The Dark God's "favourite pet".
|
Rin walked through the lands of the Emperor with the gnome just in front of her, the two outriders holding tightly onto her upper arms. Occasionally she would try to shake them off but they wouldn’t release her and allow her to walk on her own. The only joy she took in this was that she still had the plans on her that would ensure the Kingdom of Darkness’ triumph over the Empire. “Ngh… I have legs, I can walk you know…” she growled as she was escorted, approaching the boarders of Dunkelstadt. The guardsmen at the perimeter stood on guard, eyeing them cautiously as they came to a stop. A couple of the archers primed their arrows and took aim, some lowering it upon spotting the Dark Lord’s favourite pet. “Little man, can you get these shackles off me? I’d really appreciate it.” she asked, looking down at Jorkinn. |

"Hmmmh. That would depend on several factors, but sure, why not." Jorkinn stopped for a moment, mulling over the correct words to use, before barking in a harsh tone. "Oi. You pair. Undo her shackles before I have the Emperor himself kill you. I'm a close friend of his. What are you two? Eh? You're nothing. Now do it" The gnome's face was one of horror tales, contorted and twisted, his tone displaying apparent power, though he had none over the men. "Now!" he said once more, before turning away, waiting. He quickly patted his jerkin, feeling the pressure of the guardsman's keys against his breast, secure. An interesting commodity to have for a man guided only be his love of money, ale and song. |

God of Darkness

Upon the towering walls of Dunklestadt, the black stone hot to the touch in the midday sun, four hooded figures converged upon the sand blasted gate before the empire's escort. A eldritch wind swept from the walls as a huge maw of jagged and rotting teeth opened upon the obsidian gate. At the same time three voices spoke from it, each sounded ancient and inhuman. Voices: You will hand over the the witch! There will be no negotiation! The mouth disappeared back into the gate and it lowered, the huge block of obsidian siding down to allow a single Void Magi to walk towards the escort. The worn metal of the blackened archaic plate helm and skeletal chest plate gleamed in the sun where the bronze beneath was still visible, in the magi's hand was a tome. At it's side was a blade, hidden in it's cloak. A simple black pommel with a single ruby was all that was visible. As it stood before the four, the void mage spoke, the voice was young, human sounding. It carried an air of authority and menace. Erik(hidden): This girl is the property of the Shadow Palace. Release her to me at once, deserters. The void mage chuckled at his little joke, and then from his helm, eyed the little man at the front of the group. |

Rin watched in awe as the gate’s maw opened and spoke it’s words before lowering. She had never really been to any of the Kingdom of Darkness’ towns or villages. Confined to the Shadow Palace’s throne room and the likes, such sights were a marvel to the young witch. Her hazel coloured eyes darted around, before eventually falling on the singular Void Mage. Rubbing her wrists now that they were free of the shackles, as the gnome had commanded the two out runners. “This girl is the property of the Shadow Palace,” the Void Mage began, a sentence which Rin frowned at. She hated to be seen as property. He continued as she glared at him “Release her to me at once, deserters.” She stared at the singular void mage for a long moment, her gaze flickering up and down his appearance. He wasn’t like the other void mages, they spoke with a more empty tone usually. They were very subservient, rather than full of authority. Then, a large, fist sized lump swelled up in her throat as “release her to me” and his little punch line, echoed in her mind. It was him. No other soul would dare to try and claim Rin with such words. Her heart sank further as her gaze fell on his blade. The Witch kept quiet, she couldn’t put him in danger. She was afraid he was already going to punish her once he had hold of her, she couldn’t afford to make it worse. Turning her attention to the gnome, she mumbled to him. “So may I approach him then, without your lackeys manhandling me?” Edited by Rin, Jul 13 2011, 10:35 PM.

