Upon the shore of Clear Water Lake stood a stallion- his palomino coat thick and matted with frost. Great plumes of steam rose from his muzzle, drifting and dissipating over the water- set aflame by the descent of the sun. The dying light danced across the sand beneath his hooves, the shards turned to embers by the warm glow; his own pelt a stark contrast to their brilliance. Like the sun, so too did the year come to pass upon this eve. The stallion recalled his former life, of the quiet celebrations that would mark these final days. With a slight sigh- a harsh exhale in the silence of his solitude- he banished the thoughts from his mind. To grieve for himself was a selfish act, more so than ever tonight. With movements made stiff by the healing of his wounds, Vaquero dipped his maw, grasping the small offering with careful precision- careful to avoid damaging the delicate petals. Glancing skywards, the stallion closed his eyes: so many had made the journey these past moons - far too many souls cast off before their time. Victims of greed, of hunger and war. Slowly, the stallion advanced towards the shore, stopping only when the gentle waves brushed against his fetlocks- the frigid liquid grounding him to the task at hand. With infinite care, he set the blossom upon the crystalline surface, watching as it was swept away. A warrior’s farewell. |

Rául walked over to the Lake. Coldness and darknesssurrounding him. The little snow that had managed to stay on the ground, creaked under his hooves. The little misty clouds infront if his muzzle were carried away by the wind. His glace lazily followed the clouds over to the lake. And there he stood. His heart made a little jump. Vaquero! He remembered their last meeting. The night at the apple orchard still stuck in his head. The palomino had made him forget about Arianna. With a slight jump of joy he cantered over to him. In the silence of the night his beating hooves would maybe sound overly loud, but he didn't care. He really wanted to talk to the palo again! The closer he came, the more he slowed down. He was wounded... And Rául was very sure he hadn't been the last time they met! "Vaquero!! What happened?!" he asked worried. |

The palomino glanced over his shoulder, his heart leaping at the sight of the dark guardian. With a joyful whinny, the stallion forgot the poise of his ritual, rushing over to touch noses with his friend. At the bay’s worried inquiry, he snorted, flicking his tattered ears. “Don’t waste worry on me, Raul, I’m fine.” He smiled slightly, brushing his muzzle across the other stallion’s withers. “A pack of coyotes thought one of our yearlings to be easy prey. They were most mistaken.” The light stallion chuckled, more content than he had felt since... well, since the last he had seen the mysterious Aboriji. He glanced over his friend- the stallion was a magnificent creature, his Spanish heritage made clear by his lean build and handsome maw. He recalled the glow that had so captivated him in their previous meeting- the captured beauty of the stars, gifted upon this one being... The palomino blushed, pinning his ears as he caught his thoughts drifting. With a small snort, he closed his eyes. Don’t be a colt, Vaquero, he thought, dejectedly. The moon would sooner fall than he be interested in the likes of you. |

(so sorry for the late reply >.<) Rául snorted happily and whinned. He was so happy to see Vaquero and even more over his nice welcome. "I would have loved to see that! I bet you kicked their ass!!" he said. But he was still a bit worried. The thought that he had fought the coyotes all alone made him shiver. He gave Vaquero a friendly bite in the side and jumped away in a foalish manner. With a squeal and stomping his hooves on the ground he looked at the palomino. He felt awesome and felt like playing. It had been a long since he had last felt so good. |

Vaquero snorted and grinned, rearing into a mock levade before chasing after his friend, snaking his neck and nipping lightly at the darker stallion’s flanks. He imagined this must have been how the young colts of the herd felt as they corralled their choice filly at play. With their laughter lifting the burden of the night, the stallions danced for what seemed an eternity. Finally, sides heaving with exertion, Vaquero nickered a breathless laugh stepping forward to bump his head against Raul’s shoulder. With the moon now high above the mountains, the palomino unconsciously rested his muzzle against the Lusitano’s neck- reveling in his warmth and drinking his scent. Vaquero glanced towards the lake, whereupon the stars reflected - Sirius the brightest of them all. Perhaps this is what he had been searching for all along. |

Rául stood still, enjoying the warm breath on his shoulder. Even though he was nearly out of his breath and so warm, that he couldn't feel the cold outside, he was happy. His glace followed Vaqueros to the stars. They were glowing so bright and beautyful. As a foal he had often thought that he maybe was wrong here on earth, with his strange glowing chest and would better belong up there... He couldn't help but think of Vaqueros words as he had seen Ráuls chest glow. Nice... never before had someone said this. He felt a wonderful warmth in his chest. The palominos breathing was now the only sound. With closed eyes he listened, just enjoing the moment. He knew his chest would most likely be gloqing like a firefly, but he didn't care. For the first tiem, he didn't care. |

Vaquero felt his heart leap at the warm glow against his pelt, knowing that it was the strange light within Raul’s chest. So desperately did he wish to examine it, to touch and scent and understand. But ultimately, he did not wish to alarm the other, as he had in their previous meeting. Perhaps a day would come where he was free to learn the other’s body as his own. Someday. With a bemused huff at his wandering thoughts, the pale stallion buried his nose in the dark tresses of his companion’s mane. Rather shyly, he captured the other’s gaze- startled by the intensity of the blue eyes which met his own. Tipping his ears bashfully, he brushed his muzzle against the darker stallion’s. “Thank you for staying with me, Raul.” |

Rául smiled. The comfortable and warm body of the other stallion, the starry night. Everthing comforted him. He knew his chest would glow bright and he could see the glow a bit. But he didn't care. "No need to thank me. I really enjoy such a nice company in those cold nights! And you indeed are..." |

With a snort and soft murmur of contentment, Vaquero felt the tug a smile at the corner of his maw. Never before had he felt so complete as he did on this night, with Raul warm at his flank. Bashfully, the palomino flicked his ears, returning his gaze to the heavens. The moon now rested atop its highest perch in the night sky, though it’s beauty paled in comparison to the stallion who rested at his side. “...Do you believe in destiny, Raul?” |

Rául looked at him with half shut eyes. "Yes... and I adore and fear it. I always hope for it to someday be on my side. And I fear that it might have something really bad waiting for me in the future... But still... I do have hope!" he said with a faint smile. |
