuit that seems to be natural for auteurs.

I also agree with Gir here. Romances are not always naturally developed and are often feel tacked on, stale and trite. But I have to wonder what the best way to approach romance from a gaming perspective? Do you give the player more agency in who they choose or less? How much of a game do you portion off for romance subplots; I imagine it would be a nightmare to elegantly weave it into the main storyline. As a secret lover of trashy romance novels, I DEMAND ANSWERS!
Are you saying that not enough videogames are fun, Tora?

Dogs, dogs are more dogs. That's why I refuse to play the latest incarnation of The Sims until it has dogs in it with an expansion pack...or dare I say, from the get-go with The Sims 4? Let's see, what else? More realisim...oh yes indeed-io. Fallout New Vegas made me squeal with delight with the hardcore mode atop of the difficultly level settings. Actually, I was peaved when Skyrim lacked this very wonderul feature given it was the same developers. And finally, where are penguins in games? Especially those seeking their freedom...

More attention to the story, is what I meant, so we don't end up with 6 hours of plot hole riddled gameplay. |
