I am very much looking forward to Unbroken, especially since shes not affiliated with Disney at all whatsoever anymore, so she can finally be herself and say what she wants to say. Its been stated that the new album is going to have more of an R&B sound, and a lot more 'soulful'. So right now I'm really wondering what to think. Her first album mainly just that tween-rock Paramore type sound, then she said her second album would be a bit more soulful which did a lot because the softer-ballad songs were absolutely amazing on that album. Another thing to worry about - the meaning of 'R&B'. From what I've seen, the true meaning of R&B would probably be my favorite genre with artists such as John Mayer, Robin Thicke, Boyz II Men, etc. But more recently I've seen that people are considering straight up pop artists such as Rhianna and Drake 'R&B'. So will she do real, classic, original R&B? Or what R&B has come to be? A.k.a "R&B Hip-Hop". I also know that she said that she hopes to do duets with Drake and Trey Songz... um, whatever happened to John Mayer and Kelly Clarkson? A few days back I found this song, and got scared half to death. I had no idea she'd go down this road, she's too talented. I didn't know what I would do if she released a whole album filled with songs like this. But thank god, it turns out that it was not really her. So afterwards I tried to see if there were any other leaked tracks around youtube, and I found a few seconds of a couple songs. From what I've heard, they actually sound pretty good and are the Demi that I like. One I enjoyed most was a track she's been talking about for quite awhile now. It's one that's half in Spanish, and features the rapper Timberland. So once again, I honestly really don't know what to expect. I find it really cool that she's working with some famous Hip-hop musicians, but I hope she stays with her original style and doesn't fall into that rap/singing category. I really don't know what I would do if that were to happen. It would be amazing to here her original style with some rap features along with it, but I can't see that happening. With her working with hip-hop artists that pretty means hip-hop R&B will be heard... So I'm hoping only those few songs with sound that way, and the rest will stay as truly soulful R&B. I can see this being a part hip-hop R&B, part soulful R&B, and part inspiring type of album. And hopefully even if I don't like the sound of some of those other tracks I will get used to them eventually. Just like how I did with the rock songs with her other albums. At first I only really liked the ballads, but now I love all of them. But we'll see how it goes down. Hopefully it'll be a good album. I can see some people saying that it will be her best - but personally, I don't think she'll ever have an album as perfect as Here We Go Again... |
