Biography: Years ago, Ansem the Wise reigned over the once peaceful world known as Radiant Garden, monikered the "City of Light", with a gentle, loving hand with the appreciated aid of his treasured apprentices. In his exuberant castle, he and his five apprentices researched ways to make the city impregnably free from peril. Though his kingdom was pure of menace, the lurking threat of danger befalling upon his land was far too much of an affluence to ignore, the sage mused periodically at night. On one fateful day, one of his beloved apprentices, Braig, told him of a young man who fell into unconsciousness on the cold tiles of his city's floors. The man appeared fine, but was stricken with amnesia and could possibly need thorough medical attention, Braig reported. Wasting no time and bringing along one of his castle's guards, Dilan, the king made his way to said boy and crouched down to inspect him in greater detail. "Can you speak? Tell me your name." "Xeha...nort." "Xehanort?" After meekly uttering his assigned designation, the young man once again slipped into abeyance. "Quickly, get him to the castle!" After gathering up the young man suspended in lethe, Braig instructed Dilan to collect the presumed boy's armor and...Keyblade? This man was an interesting one indeed if he was possibly a Keyblade Wielder as well. In truth, however, regardless if the unconscious silvernette was a Wielder or not, the fact that the man stumbled into his kingdom in an amnesiac state before shortly collapsing, puzzled the blonde haired sage. He, and surely his cherished apprentices as well, would work hard to recollect the lost memories embedded deep in Xehanort's subconscious. As the king of Radiant Garden, it was simply in his nature to help his people in any way that he could. As years traversed slowly, Ansem's previous musing of a threat ensuing on his lands took the form of Darkness. Precisely, the darkness that resides in one's heart and the power it could unleash in the wrong, no, in anyone's hands. Taking a great interest in the subject, his apprentices did as well, Ansem studied for ways to experiment on the wonder of a person's heart. His latest made apprentice, Xehanort, offered up his own heart for the sake of their research. My efforts these many years have come to fruition, with the world I govern having become a paradise worthy of being called "Radiant Garden." Nurtured by the pure water that is the source of life, fragrant flowers bloom in abundance, and the people face each day with hopeful smiles. But where there is light, darkness also lurks. As noted in my earlier reports, I must solve the mystery of this "darkness of the heart." This paradise depends on it. I shall perform an experiment to probe the depths of a person's heart. One of my own apprentices, Xehanort, has volunteered to be a subject. The young man has served me ever since I nursed him back from death's door some years ago. He had lost all his memories at the time, but later showed remarkable intellectual curiosity and readily absorbed my teachings, gaining deep wisdom. Any mental immaturity is surely due to his young age. If I explore Xehanort's heart with psychological tests, I may be able to recall the past locked away within. My apprentice Even has also shown great interest in Xehanort's memories. But is he really the right subject? Xehanort does indeed exhibit extraordinary talents... Too extraordinary... Perhaps they are even superhuman. Ansem the Wise soon found out that he had made a grave mistake. On the request of his youngest apprentice, Ienzo, the king assembled a capacious laboratory for the sole purpose of hastening the fruits of their extensive research and experiments. This edifice of study, however, was used by his six apprentices to conduct inhumane experimentation on the human heart and the darkness within it. Upon uncovering this horrid truth, Ansem the Wise was stricken with grief. This was not the way he envisioned their research to follow through! Could they not see the error of their ways….or where they unable to? Had probing Xehanort's heart truly been a foolish idea? Was his act of idiocy the cause of the unwanted testing going on in his castle's basement? Of course it was. He was the starter of these experiments and he alone would have to suffer the consequences and amend them. Ansem firmly ordered his apprentices to cease their vile experiments and discard any of the results obtained from them. With a heavy heart plunged in anguish, he fastened the doors to his laboratory shut. That laboratory and the experiments on Xehanort's heart were miscalculations on Ansem's part solely, miscalculations he wished he could simply forget, but alas the pained king, instead, rued his actions over a brief period of depression. Depression. Though a scholar on the subject of the Heart, the wise king could not overcome the despair that troubled him. No, in fact the destroyer of his sorrow arrived in the body of a mouse. King Mickey Mouse, ruler of Disney Castle, was a kind and hearty fellow, but also well versed in the knowledge of the worlds and was a Wielder of a Keyblade. It was not long before the insightful and enjoyable conversations shared between them evolved into a great friendship. A friendship heavily needed to quell the pang in Ansem's heart. Ansem's newly acquired small friend suggested that he should look over the research data from the experiments. Succumbing to the curiosity bestowed onto him since birth, Ansem reviewed over the data. It appeared that Xehanort had written reports over the experiments under Ansem's