So if you haven't heard the US government have shutdown thanks to the Republicans not showing up at all, and signing a thing to stop. with this everyone in the government but not the Big Ceos, and the senators, representatives, and the president aren't paid. Alongside with the a lot of the government programs like the FDA, and NASA . So I thought I stir this up so lets be civilized and to you people not american because I'm lazy enough to not write your nationalities but I respect everyone's view. So lets have a civilized discussion about the biggest political bullshit pulled by the republicans now. |

So what I think right now that it's the cheapest way for Republicans to win by making people suffer through this shutdown which having a republican perspective this is the biggest bullshit in history. People aren't being fed, and instead of laying out the budget the Republicans say they are at a table for "comprimise" when half of them are watching FUCKING "Gravity" which I hear is good, but the reasons are terrible. AND THEY HAVE DONE THIS SINCE MINUTE 1 OF THE SHUTDOWN SINCE THEY GOT MADE FUN OF BY "THE COLBERT REPORT", and every other news show. Plus the other half while at the "table of comprimise" they have spouted dribble two weeks ago of Obama's tyranny of not allowing kids into the white house, and guess what they still are all over FOX. |

Yeah. The whole situation is ridiculous, and now they are toying with not raising the debt ceiling. Both parties are generally corrupt and in the pocket of wall street, but the Republican party really seems to be trying to screw the U.S. over beyond all reason. |

The funny thing is that it was passed. Over three years ago. Three. Years. Ago. One of the big reasons congress has been so inept is because the Republican controlled House keeps trying (and failing) to de-fund/repeal it. But now they aren't just being incompetent, they're being actively detrimental to the well being of the people they're supposed to be serving. People are starving. People are dying. This is insanity, and it's disgusting. |

To be honest, it's not like all the republicans are holding the US hostage. It really is that powerful select few, in the forefront, and the men behind the curtains, that are pulling most of the strings. However, it really is just a test of endurance for the democrats. The powerful people are really being little children, seeing how far they can test their parents. The democrats know this, and when october 17th comes around they'll have to retract, because if not, they'll literally be shooting themselves in the Sadly, their temper tandrum is costing jobs, and will probably indirectly ruin someone's life. All swearing that this is for the FREEDOM of the AMERICAN PEOPLE and BY THE WILL OF GOD, JESUS AND THE HOLY SPIRIT we will ENSURE THE SAFETY OF OUR PEOPLE. You can make a speech that says absolutely nothing too with stockphrases.com.

Honestly it's horrific, and I'm sure plenty of people if this goes to far will pull out a page from the decleration stating: New Government.... I mean it;s rediculous, and the republicans still think they are helping "us" when they have missed so many foreign relation meetings with the World WHICH ARE CRUCIAL, and it's literally signed by them. I hope the Democrats can come up with something to smooth the bastards minds cause it's fucking rediculous, and they are being sore losers, and they know it. |

Wasn't going to chime in, but I figure this thread needs some opinions from the other end of the spectrum. Now, let me start by making it clear I do NOT approve of what the Republicans in Congress are doing now, it is counter-productive and only seeks to make them seem worse, and sadden me. However, I do want to note that they are not doing this just to be a bunch of children, and actually have the country's interests at heart. There are two main arguments coming from Conservatives as to why they are keeping the government on lock-down. The first, which I don't really understand, goes something like this. Since Obamacare requires all American citizens to have healthcare, many believe this violates our rights by forcing us to buy health insurance, and is a step towards socialism. Honestly, I don't understand this one, but there you go. The 2nd argument makes more sense to me. The Affordable Care Act has measures in place to give subsidies to those who cannot afford health insurance so they can buy this. It's a nice thought, the problem is, we cannot exactly afford said subsidies at the current moment. As a result, many Republicans-myself included-believe that while this isn't in itself a bad idea, it's coming at the worse possible time, and will only worsen the nation economically at a time when we should be trying to cut costs and bring down the debt. When that's accomplished, we can focus on aiding the less fortunate. Honestly, my opinion on the issue is that the Republicans in the house have good goal, but are tying to accomplish them in the worst possible way. What they should do (in my opinion), is take Obamacare like men (and women), get back to work, and start working with Democrats to fix the economy. Unfortunately, both parties are too stuck in their ways to even consider bipartisanship at the current moment. True, but, if my memory serves me correctly, it didn't take effect until recently. |
