Welcome to TLF (The Lost Fantasy) -- a literate+ fantasy roleplay!

You're currently viewing our site as a guest. This pretty much means you can't post/do much of anything (though you can view a couple of boards to get an idea of this place!). If you're interested in joining, the link is just below! If you're wondering why you should join...well, we're a unique fantasy roleplay, our members are as friendly as they are active and roleplaying aside, we'll have lots of activities for you to participate in! (: Good enough for you? Then jump in! If you want more information, we'll have a page in the future. For now, the best you can do is jump in and hope for the best!

Don't freak!
Read this instead ;D
Please read this before asking any questions. If you ask a question that is already on here, you will be directed to this page.

Q: Groups? What are those?
A: When you join, you have the option to fill out a form on the Portal Page (which can be accessed merely by clicking "Portal" on the bar/side [depending on theme]) and send it to the owner, who will then sort you into a group. (Please note that it's recommended you wait a day or two before doing this so if necessary, the leader can put her own thoughts in.) Once you're sorted, you have a "Master," who is now your personal administrator and you can contact that Master for any reason or purposes.
However, you are not required to join a group. It is fully recommended, though.

Q: What's the activity like?
A: The Lost Fantasy is an extremely active site! However, most of us here are night people, so if you're a morning person, you may only be running into a few of us in the late afternoon. You also shouldn't have to worry about timezones -- there are only a few hours when everyone's asleep or not on, which are about 5:30 AM - 11 AM (give or take) Eastern Time. It's important to note also that most of us live in the United States, but our the amount of times we're on will sometimes give you the ability to simply ignore that.

Q: I'm leaving for a couple of weeks/a few days/etc. What do I do?
A: There's a board for it -- "Absences" (which is invisible to guest viewing). If you're going to be gone for any amount of time in which you think we need to know about it, you can post there. However, we do not delete members from this site unless it's banning due to serious rule breaking or breaking the rules multiple times, so don't worry -- when you get back, your account will still be here! However, we will delete your account if you ask us to (which is recommended if you plan to never return), but that's not quite the point right now.
You shouldn't have to fret if you leave for any amount of time, and we'll still be here when you get back.

Q: What's the plot? Will there be any others afterwards?
A: The Lost Fantasy always has site plots/subplots going on. Members are allowed to come up with their own subplots as well, so long as they don't make it too large and affecting of other characters who aren't really involved in their roleplay.
Our current subplot is a war between the Vampire Clan and the Werewolf Pack. Our next plot will involve a man, a journal and some hybrids.
There are pages for the plot, which can be found via the Portal, which you should learn to use if you're considering joining.

Q: How many characters am I allowed to roleplay?
A: There is a character limit of ten. However, it is possible to purchase more character slots. Click here for more information.

Q: I notice that The Lost Fantasy uses premade layouts. Why?
A: While Python, our owner and leader, is capable of putting together a lovely HTML/CSS layout, Zetaboards makes that hard in the sense that it also tends to need Javascript, which our leader has never learned. Not to mention the mere fact that the CSS is the CSS from hell, taking up about 40 pages worth of a word document in 12pt font and no spacing. Instead of spending weeks hating a layout, for now we've settled on using premades that are slightly customized for our group of people here.

Q: I'm looking to affiliate with The Lost Fantasy. How can I do this?
A: There should be a forum called "Guests" and there should be a subforum called "Affiliation / Advertising".
For quick access, just click here.

Q: I want to become a Moderator/Master -- how do I do that?
A: There are applications on the portal for such, which will also tell you how many spots we have open. Please know that you must be in a group and in the right group to apply for a master position. Right now we have no Master positions open.
If you're interested in becoming a Moderator, we're only very rarely actually looking for moderators, but you can apply at any time -- Python will still look at it, but you won't be accepted/rejected until we actually need moderators!

Q: How established are you?
A: The Lost Fantasy has been around since January 8th, 2011 -- while not the most established, we're actually pretty established ourselves. We've gone through many members during that period of time, not to mention some slow periods of inactivity and some trouble with our former hosts, TNT, but now on Zetaboards, we've become a lot more comfortable with each other and relaxed. If you don't believe us to be established, just look around -- it's not that hard to tell!

Q: TNT? As in TheNeopetsTeam?
A: That... is correct!
The Lost Fantasy was originally a Neopets roleplaying guild, so Neopets is our origin and sometimes our hatred. We ran into some great trouble with TNT as most older, roleplaying teens do, and though it took some persuasion, the members were able to convince Python to move us all off-site. While not the greatest history or most remarkable, it is our history and we are not ashamed to say so.

Q: What are those "I Survived" things under your avatar and stats?
A: Another unique feature of The Lost Fantasy's.
Python came up with this particular idea once we left Neopets behind, which is basically the whole idea that you survived doing something. So for example, if you "survived" the move from Neopets, then voila -- you get a banner!

The current, possible "I Survived" banners are:
I survived the move from Neopets ( were originally part of a guild and now join us on the site )
I survived reading the news ( go through a certain news post and post that you read it )
I survived the all-night party ( the August All-Night Party )

Some "I Survived" banners you may be seeing in the future:
I survived the Guild Wars ( December Guild Wars with NoS! )
I survived reading the rules ( read the rules )
I survived a year at TLF ( be here for our 1-year Party )

Suggestions? Contact Python!

Q: Why are there random pictures scattered on different parts of the site?
A: During the last All-Night Party, Python hosted a Scavenger Hunt. Some of the pictures from the Scavenger Hunt have not yet been taken down and you may run into them scattered around the site. If you do, tell Python so she can get rid of them. xD

Q: As a new member, how easily would I be able to fit in with the older members?
A: Actually, you'd be surprised.
The Lost Fantasy's members are amazingly welcoming and friendly, greeting new members with open arms and making you feel like you deserve to be here, rather than just ignoring you. But make sure you introduce yourself on the "First Impressions" board, if not the shoutbox! Once you introduce yourself, Python will assign you a buddy, who you can PM any questions and that person will also most likely be the first person that you roleplay with!
