Lithe alabaster form vanished quickly into the thick fog that suddenly materialized upon the mossy grounds beneath her. Amber pearls searched the surrounding area for other forms. Her mind played tricks as ghostly howls rang around her. The ground began to tremble and misty form pressed close to her pelt soaking her to the bone. Growling she leapt from they’re chilling grasp and tumbled down a small ravine. Landing flat on her back she rolled to her side and gazed into the deep black holes of a grizzly skull. Jumping to unsteady mitts she growled and shook the dizziness from her cranium. “Deranged ancestors.” She barked. “You have led me on a fruitless harvest.” She howled and the fog began to loosen its chilling grip.

Amber orbs searched once more as a plentiful forest emerged forth from the water smoke. It was a wondrous place filled with tight knit oaks and firs. Small openings let streams of sunlight filter the dark woodland beneath but for the most part it was shrouded in shadow. Shaking the dew from her pelt she continued on glancing back only once to see the broken carcass of the great beast behind her. Its back leg was caught in an old and rusted man-made trap. “Futile beast.” She spat before leaving the putrid smelling place. In places where the sun did filter the newly grown sapling’s sparkled with dew. The stench of prey hung heavily on the damp air and her stomach began to rumble. Pushing the thought away from her head she focused on finding a grand place to shelter a growing pack.

Moving onward she steadied herself on a fallen oak as she crossed the slow raging river beneath her. It was low but the mountain ranges around it had not yet warmed enough to let the snow melt. Jumping onto firm land on the other side she perked rounded thorns. A hare was digging not to far away from where she stood and the stale stench of badger filled the air. Foul smelling creatures. They shall be dealt with once I claim rein upon these breathtaking lands. Her thoughts where quickly felled as a growl started from behind her. Turning on a quick heel she came face to face with the small gray, black, and white creature. Fangs where bared as the young badger snapped at her. “I will make sure your death is strained and painful.” She growled as the creature lunged scraping its claws across her delicate muzzle ripping a few strings of meat from her jowls. Enraged with pain she snapped at the strong creature grasping it quickly by the scruff and flinging it into a nearby stump.

The dazed badger was not going to give up easily and it charged at Ashiki. Watching closely as the young badger charged she quickly turned left and leapt over the stupid thing. It was quick to react and strong jaws crushed her left back paw. Howling in pain Ashiki turned on the defenseless creature and grasped its unprotected neck. Piercing the soft flesh with two long fangs she quickly ended its short life. Feeling its jaws loosen she ripped her foot from the carcass. It was crushed and the pain was unbearable to walk on. “Arrogant varmint.” She yelled grabbing the carcass and shaking the lifeless being until the nape of its neck tore and covered her in blood. Limping away bloody and alone Ashiki battled on her search was merely over and the pride welled inside of her like a sunrise trapped beneath the murky covering of night.

The journey was now taking a toll on her energy and the life source that ran beneath her translucent pelt. With every step her back paw became more and more infected from the vile creatures saliva. If she wished to slow the infection she would need to find Marigold, Horsetail, or Chervil root and fast. A strong stench reached her nose as she rounded a steep corner. A few fox hops away in the pale light of the sun grew a rather large patch of Marigold. Sighing she slowly hopped toward the golden flowers. Snatching a good amount into her mouth she quickly chewed it into a salve and let it drip into her wounds. The juice stung and she swallowed the rest of the plant and settled her head down for a quick rest. It seemed as if she had just settled down when she woke. Her cranium pounded and her mouth was dry. The pain had ceased and her pupils where a bit foggy.

Standing on wobbly pillars she shook the numbness from her body and slowly started forth once again. It had been two days since the attack and Ashiki had slept the last day and a half off. The infection was nearly gone and her foot began to heal but it would never be the same again. She would be able to walk and run on it but it would be a gruesome disfigurement and a daily reminder of her tussle with a badger. Slowing down she stumbled across an old rock formation. The entrance was large enough for a large wolf yet small enough to protect what hid inside. The grounds around where flat and smooth and a deadly cliff loomed a few feet away. Walking over toward the edge she could see a small waterfall beneath her and a rushing river at the bottom of the large chasm.

Perfection loomed before her and death below her. It was the spot she would claim as her own and it felt safe. Sitting down near the cliff edge she let her voice echo through the chasm below her. “The ancestors of my past have brought me forth to this beautifully dark land. I was disappointed at first but as soon as the fog lifted I was mesmerized by the look and feel of this new and foreign land. This is where they want me and this is where I shall stay. If though who well and worship the darkness wish to join let it be known that I call you forth. Let my soul and thoughts guide you forth and let my eyes and heart be the judge. Let my gods and ancestors here my tone as I name these lands Silver Mountain. Let the darkness swell and overwhelm, let the name bring peace and destruction. Let thine pure tremble and thine dark rejoice.” Ending her vivid speech she backed from the edge. Turning she eyed a trembling hare stuck in a crevice of the rocks. It had no escape route and she quickly snatched the darling youngling from it’s fear. Dropping it near the edge she looked over and then up. “Oh Wolfbane I offer you this hares young blood in sacrifice. I pray to you for protection and health from those who wish to harm. Bless me and every wolf that comes within my power. Let ye’ say when we may eat and let ye’ say when we must drink. Let ye’ bring life and let ye’ bring death. Thank you dear Wolfbane and as this blood climbs down the chasm walls let this prayer be energized. May hope lead this vow to never break as long as the pack wells within these lands bowels. I break the spell but never the bond so blessed be.” As her words stopped she quickly slit the hares throat and laid it off the edge letting the blood spill over the rocks and into the water below.

Her deed was done and now all she needed to do was wait for the minions to cross into her threshold. It would not be long before this land was bursting with wolves wishing to join…
