Sadly no. Things are still very bad down there...the current government failed all the Katrina victims.
My friends, love is better than anger. Hope is better than fear. Optimism is better than despair. So let us be loving, hopeful and optimistic. And we will change the world. All my very best,

Yes, this road to recovery has to be traveled a bit longer.......yes the gov't had it faults, but let's not forget all the abusers of the system. Plasma tv's, gambling, boob jobs and sex change operations were not good uses of the money that was supposed to help recover.

lots of people bought things they didn't have before rather than using it for the necessities of getting back on their feet..

And.......our home insurance went up...mine by $300 a year...to pay for the people who abused that money. I had enough out of my own pocket to fix things up here because of Hurricane Rita hitting here....and I have to pay for the Katrina people too? Whats wrong with this picture? I got no help from anyone, not even Fema, (or the Red Cross) because I had home owners insurance....but I had $1000 deductible so I couldnt even use my insurance.
But I am thankful I still have my home and my family is safe, but still dont think i should pay for others.
Most people forget that Rita did tons of damage too. All the government cares about is the Katrina victims in New Orleans. They dont even care about the people in Mississippi, who were really hit harder than New Orleans. New Orleans had a levee break...one that they had been told they should fix for years and claimed they didnt want to put the money into it. So actually its not Katrinas fault that they got flooded so badly.
