Being different. (+Defense) 3. Being indecisive. (+Attack) Name: Shelke Rui Alias: Shelke The Transparent Age: 22, though she physically takes the appearance of a nine year old girl. Element: Space Race: For the moest part Shelke is human, though when in Deepground her body was used in multiple experiments, and depends on numerous doses of mako to sustain herself. Home World: Gaia Job: Shelke is a former Tsviet, considering it was stated she was “no longer needed”. She lives her life like any normal girl would, and lived with Tifa since then. Weapon: Electromagnetic Energy Sabers Magic: Digital - You levitate off the ground and create a huge wall of invisible blocks that stack in front of you and rush out against any enemies in front of you. You cannot be hit from the front for a few moments when you first activate this spell. Magnet - You create a person sized orb of magnetic energy that pulls everything towards it with decent magnetic power. If your enemy is caught directly by orb they will spin around it uncontrollably and take magnetic damage for awhile. Gravity - Instantly increase the gravity over an area for a few seconds crushing a single target. ( Must have 50 posts to equip ) Warp - Warps you out of harms way instantly, you can warp a range of up to five feet now. Bend- Causes a small area around a single target to bend into strange, caster controlled positions for a short time. Once the spell is cast the caster has complete control over the area for a few seconds. Once the spell ends the area bends back into the original position and the target takes a low amount of damage. ( Must have 50 posts to equip ) Cure - Heals up to 3 targets a little in a flash of light. Copy - You instantly create a clone of yourself that can perform any one of your special attacks (they can't use any magic spells), but it also is defeated in just one hit. It disappears into a puff of smoke when hit. Summons: None Special Techniques: Single Sword Slash – Shelke performs a single slice attack with her energy blades, dealing average or small damage depending on the opponent. Keep in mind this attack has much lower damage than any other attack Shelke uses, but has a quick performance time, and can be uses multiple times if necessary. Twirling Slash – Shelke performs a spin attack dealing moderate damage. This skill should hit anything within a few feet from her, and inflicts slightly more damage than the single sword slash. Leaping Overhead Slash – Shelke jumps in the air and slashes at the opponent, dealing a moderate amount of damage. This attack is much slower than her other stealthier attacks, but inflicts more damage. Barrier Lunge – Shelke cloaks herself in a Barrier and lunges at the enemy. She cannot receive damage from the front for the first few moments of this attack, and moves in a straight line towards the enemy. Barrier Materia – Shelke is temporarily immune to physical contact of any kind from a span of anywhere between seconds to minutes in combat, and the equivalent of such in a battle, lasting only one post. Dashing Sword Slash – Shelke dashes forward at the enemy, dealing a large amount of damage. This attack usually follows a Barrier — though it can be used by itself — and only moves in a straight line. Eight-Strike Combo – Shelke slashes at the enemy eight times, her final strike being much more lethal than the others. This attack can be very powerful, sometimes able to deal lethal damage. Transparency – Shelke can conceal herself with her environment, making her temporarily invisible, to stealthily sneak in on her opponent. She becomes visible again to attack them. Synaptic Net Dive – When away from combat, Shelke can process netwide information to aid others with her Synaptic Net Dive, also called SND, but it makes her tired and weary afterwards, and it puts her sanity at risk. Makoteria – Before leaving on her adventure, Shelke created a materia specifically designed for her needs, simply called the "Makoteria". It's purpose is to recover Shelke's exhaustion while not in battle. Though it has almost no effect other than mild healing, it has the same effect soaking in a pod of mako would have on her — and since she is addicted and mako poisoning is no longer possible — rejuvenates her. With a tool like this, she is able to maintain consciousness longer than normal with the subtle responsibility of using it several times a day. Joint Techniques: None Abilities: One Hitter - Increases power of lone attacks (no effect on combos) Guard - Blocks a single enemy attack with a perfect parry with your weapon 100% no matter what. ( Usable up to 3 times in one thread ) (50 posts / 0 for defense oriented chars) Quick Run LV2 - You can run even faster than before! You can outrun any animal now! ( Must have at least 50 posts to equip ) Magic LV1 - You are better with magic now, O.K damage and healing. Have 4 MP ( 50 posts / 0 for magic oriented chars ) Limit Breaks: Dendrobium – Shelke creates three rows of four Barriers that surround her. After a movement of Shelke’s hand, the Barriers move in an extremely fast outwards motion, rotating and slamming into anything in their path. The barrier may hit anywhere between four to twelve times, depending on the enemies placement. Each hit deals a large amount of damage, and can be lethal if more than 9 hits are dealt. The Limit gets its name from the flower like shape the Barriers resemble if someone happens to be looking down on them from above, as well as the Barrier’s purple color. Spherephlox – Shelke creates a spherical barrier around her, then creates three small spiked, spherical Barrier that rotates at an astounding speed, traveling across the battlefield and hitting anything in its path. It can hit one opponent three times, one hit per spiked Barrier. In total, it deals a large amount of damage. Tenuous Ghost – Shelke conceals herself , except for her weapons, and creates three copies of herself. To anyone else, it looks as if the sabers are floating. The copies face back to back and unleash a devastating spin-combo, then the copies disappear and Shelke is visible again. This deals a fairly large amount of damage. Character Description: ![]() Shelke has the appearance of a nine year old child with short, auburn hair that is flipped outward on both sides. In combat, she wears the suit given to her by the Tsviets, and wields dual electromagnetic energy sabers. Casually, she wears a pink polo shirt with a white collar, a brown skirt, red waist sash, and navy converse-like shoes. Biography: Shelke was born in 1991 and lived with her sister, Shalua Rui up until was nine years old, when she was abducted and experimented on, which permanently halted her aging. Since then, she has become dependent on daily mako treatments to keep her sturdy, and otherwise becomes very tired and ill. After being experimented on, she began to work for the Tsviets for the soul purpose of locating the Protomateria. Her main skill within the