I'm not much of someone for politics, but I would like to point out that this has happened many times before. This shutdown isn't really the end of the world, so it seems kind of silly to me to worry about it like it is. It's annoying that our government is full of stubborn people for sure, but it's also comforting (to me at least) that there are people who will stand up for something, regardless of what it is. And do try to keep in mind that, even if it isn't represented here, there is a large amount of the population who don't want a budget with Obamacare in it, and it is the job of our representatives to, well, represent them. RandomMan1 is correct in saying that much of the law goes into effect this year as well. It's not that I'm a right wing conservative (I tend to lean more liberal if you' were going to peg me as anything, and I fully support Obamacare personally), and a lot of my friends and family work for the government and ARE being affected by this. But even with both of those, I can't really find myself freaking out over it. I'm not saying it isn't bad, because it is, but if this is really the worst thing we have to worry about in life, we're pretty well off all things considered. If this drags on for another few weeks, maybe then I'll start to panic. For now it's just another thing to tack onto the list of things that I'll have in mind when election season comes around. |

I really wouldn't consider myself liberal in anything but economics. I don't trust people with power, be they government or private sector, period. That said, I honestly don't see how socialized health care is any more liberal than socialized education or socialized law enforcement. And this isn't even going that far, it's just a subsidy. We can afford it fine. Yes, we have a lot of debt, but that really isn't as bad as you think. Oversimplified a bit, but that's the gist of it. This is irrelevant. It was passed by both the House and the Senate, signed into law by the president, and declared constitutional by the Supreme Court. There is nothing left to discuss. This is like playing a game of black jack, loosing, and then immolating the dealer instead of paying up. |

More than Just a Conjurer of Cheap Tricks

Well the thing is I'm terrified at the people affected because Republicans are selfish enough to stop thousands of people's jobs just so they can win, and even then that's childish. Plus that 3 years ago took it long enough to set it up, and that Himmel is the derpiness of our great government. And plus yeah that simplifies that concept of National debt a lot