Jorkinn shrugged once towards Rin, his gaze toward the Void Mage, resting on the tome for a moment. "Ahh. Right. Well, however rude that may have been," Jorkinn coughed, "And it was rather, she's yours. I just want to get back to somewhere with alcohol and recieve my payment. Regards to your boss an' all that." Jorkinn smiled confidently, gesturing with an arm that the girl should be released. "I'm sure she's more than capable of walking that far boys." he said sarcastically, grinning towards Rin. "T'was a pleasure Miss." He winked once towards Rin before stepping aside, thumbs in his belt, grin on his face. -------------------------------------- OC: Jorkinn has moved to this thread. |

Around the scene, people and creatures of the Kingdom of Darkness had given a wide birth for the figures, though eagerly watched on. The general stalls within the area had closed and many people scurried past, head down. Any creature of the Dark knew of the Void Magi and their incredible power. Anyone with at least a hint of magic within them knew that this Void Magi was incredibly power. From amongst the crowd, an old fisherman emerged. His beard was a dull auburn, streaked with silver from age. His brow was wrinkled and his face weathered by years at sea. His tunic and leggings were simple and of dark colour, topped by a great apron of leather. Upon his feet, large knee length leather boots. The fisherman walked to what seemed to be his stall, helping himself along with his large harpoon. The tool was more like a weapon, yet was ornate. Upon it there were scenes of fishermen, storms and creatures few had ever encountered. The spear head was vicious, barbed and long. The old man watched the scene, focusing on the Void Magi, a bemused look spreading across his face. |

As the gnome winked at her, she rolled her eye at him in partly disgust. Taking some unsteady steps within the sand towards her disguised master, she made sure to keep an eye on them over her shoulder with a hawkish glare. Once reaching the strange Void Mage, she turned to face him, looking at him with her hazel coloured eye. The witch half expected him to take her eye there and then, a horrible feeling running up her spine. “I cannot say it was. Tell your emperor that I will slit his throat another time…” she said, looking to the gnome and the two Outrunners, the two gigantic men frowning deeply “should wind him up a little further.” The witch smirked, turning back to her master fully. The smirk instantly faded from her face as she made sure to bow her head. Upon finishing this movement, she spotted a strange old man in the distance, behind the God’s men. How far, she couldn’t tell exactly due to her lack of depth perception, but she saw him. There was little she could do until Erik gave the order to move out. Edited by Rin, Jul 18 2011, 10:33 AM.

Jorkinn smiled broadly. "Well folks, I am out of here." he stated merrily, apparently trying to lighten the tone? Hah he thought to himself as he strode off towards the nearest tavern, striding past the elderly man without even granting him a second glance, his mind was too occupied with thoughts of riches and alcohol. "Dum, bop doo be doo doo." |

Jorkinn: Ahh. Right. Well, however rude that may have been, and it was rather, she's yours. I just want to get back to somewhere with alcohol and receive my payment. Regards to your boss an' all that. Erik made a mental note to enslave the gnomes when he got around to it. He was irritated by how calm and composed they could be in the face of everything that went on in the Kingdom of Darkness. Erik turned to Rin, eyeing her up and down as she stood with her head bowed. He repressed the urge to strike her for now, Rin belonged to the God of Darkness, not the Void Mage he was pretending to be. Striking her now would expose him. He whispered to her, his lips hidden by the faded iron helm. Erik: You have wandered far my pet... You will be punished. Pray those plans are worth more to me than having the skin whipped from your back. As he turned to the open gate of Dunkelstadt, the old fisherman caught his eye, he recalled the God of the Sea, his name long forgotten to Erik, his mortal mind meant for reincarnation. He found his memories of the Old Ones slipping away. He pointed past the old man, back into the centre of Dunkelstadt, and towards the portal back to the Shadow Palace, his unspoken command clear to soldier's of Darkness around him. We return. |

