Already? Dang, they must've really liked the returns.

One would think they'd give it some more thought, since they've already decided to cancel/delay several other projects, and the reviews were rather mixed on this.

But I guess anything that makes money these days pretty much automatically qualifies for a sequel, ne?

I think I read somewhere that Dreamworks plots all of their films with sequels in mind from the outset.

I don't think they can afford not to capitalize at this point; after the poor returns of Megamind and Rise of The Guardians.

Fledgling
So how did Rise of the Guardians do in the box office? Its characters (ok, one character) are all over deviantart and such, I'm sure it couldn't be that much of a failure?

Dreamworks lost $83 million on Rise of the Guardians' theatrical run. Hopefully they will break even with Blu-ray sales and TV rights. I wouldn't hold my breath for a sequel, but stranger things have happened.

deviantART is almost its own little world with very specific tastes. Same goes for fanfiction.net, etc. They don't reflect the tastes of general society.

Speaking of tastes of general society, in Poland Rise of the Guardians is rated 7,5 while The Croods - 7,2. I read so many positive opinions on Rise of the Guardians (there are some very lively discussions) that I was surprised to see the previous post. As for me, I saw both films only two weeks ago and I'm planning to buy DVDs as soon as I reach a shop which sells them (disadvantages of living in a small town). I gave both films 8s but I think Rise of the Guardians was more enjoyable as far as the plot is concerned.
Focus, Hiccup! You're not even trying.