own name, a reason the wise king could not fully understand. Perhaps his foolishness in engaging into matters best left alone caused far greater after-effects than he had first imagined. I have made a grave mistake. My study of the "darkness of the heart" began with a simple psychological test and quickly snowballed. Spurred on by my youngest apprentice, Ienzo, I constructed a massive laboratory in the basement of my castle. Unbeknownst to me, my six apprentices then began collecting a large number of subjects on which to perform dangerous experiments into the "darkness of the heart." As soon as I found out, I called my apprentices together and ordered them not only to cease their studies, but to destroy the results of their research thus far. What on earth was happening within the hearts of my six beloved apprentices? While pursuing the mystery of the darkness of the heart, could they themselves have strayed into its depths? Yet I remain the most foolish of all, for having begun these experiments. We are not meant to interfere in the depths of another's heart, no matter what our reasons for doing so... And my error plunged me into despair A visitor from another world soothed my dejected soul. A tiny king named Mickey came wielding a legendary key — the infamous "Keyblade," said to bring both chaos and prosperity to the world. He was very knowledgeable on many topics, and we deepened our friendship as we conversed companionably. Upon his advice, I decided to review the data obtained at my basement lab. That is when I discovered the "Ansem's Reports." Though they bore my name, the only one I had written was number 0. Apparently he had gone on to pen numbers 1 through 8 himself. Yes — the first subject in my foolish experiments. The experiments were heinous indeed, but the results produced by them were unimaginable. If Xehanort's hypothesis was in fact true, then there was no doubt that the Heartless' ultimate goal was to consume the heart of the world. The feeding on such a massive energy would indubitably bring harm to their world and others worlds to come. Reaching towards such energy would be disastrous as well... What had he done? Could his past mistakes really have turned Xehanort into this direction of darkness? No, Xehanort did not walk this path of pitch blackness alone it appeared. Ansem's other apprentices, his children, could not pull themselves away from the gravitational force of the tenebrae attracting their curious minds. Their betrayal did not cease there for they evicted their mentor to the endless depths of the realm of nothingness. Ansem was enraged by their cast judgement! They had planned this all along, but for what possible notion? What would happen to his people? Did he really want to know the answer? No. He already knew. Examining over his new residence of darkness, Ansem discarded his old name to a designation more fitting of him than any. Darkness in Zero, DiZ for short. The light in his heart was diminishing fast in resentment to his apprentices deeds and he would make sure they'd pay for their foolish actions. Chaos affects not only this world, but many other worlds besides. In the "Ansem's Reports" my apprentice Xehanort had written under my name, I found the records of his hideous experiments along with his hypothesis about the door that had appeared out of the darkness in my basement. All living things have hearts, and all hearts hold darkness deep within. Worlds are no exception. If a world is a being, the heart it holds must be colossal... ...and the darkness at its core must be monstrous indeed. Did Xehanort pass through that door in an attempt to contact that dark realm? No, not only Xehanort. It appears my other five apprentices, believing it was for the sake of research, stared deep into the darkness and were pulled into it. Even, Ienzo, Braig, Dilan, and Aeleus... They have ceased to be human. I, too, have had everything taken away from me, banished to a hollow realm of nothingness. What is Xehanort hoping to gain with my pilfered existence? Will my people cease to smile? If the light of hope has been extinguished, I shall henceforth walk with darkness as a friend. Here, in the realm of nothingness to which I have been relegated. Darkness in the midst of nothing. "Darkness in Zero." Thus, I shall be known as DiZ. Discarding the stolen name "Ansem"... And going in search of revenge. Days passed, weeks passed, possibly even years passed (time was but a stark mirage in the Realm of Darkness) as Ansem the once Wise sauntered meaninglessly along the land devoid of anything and everything. The only reminder of his sense of self was the undying rage boiling in his heart caused by his former beloved apprentices and of the hatred he had plagued upon himself for allowing himself to be easily duped. (Writing his own personal reports helped as well.) Pushing aside the darkness slowly consuming his heart, Ansem ruminated what plans Xehanort and his ex-apprentices had in mind. The Ansem's Reports popped up in the eye of the storm racking his subconscious. Their schemes were surely in connection with the Heartless, which only spelt destruction. Ansem agreed to himself that he would stop their planning in any way that he could. He wronged the worlds, his world and his people. It was his duty to set things right again. Ansem had established a certain association between the Heartless and his apprentices' plans, but that was useless if he did not understand the Heartless' come into being and their own goals. Though concept of time in this realm of nothingness was obscure, Ansem