With the Void Mages' sight upon him, the old man stood once more. However he suddenly had an air of grace about him, the movements effortless. Picking up the large fishing spear, he began to walk, placing himself between the Void Magi and the Void Gate. Turning to face the Mage and the Dark God's pet, he ran a hand through his silver beard. Pulling his cloak around him tighter, a mist flooded the area suddenly. People watching the scene muttered amongst themselves, unsure of why a simple man would challenge a the God King... |

"You have wandered far my pet... You will be punished. Pray those plans are worth more to me than having the skin whipped from your back." Rin turned her gaze to the Void Mage whom had whispered to her, an alarmed expression on her face. She was right; it was him. The Witch was somewhat surprised that he didn't strike her but even more so that he knew that she had swiped the plans. Her heart was throbbing from within her throat and as Erik turned away from her, her instincts screamed at her, urging her to run. However, Erik's hold over her was a lot stronger than her instincts, causing her to turn with him a moment later. "Why can't I run?" she asked herself, her hazel coloured eye only occasionally flickering to her master "He... He's going to hurt me, and I know this, but why do I feel as though there is nothing else I can do? I feel so trapped..." Rin spotted the old man, he was standing in the way of the gate. Soldiers exchanged confused glances, an expression which Rin shared. She drew closer to her master, remaining close. Her hands crackled slightly with energy, preparing a spell, just in case she needed to protect her master. |

As the older fisherman stepped into his path Erik stopped. No wise man stood in the way of a Void Mage, they were his will. He paused for a moment, before whispering beneath his helm. Erik: You're in my way, old man, not a safe place to be presently. Is there something you wish of a Void Mage, such as a swift death? Around him the other Void magi gathered, each reached to their sides to draw their blades, worn and notched by the chaotic winds of magic in the Abyssal Pit. Erik's hand moved slowly to his own blade as he pushed Rin back. |

The old mans lips, weathered and dried by time at sea, cracked as they opened to speak. Looking at the Void Mage, his eyes glittered like the sun upon a clear sea. At the same time, he placed the bottom of the spear into the floor, now standing tall as if his age was nothing more. "Has it been so long that you no longer recognise me, brother? Has your own corruption destroyed those around you so that they have not been able to remind you of the past? Has your corruption truly destroyed the mind of that girl? Was she not once pure and not clouded with thoughts of service and slavery to a so called master?" With these words, the mist grew thicker, raising. Suddenly it had hidden the other Void Magi, and for that matter, everyone else. Only Erik, Rin and the Old Man could see each other. Sound from outside the mist was hollow, distant... |

Rin watched with fear as mist surrounded the three. It worried her that both her and Erik were separated from Testaros and the others. Being pulled to stand behind Erik, she looked to him with an expression of fear. She wanted nothing more than to protect the very god whom tortured her and would probably continue to once they had returned home. Listening to the strange old man, Rin, for as placid natured as she was, became angry. “How dare you!” Rin yelled, almost a scream as her hands balled into fists “I love my master! I stay because I want to!” That wasn’t entirely true, but it was her initial reaction to say so. She had strong feelings for him, however whether they were manufactured by Erik or not was unclear. Rin had been almost brainwashed to worship and fear Erik, to serve him without condition. She questioned in the back of her mind, why this old, strange man would know about her at all, why he would know she was from the Kingdom of Light. |

Erik raised a hand to silence Rin, he removed his helm, his expression one of boredom and annoyance. Erik: What do you want exactly, Old Man? You stripped me of my divinity and left me on this rock. I'm doing what each and every human would have done if they had my power, I have carved a place for myself in this world. What of you, coming to interfere with Mortal affairs? Didn't you claim that a form of corruption? Would you like me to interfere in that holy land of yours? Erik tucked the helmet under his arm, his other hand resting on the pommel of God-whim. Erik: State your business or leave my city, Old One. |

