Let's be honest now.

Just let it all out.

How much did you like Star Trek XI?

I do not want to start a flame war, but honestly, I thought it to be the most over-rated and juvenile Star Trek movie in the history of Star Trek movies.

I have also learned to appreciate all movies which do not use lens flare as a form of art!

I gave it an 8 out of 10 on it's own, then took away 10 more points for all the Spock/Uhura makeout scenes! :P So, 7 out of 10. I wouldn't have brought my kids to see it, and I'm glad I watched it on a Library DVD while they were in school! :X

I gave it a 0 out of 10. I don't like these so called reboot movies at all. So many things were wrong. From the Spock/Uhura scenes all the way down to the crazy CGI. The ailens looked like they came from the Men in Black movies. They truely did not look like Star Trek aliens. I felt poor Roddenberry's ashes rolling around.

What burns my ass most is the merciless destruction of over 40 years worth of continuity, executed in the most careless manner conceivable. The set design irony alone is well worth getting drunk over. Consider all of these fan films we have seen in the past few years. The painstaking detail and MONEY they've invested in re-creating Kirk's bridge and other sets. Abrams has Millions of $ thrown at him, so what does he do? He throws us an Apple store bridge. If fan film makers had this much dough they could have rebuilt every TOS set in painstaking detail and then some! ST XI did not even have an engine room built for the movie - It was a beer brewing facility loosely redressed, so Abrams and friends could get free beer! No Joke!

What also burns my ass is endless praise heaped upon J.J. Abrams who has never been, nor is even now, a Star Trek fan in any shape or form. Abrams has no talent. What he does have is a lot of state-of-the-art CGI technology at his fingertips. Enough to blind the casual movie-goer into believing it's a great film.

Of course Abrams is not alone. He's but one of many newbies in the film business trying to strike it big.
What antagonizes me is Paramount virtually handing him the franchise to destroy at his own leisure.

In addition, there was nothing outstanding in the cast of actors. Right now they have all become mega-stars for simply delivering a few mediocre lines in this farce. And quite honestly when I first watched XI on the big screen, I had to keep reminding myself, "This kid is playing Jim Kirk. That kid is playing Bones. That kid is supposed to be Scotty...".

I would have much preferred a proto-TNG film set around 2300 A.D. with George Takei as Captain Sulu and some young cadets with acting potential.