knew he could not waste any precious minutes to understand the Heartless. He had to figure them out quickly. His own goals and his heart depended on it. The distant days spent in that beautiful paradise are an illusion to me now. How long have I been here, banished to the realm of nothingness? It is only by relying upon my anger and hatred that I have been able to retain my sense of self here where all existence is nullified. My heart is being overcome with hatred toward my apprentices, possessed by the darkness, and with the anger I feel for stupidly allowing myself to be betrayed. Is this darkness, eating away at my heart? I cannot continue to idle away my time here. What are Xehanort and the others attempting to do? I must unravel the mystery of these Ansem's Reports, intercept my apprentices, and defeat them. That is my mission...the only way to repay the world for my sins. Those beings who lack hearts—the Heartless—must be the key. The darkness of the heart, made flesh. Cursed shadows who not only lack hearts, but multiply by seizing hearts from any and all living things. Where have they come from, and where are they going? Three elements combine to create a life: a heart, a soul, and a body. But what of the soul and body left behind when the heart is lost? When the soul leaves the body, its vessel, life gives way to death, but what about when the heart leaves? A being does not perish when its heart leaves its body. The heart alone disappears into the darkness. There is little time. If I remain in this realm much longer, I will certainly learn these answers the hard way. My heart is already a captive of the darkness. Accepting darkness into his heart was a decision that granted Ansem the power of darkness. It was a decision he did not regret in the slightest. In the realm of nothingness, why should one reject or fear darkness when it surrounds them so? As the darkness enveloped his being, Ansem could now understand the tug his apprentices must've felt when they took a sip of its strong concoction. The pull was sturdy indeed, but it was something he could handle. He would not succumb to this power as such his apprentices did. He would use it as a simple tool to obtain his goals. Nothing more, nothing less. Once the darkness was fully under his control, Ansem experimented with it to test its bounds. Reaching outward, palms open, an oval shaped mass of darkness appeared before him. How odd, Ansem mused while inspecting it. The ex-sage took a cautious step inside of the dark entity and before he knew it, he was in a world graced with the beauty of a sunset. He was…..in another world. Remarkable! It was a pathway that linked the realm of nothingness to other worlds, a "corridor of darkness" in a sense. With this new discovery, his goal was in definite reach. Mimicking his previous action, Ansem opened up another "corridor of darkness" and stepped into it in hopes of returning to the realm of nothingness. If he envisioned his desired destination, the pathway would surely take him there. He was still in the sunsetting world. It appeared he was in clear need of practice with this newfound ability. After a couple more tries, the amber eyed man managed, somehow, to return to the world bare of anything. Adorning himself in a red robe and a mask of red bandages to hide away his identity, Ansem, or better yet DiZ, gathered intel over Xehanort and his apprentices. He was right in his musings related to the connection between the Heartless and Xehanort. It appeared Xehanort had become one of them and used Ansem's name to command other Heartless to seek out the hearts of many different worlds. His ultimate goal was Kingdom Hearts, an existence that attracted ample amounts of darkness. The other five are gone, DiZ noticed. Are they gone or were they simply discarded by Xehanort the moment he was finished with them? DiZ, with the need to know, stumbled upon a new concept to his ears. If a being loses its heart to a Heartless, then the soul and body do not disappear. They are instead reborn as entirely new beings. Could that have happened to them? Could that have happened to Xehanort as well? My choice to befriend darkness here in the midst of nothingness was a sound one. The moment I stared straight ahead with a calm heart, neither rejecting darkness nor fearing it, I gained a newfound power. A superhuman power—the power of darkness. It is likely Xehanort and the others were enraptured by this power, eventually becoming its prisoners. I do not intend to allow my heart to be devoured by the darkness, as they did, of course. With this new power, I uncovered a "corridor of darkness" that connects the realm of nothingness to the outside world. While it is still difficult to come and go as I please, my banishment is now a thing of the past. To deceive Xehanort and my apprentices, I first used my power to change form before returning to the realm of light. As I had suspected, Xehanort had become a Heartless. Under my name, he commanded other Heartless in quests to snatch away the hearts of many different worlds. At the center of the heart Xehanort has stolen was "Kingdom Hearts," which attracts tremendous darkness itself and attempts to send any and all matter back into its depths. The other five have disappeared. Have they become Heartless, like Xehanort? Or did they vanish after Xehanort exploited them? I became familiar with an unusual "entity" while pursuing the truth. It is the soul and body that remain when a being loses its heart. When a Heartless is born, these entities disappear from the realm of light, to be reborn