Lúg lets out a hallow, dry, laugh. He shook his head at Erik. His brother had learnt nothing. Nothing at all. So much pride. So much hate. It was a shame to Lúg, he had hoped the rebirth may change the fallen God, but to no avail. "I am here to warn you, boy. Warn you of the same fate as has come to you before. Should you fight the Goddess, you shall die. As shall she. Make peace with her, rule together, or my people -shall- force it. They are within your lands, within your armies. Within the very walls of your keep and church. Together your corruption would end. Orcs would no longer be savage but the intellegent beings they once were. The World itself would no longer warp. And do not act as if you can reach the heavens, whelp. Father is the master and gate keeper. Only he chooses whom enters. I shall not fall like you, however, for I do not touch. I do not corrupt. I merely nudge. Influence, so to speak. Oh, and your 'pet' is lying. She wants to run but you have conditioned her well. Her body obeys yet her soul does not..." Lúg grinned at the girl. Such a being was pathetic. Weak. All humans resisted true corruption. They may become dark. Even 'evil', in the sight of others. Never corrupted however... Edited by Lúg, Jul 30 2011, 07:04 PM.

Lug: Oh, and your 'pet' is lying. She wants to run but you have conditioned her well. Her body obeys yet her soul does not... Erik was growing angry, he hated when people spoke without saying anything. He knew Rin wished to run away from him as fast as she could, if they didn't fear him they respected him. Erik: You're boring me now, Old One... Erik gathered a ball of explosive energy in his hand, unstable and crackling as he quickly lobbing it through the thick mist at Lug. As the energy reached it's destination Erik grabbed Rin and dove for the floor, the blast passing over them. The ground shook as the sewers below collapsed, bringing the street they stood on down into the vast tunnels below. Above, one of the large buildings had crumbled and large chunks of debris rained down, re-covering the tunnel from the street above. Erik drew God-whim as he stood up, the blade a shadow in the darkness around them. Water flowed past his ankles, his ears listening for the faintest sound out of place. Erik: Witch? Where is he? |

Lug’s words to Erik infuriated Rin; he spoke to the God of Darkness as though he was nothing more than a child. In body, perhaps, but everyone was aware that his spirit, his soul, was eternal. “Oh, and your 'pet' is lying. She wants to run but you have conditioned her well. Her body obeys yet her soul does not…” Lúg grinned at Rin. Had Erik not already signalled for her silence, she would have yelled at him once more, though she sensed he was only saying such things to wind her up. She hoped he would strike the old man down, but there was a lingering feeling that this whole situation was so wrong. “You're boring me now, Old One…” her master said, which caused Rin some alarm. She was unsure if the pair of them could face an Old One alone, without the help of Testaros and his men. Remaining close to Erik, she watched as he gathered a ball of explosive energy in his hand and quickly lobbed it through the thick mist at Lug. There was little time to think between him releasing the energy and Erik grabbing Rin. He dove for the floor, the blast passing over them both as she held onto him tightly. “Witch? Where is he?” Erik barked at Rin as she scrambled to her feet. He was clearly in a foul mood, and if she didn’t find Lug, his anger was most certain to turn towards her. “I can’t see a thing, master…,” Rin replied at first, looking around with her only eye “please excuse me a moment.” She began to channel energy to her right hand once more. A blue hue surrounded her hand as she shot a small burst of light upwards, whispering a word under her breath. Due to her lack of depth perception, she released it quite close to where they were standing, the burst quite near to their heads. It did however, illuminate the area for a moment. |

A hollow laugh emitted from the mix of smoke, rubble, dust and mist. It was one of mockery. One of a Old God. The magic which Eric had summoned and moulded had been shere destructive force and aimed straight for Lúg. Though the dust and mist was thick in the air, the outline of the God was still present. Suddenly his voice chimed, yet it was not spoken, even as all heard it. "Beware those before your eyes, Erik of the Darkness. The Langul come and with them, all things change..." Slowly the haze, the mist, and the dust settled. The street was almost destroyed, areas caving in, buildings crumbling. Lúg's figure began to distort, fading and stretching until it was mist. Falling to the floor, it seeped into the collapsed holes and cracks before it was gone once again, leaving Erik and Rin alone, anyone nearby having fled or now dead beneath rubble. |

