He got to a fairly incredible 95. An utterly unique character, I remember at a Royal Variety performance he climbed down from the circle into the crowd, and he must have been about 80 at the time. Apparently he was in a film in 2008, despite advanced dementia. That'd be worth digging out. Anyway, RIP and all that. |

I haven't seen anything of his in ages, but as a lad I often watched his films when they were repeated on the tele and I've got fond memories of those times. He had a good old run, though. |

Fucking Gutted. Giant fan of his, his films are perfect Sunday afternoon fare. Great innings, and according to my mate who caddied for him at Carden Park he was a true gent. I raise my glass. |

I don't think I've ever seen anything featuring him, aside from possibly an episode or two of Summer Wine. Fair play to the bloke for making 95, though. |