as entirely new beings in a completely different realm. DiZ, in search of a place to analyse to his fullest capacity, recrudesced to the sunsetting world, which he found out was titled Twilight Town. A fitting name for a town encompassed with a beautiful twilight. DiZ strolled across the town until he fell upon an abandoned mansion on the outskirts. The basement of the mansion was grand and perfectly fitted the requirements to construct a research facility within it. Wasting no time, DiZ built his new underground laboratory and began his research. DiZ's previous assumptions to the forgotten bodies and souls of his apprentices and other beings proved to be correct. They were indeed born as entirely new beings and though he was not sure what exactly they were, it was clear that they were the cause of such turmoil in the world. Cloaked in shadows, DiZ observed his former friend the King with his subjects, a duck and dog, and another Keyblade Wielder from afar. A young boy with hair resembling a porcupine fought alongside the King and his subjects against the Heartless, oblivious to the danger that these new entities posed. Also unaware of Xehanort's true scheme. This young hero….DiZ could see potential in him later on… Continuing his study of these new "beings", DiZ learned that they had dubbed themselves "Nobodies". It was a name that fit them to a T, in DiZ's mind. These Nobodies were alike to the Heartless in the way that they lost their human visage once the heart was extracted. However, someone with a strong heart could maintain their humanly form, but with minor changes. This happened to his apprentices apparently. They had grown, he sneered bitterly in his mind, as he watched his betrayers wander in search for more pawns to join them in their doubtless despicable schemes. "Organization XIII" they called themselves, with his 6 apprentices the core members of the group. Resent filled his heart once again at the sight of the traitors. Even, a once young man blessed with intellect that could rival his own and who had also took interest in collecting Xehanort's lost memories, was now under a new name, Vexen, the Chilly Academic and was the organization's denoted scientist. Small, quiet Ienzo, who had enjoyed peaceful strolls along the streets of Radiant Garden with a bar of Sea Salt Ice Cream in hand, was now the organization's deviser shrouded in the background, clearly contemplating plans unknown to DiZ and possibly even his own colleagues. His designation was now Zexion, the Cloaked Schemer. Braig retained his ever friendly persona, or better yet "pretended" to retain it. DiZ could vaguely remember the numerous times the young man tried to lighten up the wise king's day by introducing to him new games invented by the kids of his kingdom. Those shared laughs were now long forgotten and that eyepatch wearing apprentice was now Xigbar, the Freeshooter. Aeleus and Dilan, his former stern, no-nonsense guards of his castle remained somewhat the same. Strong and only spoke when the situation called for it. They were definitely the powerhouses of the organization, ready to take care of unwanted nuisances. Lexaeus, the Silent Hero and Xaldin, the Whirlwind Lancer were now their new names, respectively. If his memory recalled correctly, the sight of bright sapphire and flaming crimson in the group resembled two young lads that had snuck into his castle shortly after the arrival of the amnesiac Xehanort. Their visit was cut short when Dilan threw them out, quite literally. (Ansem told him to be careful with the teens, but "careful" was not in Dilan's vocabulary he supposed.) He didn't quite catch what their names were. And finally, Xehanort's Nobody, the man in charge of these flock of non-beings. He called himself Xemnas, the Superior of the In-Between. DiZ was unsure of his goals, but he would continue monitoring the congregation in secret. He soon heard news that six of the members had re-located to a castle under their control in the depths between light and dark, titled Castle Oblivion. With this newly obtained piece of info., DiZ headed towards this castle settled in the in-between. While beings born of darkness and those lacking hearts may find them convenient, it is dangerous for others to make much use of the corridors of darkness. Darkness erodes the heart. In search of a place to proceed with my research and planning away from prying eyes, I found myself in "Twilight Town." It is a quiet village, forgotten in the chasm between light and darkness. I situated myself in the basement of an abandoned mansion standing beyond the woods. My underground research resulted in one new discovery after another. When a Heartless is born, the body and soul left behind are reborn into this world as a different being. They possess different intentions than their Heartless brethren, and while it is unclear what these sentient "things" are after, it would appear they are responsible for much bedlam in the world. My erstwhile friend the King and his subjects, along with a hero wielding the Keyblade, are battling the Heartless even as a new threat approaches. This new threat...they have given themselves a fitting name, I suppose. These non-beings: "Nobodies." A great number of Nobodies have lost human form, as have the Heartless. Yet the Nobody born of someone with a strong heart retains its shape, with but the faintest visible changes. It appears my betrayers have retained their human forms as Nobodies, and are gathering more followers in hopes of furthering a new scheme. "Organization XIII," formed of 13 Nobodies