Eklesastia Dovietkonstra

Tall, broken, alabaster columns stood somewhere in the middle of the forest, between the kingdoms, wrapped in vines and all sorts of plant life. Trees grow thick round the broken temple of Kalindra, so thick that only a few rays of light seem to get through the trees' leaves. A dried up fountain stands right infront of what seems to be the temple's opening. Or at least this is how the temple seems to the usual passerby. To those who are brave enough, or wise enough to know that everything is not what it seems in the forest, they know that the Temple of the Goddess Kalindra, is not the broken down ruin it seems to be. In truth, if one were to walk past the thin veil of magic the goddess herself cast on the temple, one would find that the temple was alive, as live as the vegetation that wrapped itself around it. The fountain cast sparkling water, singing a cheery little song with it's gurgling voice. Birds flew down and drank deep in the waters of the fountain, and the alabaster columns that hold up the temple sparkle in the sun light, with designs inlaid with gold. Sadly, few humans ever know of the place. The place was a sanctuary, blessed by the goddess Kalindra--no evil may stand in it, or the goddess herself would smite it. Her attendants, wood nymphs, elves, some humans, water sprites, and others who live in her forest are dressed in a virginal white--homage to the goddess' purity. Deep within the temple of Kalindra, one would find a tall, willowy figure on her knees, hands clasped to her chest, mumbling her prayers to the goddess. Dressed in the usual white, but with golden leaves woven through her bright red hair, the priestess of Kalindra continued her prayers to the goddess, the beauty that grew all around her not distracting her from her daily duties. Though there were many who sought and praised the goddess, it was very easy to forget the maker of it all, once they beheld the glories of the temple. The priestess, however stayed on her knees each morning, until the blessing of the goddess was upon her. It was often a sight to see, and some nymphs often gathered around and waited for the goddess to bestow her blessings among them, through the priestess' prayers. Whenever the goddess bestowed her blessings, miracles happened through the priestess. The blind saw, the lame walked, and the mute sung it's praises to Kalindra.

This time around though, no one had gathered to watch the spectacle. It was just the goddess and the priestess. A golden halo suddenly burst forth from round the crown of the priestess' head, surprising the priestess herself. Golden light shone from her hands and her face--the blessing of Kalindra herself. At this point, the priestess, Eklesastia, quickly laid down on the floor, face to the ground, muttering her praises to the goddess more fervently. The glow shone brighter and brighter--and then it began to dim. The goddess had already bestowed her blessing.

A quiet thank you escaped Eklesastia's lips as she quickly stood up, gathering her robes. A little glow remained on her face as she stepped out of the temple, feeling a quiet bliss blossom within her. Looking outside Eklesastia wondered if the goddess would permit her to just stay within the temples, basking in her glory. She could do it forever--such beauty, such peace and grace--it was easy to forget the world outside.

"You forget, Eklesastia, that if you keep goodness and not share it with the world, the world will grow evil. " A voice spoke, though only Eklesastia heard. Eklesastia nodded and smiled--her goddess had spoken. It was time for her to leave the temple and to fight the evil that grew in the hearts of godless men. Nodding, Eklesastia turned and headed towards the exit of her haven, not looking back, for she was unsure if she would be able to leave the place if she looked back. As soon as she stepped through the veil of magic, it rippled once, and when Eklesastia looked back, all she saw was the glorious ruin of the temples.
