God of Darkness

Continued from this Previous Thread ---------- Around Erik the sphere slowly disintegrated, the spell finished. The acolytes performed a low, stooping bow to their lord and left the throne room backwards, fearing to turn their back on him in case they would disrespect him. Drusrida strode forwards and sat on the small marble steps before his throne. His expression was that of displeasure; his favourite pet, in the hands of that foolish mortal Emperor, angered him somewhat. He contemplated how to punish her as he wandered towards his throne, his long jacket swaying with each graceful movement. Erik: Call for someone reliable... Blackwood. Drusrida stood, looking a little insulted that he had not asked for her assistance instead. She bowed, her armour making light clinking sounds with her actions, and vanished, teleporting to another part of the castle; the sleeping quarters for the high ranking military personnel. Walking for roughly three minutes down a long, desolate and dark corridor, one those whom were weak of heart would fear to tred, she stopped in front of a large, wooden door. Knocking on it three times, she bellowed, assuming the General was still asleep. Drusrida: Blackwood! Blackwood wake up! The Lord desires your presence immediately! From inside the room not a sound was to be heard, no matter how hard or for how long Drusrida was to knock on the wooden door, there would be no response whatsoever, for Testaros was already quite awake and far from his own quarters, even if not that far away. Mere floors away a figure garbed in a suit of blackened platemail was hastily making his way to the sleeping quarters with a servant by his side, the female kept her head low out of respect (Or some would say fear) as she apologized time and time again and that she knew how badly the man took to anyone interrupting his practice, but his presence was simply required at the quarters; Clearly the ruckus Drusrida caused in her search for Testaros was more than enough to startle the personnel of the palace. Arriving at the door he already knew what was to come and so he was quick to adjust, a polite smile creeping to his lips and addorning his pale features before he coughed to gain her attention and speak, his tone monotonous as many times. " M'lady Drusrida, it is always a pleasure; And what is this I see? For how important your message is, I have some doubt that invading my quarters is going to solve anything, quite the opposite.. " He folded his arms across his plated chestguard as he listened to the woman's words, the faked smile quickly giving place to a more serious expression, one of actual and genuine concern as he was quick to depart. " I must thank you for delivering the message, now if you'll excuse me - Not all have the luxury of magic at their disposal; enjoy your evening " With that he turned on the heel of his plated greaves, the black plate glimmering ever so lightly as it was iluminated by the candles, a couple of minutes later he found himself standing at the door to the throne room, once more he took the time to compose himself into a more fitting apperance, and only then he pushed through the oak doors, his red drape fluttering behind him with each step taken, when reaching to the steps he dipped his head forward to Eric and then sank to one knee as the platemail creaked, not daring to look up as he spoke. " Majesty, I await your command " Edited by Testaros, Jun 27 2011, 11:13 AM.

Erik paced his throne room, he trusted Blackwood with his life, but he longed for the freedom outside the Shadow Palace. Reports came in hourly from the borders with the Empire, but he wanted to see it with his own eyes. Erik: Dru, summon three Void Magi, and fetch me matching Void armour. Without a word she raised an eyebrow and walked through the door to his far left, leading to his private quarters, just as the large doors opened and Blackwood marched in. His armour blending with the darkness of the throne room, hiding the mass of muscle underneath. Erik had observed Drusrida and Testaros interact, she seemed to think he was an idiot and a slacker, and he seemed to take the passive aggressive approach. They were opposite sides of a coin. Testaros: Majesty, I await your command. His voice rang out in the now empty throne room. Erik waved a hand to indicate for him to stand at ease. Erik: I have an errand for you, Blackwood. It may seem tedious, perhaps a waste of your talents, but there is no-one else I would trust with this task. I want you to meet with an empire convoy at the border west of Dunklestadt and retrieve one of my... subjects. Should any of the Empire's escort try anything, kill them all and mount their heads upon the border walls. Take as many men as you see fit, but I will be sending four Void Magi with you. They will follow your orders. Are there any questions? Drusrida entered the throne room once more, standing silently by the door, indicating to Erik that his outfit was ready. |