with my betrayers at its core, has divided into two; they are said to be carrying out some sort of research. Seeking to uncover the plans of this Organization, I have decided to head for where six of its members have gathered. Towering over the outer limits of the realm between darkness and light: Castle Oblivion. DiZ, lost in his desire to achieve his craved revenge against the ones that had ailed him so, almost consigned to oblivion the dire efforts his friends were putting forth to obstruct the goals of Xehanort's Heartless, now self named "Ansem, Seeker of Darkness". The young hero proved himself to be useful to DiZ after all for he defeated "Ansem" with the help of the King's subjects. His quondam good friend the King in turn ventured into the realm of darkness and with the help of the Keyblade wielding hero closed the door to Kingdom Hearts to terminate the potential possibility of vast quantities of darkness dispersing across the lands. One threat was wiped from the plains, but other dangers were still of existence (some not an existence) on the surface. DiZ made an oath to apologise to the worlds by causing the disruption and he planned on seeing through with his revenge against the betrayers. Focusing back on his task at hand, DiZ identified the organization's purpose in the castle. They went back to their roots and regulated experiments, but not on hearts this time around, but on memory. Why? Had they forgotten their accursed crimes against mankind, against the worlds (against him)? Was Xemnas suffering a period of memory loss just as his Other had? Their research revolved around a young girl named Namine who possessed powers that were akin to a witch. Endowed with the power to control the memories of others, Namine was the key to their research. Perhaps they wished to acquire something from her powers? What exactly he did not know, but he could not pursue this train of thought for a certain Keyblade warrior and his friends made their appearance. DiZ monitored the actions of the young hero and his companions, but the heart conflicted with and between light and darkness intrigued him far more. This "Riku" was an interesting boy. What path lay before him? What path, in the end, would he choose? This "game" had its players in check, now it was time for the countdown to begin and the game to takes its toll. It appears that I have been too distracted by the behavior of Xehanort and his cohorts, and the events occurring in their vicinity. My friends' struggle to protect the realm of light from the threat of Heartless is now over, with Xehanort's Heartless—going by the name Ansem, Seeker of Darkness—defeated at last. The other wielder of the Keyblade, this "hero," traveled from world to world sealing up keyholes and laying Heartless low. Meanwhile, the King, who had dived into the realm of darkness, worked with the Keyblade-wielding hero to close the door to Kingdom Hearts from the realms of both darkness and light, thus holding off the threat of tremendous darkness. But there are still a great number of Heartless afoot, and Organization XIII and the Nobodies continue to be active in the shadows. Indeed, the world is still a very dangerous place. We must find a way to do battle with these enemies. Thus I will both make amends and have my revenge. It is for this reason that I infiltrated Castle Oblivion. It consists of 13 floors above and 12 floors below ground, with the contents of its "White Rooms" transforming in response to its visitors' memories. Organization XIII was conducting experiments on memory here. The subject in these experiments, a girl named Namine, appeared to possess extremely unusual abilities. Were they attempting to derive something from these powers? Refusing to be distracted by Organization XIII, I had returned to my own secret research when a new visitor appeared at the castle today. It was Sora, the Keyblade-wielding hero who had defeated Ansem, and his companions. Deep underground, the stench of darkness arose. All the players are coming together, it would seem. Contacting Riku's body via voice in that realm of gray nothingness was an easy feat for the ex-king. He presented before the boy a card of Hollow Bastion. It was a simple test to see if Riku would indeed prove useful to DiZ's plans. Would he remain in the safe embrace of sleep or take hold of the card in a firm grasp and conquer the darkness concealed in his heart? The boy took the card. He chose wisely. Riku overcoming his darkness and possibly, in time, destroying members of the Organization spelt out a win/win situation for DiZ. Investing in the boy was a prosperous move undoubtedly. His thirst for vengeance would soon be quenched. After his battle with Maleficent, DiZ, disguised as "Ansem, Seeker of Darkness", appeared before Riku. It was another test. Would the boy willingly allow his darkness to envelope him again or would he follow the path of light? Riku proved himself once again and did not fall to DiZ's taunts, though with the help of a ball of light. There was no doubt in his mind that that voice belonged to his once good friend the King, but now was not the time for much wanted reunions. Impressed by the boy's resistance towards the path of darkness, DiZ acquainted the boy with another card. If the boy could advance through the worlds without capitulating with the darkness in his heart, Riku would truly be an indispensable asset to his goals. Riku accepted his challenge without a second thought. Oh yes, this boy was truly promising. Before his leave, DiZ gave Riku a parting gift, a gift for the boy to better