I have been thinking about doing this for years, I am what you would call a PC gamer but I play on a 5 year old system that wasent up to specs then.

I was wondering what you all would recomend since im on a budget, I intend to spend no more than one thausand dollars on my purchess.

I suppose I would be better off asking on overclock.net... hmm.

well if any of you have some recomendations of good company's which make computers id like to heer them. I can't afford alien ware at least not to my knowledge so I have been looking at dell and gateway.

gateway is a really good company.

This computer i'm typing on is a Gateway. I bought it two summers ago and it still runs as fast and as well as a Swiss-watch. This one is Gateway 564GE, Intel Pentium 4 processor-bought it at Best Buy. I think thats the place to go for a computer-you can tell you all you need in the computer, and they'll tell you how much it'll cost, the best model, operating software, the works.

I have.

simply put im too cheap to buy a gameing computer. no matter what I look at I come to the conclusion that I might as well build it myself. it seems that at the $1200 range I can get more bang for my buck building it myself.

but then the problem comes of finding a vender who has a money back gurintee on all their products. at best I seem to find free replacement. if a part for any reson is incompatible or one dident arrive im out of a fair sum of money that way.

Your majesty I am more than ready for helping you with this. It just so happens that in the computer class that I am in we have gone over the EXACT same scenario as this "building the best PC for 1000 dollars" I will see what I can come up with.

Just give me some basic specs.

Amount of RAM:
Hard Drive:
OS:
Processor type:
Video card req:

and anything else that you know you want in it.

well if you want to come up with a build useing a reliable suplier I shall consider it. mainly I wanted to know if any one knew of a supplier with a money back guarantee.

my prefered specs are as follows:

Amount of RAM: 2, preferbly 4 GB running at 800 mhz or more
Hard Drive: 320GB or more 7200 minimin rpm
OS: XP or Vista
Processor type: Intel or amd duel core at 3400 or more ghz
Video card req: single 256mb card of high quality with a SLI compatibal board.
Mother board at least 1ghz system bus.

however these are rather old so im sure they can easialy be met. in fact I have done little research on the matter of late so for all I know I could get something much better for that price.

Radeon X1900 or the Nvidia GeForce 8000 series are the best video card bets when building your own computer, with Intel Core 2 Duo, and 2 gigs of ram.

That should be around that price, since building a custom computer from parts is considerably cheaper than buying a computer from the manufactures (Dell, HP, etc)