With his head still lowered, Testaros listened to Eric's words with a quiet reverence and even if he always followed orders with a second thought, he could't help but to look forward to a possible confrontation with the Empire, simply remembering the taste of their blood enough to shift from a blank expression into a foreboding smile. He took no more than a few seconds to think of an appropriate course of action as he rose, clasping his arms behind his back as he faced Eric, the same smile still over his pale features. " They are nothing more than a traitorous and unruly rabble serving under a potential usurper, but still.. It is not wise to attract too much attention to ourselves, provide me with five men in addition to the Void Magi - I shall depart as soon as they are under my command, their safety and that of your subject will be ensured. " With this Testaros performed a rather theatrical bow and turned to leave the Throne room, making way to the Military quarters. |

As soon as the door closed behind Blackwood, Erik swiftly stood and walked into his private rooms. In the changing room stood a large table, upon which lay the Void Magi armour. A blackened archaic plate helm and skeletal chest plate, long disused by the Knights of the Kingdom of Darkness, weathered in the flames of the Abyssal Pit. A hooded cloak, tattered to pieces at the hem covered the helm. As Erik donned the armour he lifted the chest plate up to find a tome beneath it. Power radiated from it as he ran his hand over the cover. He remembered this tome, he'd enchanted it in a previous life when his magic had mutated a division of his knights into creatures who lived on dark energy. Void mages worked in twos, one mage carried a tome, the other drew power from the tome to cast magic. Should one stray too far from the other it would consume itself, leaving only the armour. Erik lifted the tome and stood before the full length mirror, checking his appearance. Testaros was not magically inclined, and so was unlikely to notice Erik standing with his own men. A few minutes later, Erik stood before the Shadow Palace, awaiting Testaros and his men. Three Void Magi stood around him, unmoving and stood to attention. |

Looking around the dimly lit quarters Testaros narrowed his eyes on a particular door, swiftly making his way across the corridor and stopping at the door, the man was not too subtle as he slammed his plated fist on the door repeatedly, a stern frown taking hold of his features as nothing but grunts of annoyance and more than just a few expletives was the reaction presented to him. " They.. Dare.. Ugh, so be it " Baring his teeth in a growl he resorted for brutality now, taking a step back and away from the door he now raised his heavily plated greave, forcing the door open with a swift kick, it was as he suspected, even his own men were not above mundane vices and habits; Most of them were sprawled over their beds, sleeping away their hours of duty, but what truly caught his attention was the table placed in the middle of their quarters, a handful of his Elite sat around it, some playing cards and others simply too enthralled with the female servants upon their laps to notice his presence, but that was quickly corrected as he marched to the table and slammed a heavily plated fist upon it, now he had caught the attention of every man on the room, including the ones that were previously asleep and now stared at their General wide-eyed, his usually pale face was tainted with a deep red, his monotonous tone raised to something rather fierce, almost threatening. " You overstep your boundaries men, and I am nothing short of disappointed that even those I trusted show themselves to be nothing but.. Simpletons; Talk among yourselves; I demand that the best five out of you meet me at the entrance to the Palace, we are to retrieve someone from the grasp of the Empire. " With that Testaros spun on the heel of his plated greaves and turned to leave - Making way to the Void Magi, not a word was exchanged until his men arrived, garbed in a blackened suit of platemail such as his, even if lacking certain details and even the red mantle that Testaros sported most of the time; While the Void Magi worked on a portal to get them to Dunkelstadt, Testaros took upon himself to speak briefly to his men. " I know what you're thinking, this is a waste of your talents - Regardless, you will do your best and I will not hear a word about it; Failure is beneath us, remember that. " With that he turned to face the Void Magi (And Eric!) - Awaiting the completion of the portals |

Testaros: I know what you're thinking, this is a waste of your talents - Regardless, you will do your best and I will not hear a word about it; Failure is beneath us, remember that. Erik watched as Testaros turned to the Void Magi and nodded for them to begin the ritual, well-hidden from Testaros and his men. The marble and obsidian floor of the courtyard beneath them was etched with a circle of runes which seemed to grow in correlation to the Void Magi's tempo of chanting. They, Erik included, spread out to form a square and placed one hand upon a rune at their feet. Between them magic crackled and flashed as a portal was torn open before the Shadow Palace. Through the portal were the streets of Dunklestadt, bustling with the noise of plate and mail clinking as troops patrolled the city streets. Blacksmiths hard at work slammed their hammers down on the steel they were forging into various weapons, adding to the atmospheric noise. Erik could feel the Void Magi drawing power from him, he could feel his strength being sapped away to power their spell. He watched as Testaros' men walked through the vortex before following himself. |