control his creeping darkness. DiZ appeared before the boy once again disguised as "Ansem, Seeker of Darkness" in the market center of Twilight Town. DiZ stood ready in a battle pose he was sure befitted the Heartless of his ex-apprentice and challenged Riku once more, but the silvernette was unfazed. "You're not the true Ansem." He had said. Oh, how wrong he was, DiZ mused mentally before dropping his facade. The boy was sharp, a good trait in their time of chaos. Now embellished with the scent to trace darkness, Riku was able to compare the scents of the Ansem in his heart to the "impostor" before him. DiZ was most impressed though by how the young boy connected the dots and realised that DiZ had in fact been pulling the strings from the get go. DiZ allowed his disguise to ebb away into the atmosphere and formally introduced himself to the strange boy who stood in the twilight. After courtly advising the boy to choose either the path of light or darkness once he met up with Namine, DiZ took his leave. He looked forward to the boy's decision though he had a glimmer of an idea of what the choice would be. Sora went to sleep in order to recover the memories he had lost in Castle Oblivion. It would take quite some time to bring back all the memories he had created in his lifetime. But Organization XIII held sway over Castle Oblivion. Sora would need to be kept someplace more secure. I persuaded Namine to move the slumbering Sora to Twilight Town for safekeeping. Namine. As I have written before, she is a most unusual being. Born of the same process as a Nobody, but lacking virtually all the elements of a Nobody. Perhaps she continues drawing in hopes of capturing that which she lacks: the memories of others, especially Sora. I have arrived at a hypothesis. I believe that Namine was born as a special type of Nobody when Sora attacked himself with the Keyblade, causing his and Kairi's hearts to leave their bodies simultaneously. Namine emerged as Kairi's Nobody...but the body and soul necessary to exist as a Nobody belonged to Sora. When a person's heart is stolen, a Heartless is born with no sense of self, and the body and soul left behind give rise to a Nobody. But what if one willingly releases one's heart from one's body? Sora and Xehanort retained their selfhood even after becoming Heartless. Then there are Kairi and Namine. Kairi was exceptional for having had no darkness within her heart. Also exceptional was that her heart, once freed, migrated to a new vessel—Sora. The combination of the two theoretically unlikely exceptions may be behind this anomaly. There are matters I must attend to while Sora is sleeping. A new ally has appeared on the scene: Riku. DiZ peered over Riku's advancement into his basement located in the abandoned mansion in Twilight Town to meet up with Namine as he instructed. The chessman were all gathering to his delight. The sliver Knight would aid and protect his slumbering King with the servitude of the bewitched Pawn. But one chess piece arrived unexpectedly. His old friend, his scholarly companion from memories long out of reach. The King. Blast his accursed pseudo guise for hindering a reunion most craved from DiZ! But it was undoubtedly necessary. He could not face his erstwhile friend in his true semblance for he knew in his gut the King would object to his desire for retribution and that was something DiZ did not want to hear. His mind was set on his plan and he would follow through with it to the end, using any and all possible peons needed. Magically tuning into the conversation shared between the witch and Riku, DiZ informed the King what Riku's decision was. The ex-king figured the boy would choose to face his own darkness instead of falling into a sleep of purification. DiZ could not but help feel the scrutinizing gaze of the King as he explained Riku's choice. He only hoped his disguise would not fail him. Saving his questioning for later, the King toddled to the door where Riku would venture out of. It was interesting to note the reversal of roles in that moment. Instead of both the King and Riku on one side of the egress, they were in fact on opposite sides, resembling the closing of the Door to Darkness along with the Keyblade Wielder Sora. DiZ was rebounded back to reality by the entrance of Riku. DiZ walked up to the two and handed them Organization coats to assist them in remaining hidden from the Organization's inspections. DiZ bestowed Riku with a final card, the card to face the darkness in his heart and conquer it for good. It was time to end this phase of the ex-sage's plan and move onward. Before returning to Namine's side, DiZ appeared once again in front of the duo to propose one last choice to Riku. Would he take the road to darkness or the road to light? This was it. The foremost purpose of taking an interest in the boy. Riku denounced both roads and instead chose the middle path. Ah, the twilight road to nightfall, a fitting choice for the boy. Riku corrected the red enigma, however. It was not the twilight road to nightfall, no, instead it was: "The road to dawn." Agnate words to the young boy in the twilight. The slumber of Sora and his companions dragged on for far too long. Sora was the vital key in DiZ's plot. Sora's memories were returning too slowly, possibly because of his Nobody, Roxas. He was a special Nobody like Namine. He came into being through Sora's body and soul, but was left behind because Sora's Heartless regained human form using Kairi's heart instead of his own. Regardless, time was of the essence. If Sora's awakening was