After Honky mentioning his dislike for The Sun despite a fondness for some of their amusing headlines, I just wondered what TWCF members' newspapers of choice are. It probably says a bit about what kind of person you are. Which newspapers do you read, why, which do you hate, and if you don't read newspapers why not? I guess you can discuss news websites here also.

For the last couple of years I've mainly gone for the Times, but with studying journalism I've mixed it up quite often. I enjoy the sports and fairly new science pullouts with the Times. My other favourites are the Guardian and the Telegraph. I tried to get into the Independent and the Scotsman but I'm just not enjoying them. The new Times website bollocks however has put me off even buying their newspaper now. I signed up for free previews of the new site and I don't like it at all. Having to even log in just to skim through news articles is irritating, let along paying for it.

I can't read the likes of The Sun or local papers anymore without pointing out all the errors and badly-written stories so they're no fun for me now.

You?

I never buy a paper. I just get BBC News and a few other sites downloaded to my phone. The only papers I see really are what people at work buy and it's almost always The Sun.

I’m a big fan of The Guardian Online but I, like many others these days I suspect, don’t bother buying a newspaper anymore. I certainly won’t go near any of the Rupert Murdoch owned papers.

I'm a poncy Guardian reader, but I also read The Sun for a bit of fun and so I can shout at the cretins on the letters page.

I buy the Guardian on a Saturday every week, and an Observer on the Sunday if it's a slow day at home. It's not like there's a huge choice any more - the Daily Mail, Sun, Star, Mirror and Screws are all gossip rags now, the male equivalent of Celeb of whatever the ladies read.

So you're left with The Times (which is alright), The Telegraph (rightwing), The Guardian (leftwing) and The Independent. I used to read the Indy, but it has so few full time staff, and so much is agency written now that I find it pretty lightweight.

Oh, and the FT if you're a toff who works in the city.

I buy the local paper and on a lazy sunday the Observer. Only because I can spend all fucking day reading it.

The Guardian's not a bad paper by any means, but it's rather sickening straight-for-the-jugular 'WE ARE THE NEWSPAPER FOR THE LIBERAL INTELLECTUAL' targeting gets on my tits.

Well, it's more the aspirational audience who end up buying it because they think they should and because they think it makes them a better person then everyone else, then reading the first 4 pages before sacking it off. Twats.

Anyway, I get my news of the internet. BBC's a frequent haunt, but if an issue catches my attention I'll often end up reading how the story is covered by different news providers.

I'm a sandal wearing, bleeding heart, Guardian reader. On the Sundays I'll get the Observer and The News of the Screws for something to read on the pan.

I used to read The Guardian on the weekends because I like all the pull out stuff but most of the time, I just stick to news websites.

I generally have a look on The Guardian, Times, BBC and Google News websites.

In South Australia we have one (news corp) newspaper, it's hell. There's also a national newspaper (yeah, one) but I don't really feel bothered by what's happening at the other end of the country.

I'm possibly going to Perth for a month in December, they really only have one proper newspaper?

The Racing Post for the Football Betting pages at the back. It's sort of a waste of the hundred odd other pages full of horse racing stuff, as I know fuck all about that.

Other than that if I want something light for breaks in work or whatever it's usually The Mirror or The Sun for the sport. And If I have time to actually do a bit of reading it's The Times or Belfast Telegraph.

Sometimes I have to go up to the shop and buy The Mail and The Newsletter for my Granny and Grandad, I really don't like either paper, especially the shitty Newsletter.

My mum gets the Daily Mail which I do read at home if I have to, I don't like to as the stories tend to make me think that they are based on fiction. Given the choice I read The Times as it is in depth and has good other features. When I'm at work (Petrol Station) I get to read all the papers, this is so that I can get different opinions on stories and whats going on in the world, I go stay away from the Sport and Star though.