The flash of blue light both illuminated the chamber around them and nearly blinded Erik with the sudden brightness, causing him to frown in irritation. Sometimes he did regret taking her eye. Four tunnels lead off in the cardinal directions, sewage water flowing shallowly through each. Various bits of rubble and detritus littered the walkways that hung from the walls of the tunnels and chambers. A huddled up body in one corner reeked of decay, probably long dead as it lay there. It seemed of no consequence to them, and such things were to be expected. He turned and pulled Rin up by her neck, not bothering to ask her, before pushing her back into the mixture of debris and sewage water. Erik stepped out of the water and onto the metal walkway, his greaves clanging loudly with each step. Erik: Watch where you aim next time... He's either left, or has no desire to follow us down here... I wish I could have avoided the stench getting into this outfit. Get up and let's go. As Erik moved out of the chamber, his footsteps rattled out and were met with a low snarling. He sent the odd glance over his shoulder to check that Rin was obediently following. As he whipped around to what was a moment ago a pile of bones further down the way they had came, he found it had gone. More snarls echoed from other tunnels. A movement from the direction he was walking was met with God-whim's edge, the flesh of the beast was rotten and weak as his blade sliced through it's neck. It was human, but at the same time, wrong. The flesh sunken inwards, leaving nothing but skin and bone. A mindless undead drone. Erik: That's a ghoul. That can't be possible... We have to get out of here now. More snarling echoed from the tunnels behind them as Erik grabbed Rin by the arm and dragged her with him as he ran blindly through the tunnels. -- OOC: First draft, may redo. |

As Erik pulled her up by her neck, she gasped for breath. This was a common thing; he was never kind nor gentle with her and it became worse when she did something he didn’t like. It hurt, of course, but not just on a physical level as Erik had brainwashed her into the ultimate loyalty. Love. So every time he physically hurt her, it did traumatise her but it was quickly hidden for fear of more punishment. Rin looked at him as though he had two heads as he made the comment about his outfit. Her hazel coloured eye looked down to her own, brushing debris from her expensive looking clothes. Looking around carefully, she followed her God. The tunnel stank of dark magic which had festered and gone stale, much like the stench of decaying corpses. As Erik whipped around to look past Rin, to what was a moment ago a pile of bones further down the way they had came, he found it had gone. Due to what Rin had seen in Erik’s palace, the rotten, live corpse was something that only startled her. It did disgust her, but fear was not something she felt for it as being around the God of Darkness made her immune to such things. The only hints of fear she felt, were for her master whom she would begin to protect. Erik grabbed her arm and pulled him with her, the sounds of their heels echoing down the tunnels. He clearly had no idea where he was going but the witch didn’t want to say anything. The sounds of scrambling, scratching and growling were following them, drawing closer. The brown haired girl looked over her shoulder to see a group of defiled corpses chasing after them with a fierce hunger, rabid with a craving for live flesh. Their live flesh. Rin pointed towards the corpses as she ran with her master, mumbling a quick spell. A ball of energy gathered at her fingernail before setting alight and pelting into one of the ghouls following them, setting the despoiled flesh alight quite easily. Some of the others looked to their fallen comrade in a frenzy but continued after the Dark God and his pet, more motivated seemingly. Erik turned a corner down another tunnel and pulled Rin into an alcove as the ghouls passed them. It had only bought them time. He put his arms around the one eyed witch, holding her against him. Rin knew he was not being romantic, but in fact preparing to teleport which lead her to ask “M-my master, do you have anywhere in mind?” “Nowhere in particular.” This reply alarmed Rin; to teleport, the caster has to know where they are going lest they wished to end up scattered into many different pieces. She clung to her master, hugging him tightly and silently praying they would be safe as dark energy whipped around them, enveloping. As the energy dissipated, they were gone. |
