I have heard about carrying them in a net bag, too. Makes sense to me! I have also heard that a person should bring a soft brush to "field clean" the shrooms where you pick them as it will also spread the spores, which are the "seeds" for mushrooms. |

Talked to a guy on morels and his opinion on storage was when you dehydrate them, they crumble when you try to rehydrate, but he has air dried them with good luck. He said to thread a string or fishing line through the stem and hang them out doors till dry and for some odd reason they worked great for rehydrate and cooking. Claims they are just like fresh picked??? We were thinking that maybe the drying is slower this way Might be worth a try, if we find any at all. |

That's good to know - even though I can't say I've ever had morels, I would think that tip applies to all mushrooms. |

Oh, maybe you're right, Grizzly, its a slower, lower temp warming that dries them. Might be worth a shot if a person had a couple extra gunny sacks full! Otherwise, I'm all about the butter and a frying pan!! I have no self control, do I?
