Just had a cash offer of £305,000. Crikey!

Been told that there's more interest though, so might be wise to hold out a bit.

Lads, what's the etiquette with rent and haggling? The novelty of commuting from Sheffield to Birmingham is wearing off and I want to be able to work on personal projects after work and that, so I'm trying to find a spare room or something to lodge in near to work.

I'm fairly confident when it comes to negotiating prices but I have no idea if it's the done thing with regards to lodging/renting?

Go for it. If you're a presentable looking chap they'll probably go for it. I got 50 quid knocked off the asking rent when I moved to Guildford, I just said it was a touch over my max budget and would they be willing to take x a month?

Well it looks like I'll me moving some stuff down to Birmingham for a bit. Went to see a spare room somebody was renting last night and it was nice, great location, and I managed to get them down by £50 a month too so it's just about in budget. I'll be going from 2 hours door to door each way to about 3 minutes. So hopefully I'll be able to get in some overtime and work on some personal stuff. As things are now by the time I've got home, eaten, showered, sat down for 30 minutes I'm about ready for bed.