Tsviets is retrieving information from the Worldwide Network by means of a Synaptic Net Dive, or SND. However, her skills are not limited to computers. She carries a pair of electromagnetic sabers, which resemble orange lightsabers. Before the Tsviets ran Deepground, however, Deepground was run by the cruel Restrictors who constantly tortured his test subjects to create the perfect killing machines. None of the other Deepground soldiers can fight against him, for they have a chip in their brain which restricts their actions. Shelke uses the Synaptic Net Dive to aid one Tsviet trainee who has not had the chip implanted into their mind, and fills their mind with false memories of a younger sister who was killed by the Restrictors for the purpose of motivating the trainee. She even created a simulation named Usher to guide the trainee. Eventually the trainee became a Tsviet and was sent on a mission to revolt against the Rescrictors In the end, however, the player learns that he or she has been misled. The hope was that the player would take the Restictor's place so that Shinra would not notice the revolt, but the player character's mind had already collapsed, and the Tsviet dies. She fights two battles with Vincent Valentine and afterward is sedated. When the Tsviets invade the WRO headquarters, Shelke confronts her sister and refuses to go home. Shortly after Azul states she is no longer needed, Shalua holds an automated door open as her arm is slowly crushed. Eventually after some persuading, Shelke passes through the door, and a transparent liquid can be seen pouring through the door. Since then, Shalua’s body has been kept in a pod, similar to the ones people who’ve been experimented on rested in, and revealed to be in an unwakable coma. Shortly after, Shelke calls her sister a fool for sacrificing herself for her, only to be slapped by Yuffie, who left in an emotional fit shortly after. Vincent, who’s conversed with Shalua earlier, tells Shelke she was the only reason Shalua continued to live on, and died for her precisely for that reason. Shelke, in confusion, asks why someone would “give their life for that of another”, and is told sometimes giving your life for someone you care about is the least you can do. Shortly after, she stumbles and falls to the floor, now weak. Later, Reeve approaches Vincent and tells him the Omega Reports he’s collected were incomplete. Wanting to help Vincent, she reveals that some of Lucrecia’s data was stored within her mind, and she might be able to complete the reports with the missing information stored within her brain, as told by the Tsviets in attempt to collect the Protomateria. As a result of the data, some of Lucrecia’s memories, thoughts, and emotions were stored in her brain, too, compelling her to help Vincent, also helping her regain her own emotions. When she reveals Lucrecia’s data was in her mind, however, she does not mention her reasons for helping him, and on the Shera with Reeve, states she is only helping for “her own benefit”, but hesitates shortly afterwards as her emotions begin to speak otherwise. While on the Shera, she uses the SND to help direct the WRO staff around on the war mission, where the Tsviets and the WRO have their final stand. When Vincent arrives at Midgar, Shelke decides to walk around on the Shera, and confronts her old comrade, Nero, and is kidnapped with the aid of his dark powers. She survives using only a Barrier, and is rescued by Vincent. After she is safe, Vincent confronts Weiss and Omega. After the battle, they all manage to make it back alive, and Shelke lived with Tifa since then. Several years have passed and Shelke has decided to start travelling on her own. Though, this has proven to be quite risky, considering she must return often for mako and her other daily needs, though she managed to invent a little something that would compromise for this. She stored pure mako into materia, rather than adding alternatives for a barrier and other materia fusion ingredients. Personality: Shelke sometimes seems emotionless and reacts very little to situations others would be offended or upset at, and uses logic to back up most of her decisions. However, she does have a very shy and childish side since her previous adventure, and she tends to babble often about the Synaptic Net Dive, and even her former work with the Tsviets. Since Lucrecia’s data is in her mind, she sometimes feels what Lucrecia was feeling, and has grown an emotional attachment Vincent because of this. She has a habit of saying some insensitive things, but quickly replaces them with an apology or a shy remark. So far, she seems to have an odd sense of justice, and claims to do things for her own benefit, when she purely works for other people. She tends to put others happiness in front of her own, and as a result becomes very stressed, but doesn’t show it. Shelke’s emotionlessness has deteriorated slightly, and her constant shy responses have begun to take on the form of a personality of her own. Even though she has an odd sense of justice, she has a good heart. She is used to following orders, but now she helps people because she wants to. Rather than getting angry or irrational, she displays a slight irritation and often retorts in sentences explaining her point of view in a calm, monotonic voice. Though her emotions are slowly returning, anger is a concept she has yet to grasp, and does not understand it completely. Most of her emotions presently are influenced off of others, Lucrecia’s memories, as well as that of her own. Some might even mistake Shelke for a Nobody when first meeting her, just because of her dull way of speaking. RP Sample: Though it has been several years since the events of her last adventure, and she wished for more. Out of such wish, she even decided to leave Tifa's solitary home with nothing but a note in her neat, tiny, handwriting explaining she would be back... In maybe a month or longer. Shelke was not one to make stupid mistakes, and even brought an invention of her own: a tiny little green materia filled with nothing other than pure, condensed mako. The handy thing about it was that it could last up to ten years at most, keeping her up and awake as long as she wished. Though, there were a few disadvantages through such technique. Rather than simply using it on yourself like a normal materia, it's contents have to be extracted through a needle then injected. It was a work in progress, but a the little sting was worth staying awake. Shelke currently sat in the grassy field above Midgar, the one above Midgar and Edge, and sighed. She didn't know where to go, but she wanted atleast some sense of adventure. Plus there was the fact Tifa would only let her use the SND in times of emergency. How could Shelke give up all that knowledge? All that data at her fingertips? To live without such things... It sometimes makes me question how much I hated Deepground. She thought for a moment. "...
