Why.

Why her?

She was no good at leading.

The golden-white mare wandered through the softly scented fields, letting the aroma soothe her nerves. She loved the scent of lavender, loved what it did for her worried mind, loved how it lulled away her insecurities.

She was the next. The leader of Aboriji now. But why had she been chosen, when others, perhaps Raul, Julius, even, would have been a better choice. She was meek, skittish, and hated confrontation. If, in her time of leading, there were to be another fight between Aboriji and Bahari, she would be the one at fault. She would not be able to lead that campaign with a clear mind.

Or conscience, for that matter... Especially if she were to face-

No. Not now. She didn't need to think about that right now. What she needed to think about was what she needed to do with her newfound power.

Perhaps, after all these long, bitter years of war, she could forge some sort of peace with Bahari.

She snorted to herself in laughter. Right. Not likely. While she might be willing to try to live in harmony with all else in the valley, the Bahari herd would probably not.

Then what about Khoya? They seemed pretty amiable to companionship, and she knew their leader, if only just barely. Hawkeye was a sensible stallion, from what she could discern... as were all the members of Khoya, now that she thought about it. Surely they could come to some sort of arrangement.

But best not to rush things. Best come to that when it came to that.

She was skirting the edge of the Acres, where it met the rolling fields of purple perfume... not too far from her herd, but just inside neutral territory.

All the excitement had her in a tizzy, and she desperately needed a moment to think and calm down...

Julius twitched his ears as he listened to the conversation. He wasn't sure how he felt about it. It seemed a bit, strange. Especially since he'd not heard about the vote meeting. "Oh well.." he thought to himself. He pushed the thoughts out of his mind and rolled in the Lavender flowers.

Raúl watched the others carefully. As Ariannas glace touched him, he felt a soft shiver. As she giggled he looked at her and had to smile.

He looked over to Julius who seemed to listen, but more likely enjoying the sweet lavender scent. He took a deep breath and tasted some of the grass. The situation was safe enough, so he could relax.

Listening to Arianna Ray took a short look around. It was strange that everything was so peaceful, even though Khoya didn't really had enemies at all it was still always kind of fierce within the herd... well probably because everyone had made through things which they would never tell anyone. Somehow it was like a rule in his beloved herd. The past stays in the past and doesn't step into the here and now, at least that was mostly the case.

With a soft smile he returned to Arianna again.
"Well shall I say congratulations? I had never been leader myself so I can hardly imagine what it feels like" He grinned slightly. Maybe in ten years he would maybe become a leader, too, in the time when his coat will turn into a pure white. But now with his 4 years of life it was still far far away in future.

As she asked him about his herd he thought he heard a bit of fear out of her voice but why should she she be scared? He wouldn't harm her at all.
"Oh I thought I already told you" He smiled apologetic "I'm a guardian of the Khoya herd, dear, I hope it doesn't trouble you."

and once you've gone through this you know what real coldness means... your heart is too loud

She listened to Ray with a faint, polite smile, ducking her head in embarrassment as he congratulated her on her position, adding a quiet, "Oh, thank you..."

But he was with Khoya. Oh, that made things better. She visibly relaxed, breathing out a sigh of relief.

"No, no, it's perfectly fine!" She assured, "I just... didn't want to be so prone to someone in Bahari, you'll understand my caution..." My, wasn't she speaking eloquently today? She was rather proud of herself for that, and brightened as the words hung in the air between the group. It was a lovely day, and she hoped that nothing would ruin this peace. She didn't want to have to leave her little safe haven, here, among the flowers, for a disturbance...

Julius finally sat up and looked over at the others.
Lately he had begun to feel like things were changing.
A little too much for his liking.
He could feel the turbulance between all things in the air.
Standing, he shook his coat to rid himself of any blades of grass or flower stalks.
With that, he trotted over to them to stand next to Raylen.

"Hello." he said softly.

Raúl smiled. Somehow he had a softspot for Julius. He was so funny.
"Hey, seems you finally found your feet?" he said with a smirk.

Sure he understood why she tried to avoid Bahari. Everyone knew about the problems of the two herds and Ray was relieved that his own herd wasn't part of the trouble, yet.
Hawkeye was always trying the best to keep them safe and away from all dangers that could harm the herd and yes Ray was grateful for that... even though his job as a guard could become a bit boring from time to time since there mostly wasn't much to do.

"Yes, I do understand, I guess everyone knows about the conflicts... but I bet you can solve them", he said with a soft smile trying to give her some confidence. Of course Ray didn't know the exact reason for 'the war' between the other herds but no matter what would happen in future he would always try to stay out of it, just as his heard would do but he instantly hoped for a good ending for both, Aboriji & Bahari.

As the blond stallion stood up and walked right next to Ray, he couldn't but think he's funny. Not only because of his fancy coloring but also because of his way to walk.
"Hello, well I guess we haven't met yet, did we?" He said to the strange stallion with a bright expression on his face. Somehow Ray enjoyed the company of the Aborijis, they just seemed to be so forunate with everything they did. A large grin appeared on his face as Raul's word met his ears.
Yes it was a beautiful and peadeful day, indeed.

Julius smiled lightly at him then looked to the others.
He felt happy to have good company.
Flicking his tail, he looked up to the sky at the clouds.
He had always enjoyed cloudy and rainy weather.

Arianna nodded once in response to Ray's comment, again ducking her head at the compliment hidden therein

"Oh... Thank you... I do hope so. This pointless feud has gone on quite long enough, I think." Yes. Perhaps she could change things for the better around here. Especially if she had backup. Khoya seemed to like them well enough, she supposed, but that was something she'd have to take up with Hawkeye formally...

Her gaze drifted to Raul and Julius. Her irritation for the latter was waning as he appeared to be just as content as the rest of them to be peaceful, to not have a fit. (The incident in the orchard had not left Arianna's mind, although she'd fled quickly when the blue roan mare had arrived.) With a soft shake of her head, she cleared her thoughts of that day. She should not hold grudges against her herd mates. She should start anew. She should forgive and forget.

And perhaps that was what she would do.