in a delay because of him lacking his Other then they would have to retrieve it. However, that would not be an easy feat seeing as how the non-being was apart of the Organization XIII. DiZ's answer to his problem arrived in the form of a blindfolded young man. Riku. He told DiZ he would do anything for his somnolent friend and DiZ wasted no time in asking if the silvernette would fetch the hero's Nobody. The boy left without a single objection. DiZ was astonished by Riku's utter devotion to Sora and couldn't help but ponder if his need for vengeance was at all justified. DiZ hid his equivocation in laughter. He would continue with his plans. If not for him personally, then for the sake of the worlds. Or, at least that is what he told himself. I was reunited with an old friend at Castle Oblivion, but was unable to disclose my identity. If he knew the situation, he would likely try to stop me from carrying out my revenge. As much as I would dearly love to converse with him as in the old days...that is now but a hopeless dream. My friend has been fighting in the realm of darkness. Most likely he found his way there through Traverse Town. Like Castle Oblivion, that village also rests in the cleft between light and dark. It consists of the remnants of worlds whose hearts have been stolen by the Heartless. It is where those who have barely escaped the destruction of their worlds eventually find themselves. This "realm between" is quite unstable, with corridors of darkness appearing from time to time. Whenever a world disappears, some of its inhabitants must arrive here through these corridors. Surely Sora traveled these same corridors of darkness when he first came to Traverse Town. It seems my friend, fighting in the realm of darkness, appeared in Castle Oblivion through a corridor of darkness constructed by Organization XIII. My new ally Riku also effected his return via one of these corridors. He swore to me he would give his all for his best friend Sora. In fact, Sora's memories have been slow to return. Thus I have asked Riku to bring me another Sora—his Nobody. Sora is indispensable if I am to achieve my goal. I require the Keyblade-wielding hero to fly through the realm of light and defeat Organization XIII. As previously thought, obtaining the Nobody proved difficult, but Riku prevailed. Worried by the advancements of the Organization, DiZ converted Roxas into data and placed the Nobody in a simulated world of Twilight Town to contain the non-being while deceiving the ameliorations of the Organization. Converting the people's hearts of the real Twilight World into data was affirmed possible, but suffered glitches, just as the same with the duplicated world. It seemed the understanding of hearts was for sure a goal unobtainable by the scholar or anyone in fact, but he would still try regardless of what his heart believed. Awaiting the slumber of Sora's to cease, DiZ planted all of his research data into the boy. If the disguised man failed in his quest to set things right once more, this young hero would certainly succeed. Apart from Namine, Nobodies retain their memories of their time as humans, but Sora's Nobody, Roxas, has lost Sora's memories. This is likely because Sora's time as a Heartless was short, having recovered his heart and returned to his human form soon after leaving behind Roxas, his Nobody. It would seem Roxas is much like Namine. Namine is Kairi's Nobody, but came into being via Sora's body and soul. Likewise, Roxas is Sora's Nobody, but was left behind because Sora's Heartless regained human form using Kairi's heart instead of his own. It may be that Sora's memories are slow to return because the half of him that Roxas is still lacking. I must convert Roxas into data and return him to Sora. As a member of Organization XIII, it was exceedingly difficult to bring Roxas in. Having lost to Roxas once, Riku laid everything on the line and used the power of darkness in their second battle, only just managing to bring Roxas back with him. But Organization XIII grows ever nearer. Here, Twilight Town, is where Roxas was reborn as a Nobody. This is where Roxas first encountered Organization XIII and joined its ranks. They are bound to search this place thoroughly. First I shall convert all of Twilight Town into data and construct a "world duplicate" in Sora's memories. I shall place Roxas within that world to live out his days and regain those memories. There is little time. The Organization's schemes must be making steady progress as well. Namine's meddlesome antics with Roxas annoyed DiZ, but he handled them accordingly. A rift in his choice to continue on with his vengeance was the reveal of the "true" Riku under his hood. That boy never ceased to amaze him as he observed the new visage adorning his body. He accepted the darkness into his heart, ignoring the (physical) consequences that could come forth, in order to defeat the blonde non-being it had seemed. All for the sake of awakening his friend from a sleep of recollection. The anguish in DiZ's heart was growing increasingly hard to conceal. After Sora's awakening, everything DiZ had planned and hoped fell to the single heart of a young hero. It was clear now that the heart was something he would never fully understand. Taking note of Xemnas' real plan, which was to take hold of Kingdom Hearts with the unwitting help of Sora and his companions and extract its power to become a god, DiZ hastily began constructing a machine to encode Xemnas' Kingdom Hearts into data, rendering it harmless to everyone. Once the encoder was complete, DiZ brought it along to the Organization's home-base of operations, The Castle That Never Was. Grasping onto the machine firmly, DiZ ventured up into the odious manor with thoughts of atonement buzzing in his mind. It was time to make amends for being the cause of the chaos wrought on the worlds. However, a group of Heartless and Nobodies thought otherwise and emerged in front of him, ready to attack. The King arrived at the nick of time to save DiZ once again. (First was his heart and now for his own being) Seeing no point in maintaining a useless facade and the need to correctly face his long-time friend, the DiZ persona faded away into oblivion to make way for Ansem the Wise. As expected, his friend questioned why he did not seek help when things took a turn for the worse. Ansem knew the King would not reject his plea for assistance, but this was something he had to essay in solitude. Xemnas was the Nobody of his foremost apprentice, Xehanort, therefore it was his responsibility to regulate Xemnas' crimes. Sora did his part in destroying Xehanort's Heartless, now it was Ansem's turn to eliminate the last threat to harmony. Settling in a favorable spot, Ansem activated his machine and began encoding Xemnas' Kingdom Hearts. While doing so, he lifted the agony in his heart caused by his past foolish actions by conversing with his old friend, the King. Their conversation was cut short by the overloading of the machine and the arrival of Sora and co. Ansem formally entrusted the hero to the task of setting things right and apologised to the dormant Roxas inside Sora for the trouble he had caused him, though he was not sure if the boy could hear him or not. The machine rumbled angrily in his grasp. It was finally time to make the amends his heart longed for. His friend the King objected, which was reasonable, but Ansem knew this was the only way to correct his prior blunders. His redemption came to a brief halt by the appearance of Xemnas. After a spew of bitter accusations and realizations from both parties, Ansem gave his last words to Riku and the King. He severely hoped that Riku would be able to return to his normal physiognomy and prayed his old time friend would forgive him. With a final farewell, the machine exploded. Tomorrow Sora awakens. My long and drawn-out revenge is nearing its end. Xehanort, who took everything away from me. Though as a Heartless he is no more, as the leader of Organization XIII his ambition once again is to capture Kingdom Hearts, the most colossal heart of all. His Heartless had attempted to draw out the great darkness of Kingdom Hearts, created from the hearts of all worlds. His Nobody, however, is now almost finished gathering human hearts to be assimilated into Kingdom Hearts as well. The fool! Only one mystery remains. How did Xehanort manage to open the door that appeared in the basement of my castle...? No...any theory posited now, when everything is nearing completion, would be meaningless. Roxas, Ansem, Namine... They defy all logic, yet there they are: singular exceptions to the rule. The theories proposed by me and by Organization XIII have been blown to pieces by a handful of strong-hearted individuals. Sora, Kairi, Riku. Ah, yes—Riku. Though his heart has its weaknesses, making it prone to darkness, he found support in the hope he discovered beyond suffering. This hope allowed him to stand his ground and turn the darkness in his heart from an enemy into his greatest weapon. When all this is over, it is my fervent hope that he will be able to return with Sora to his island. If I can, I should like to return to Radiant Garden, to look once more upon the beautiful water, the lovely flowers, and the hopeful smiles of the people. Dear King, my friend! I believe that, at some point in time, you will come across these, my truthful accounts. How I wish I could have chatted with you again. I was a fool, obsessed with revenge. Forgive me. The explosion did not take Ansem's life, but instead transferred him back to the realm of nothingness or better known as the Realm of Darkness. Ansem, attired in the Black Coat, trekked across the empty plains of the realm for about a year (or so he guessed) until he came upon a black shore illuminated by the distant moon. Along that journey, memories of his past slipped away into the nothingness that surrounded him. The arrival of a young woman with soothing cerulean hued hair startled Ansem. It was rare for him to be blessed with the appearance of a guest. The two exchanged scraps of what past recollections they could remember. Her name was Aqua and she fell into this pit of nothingness some time ago and had been wandering ever since. She wished to return to her original world in order to fulfill a promise to her friend. It was funny. Though his memory was dissipating, her words reminded him of a young boy who risked everything to save the worlds and his friends. She then proceeded to inquire about the state of the worlds. He told her that darkness loomed over them, but the Keyblade chose this boy to destroy that darkness. Apparently thrilled with the news, she asked if they by any chance were called "Terra" or "Ven", but Ansem shook his head. He had never heard of them before. He told her that he had troubled the boy and his friends for the sake of senseless vengeance. He had felt that he alone would have to set things right, so was that why he had acted so foolishly? Or was it the instinct of a scholar that egged him on? Regardless of what it was, Ansem continued on to point out that he had placed his research data into the boy in hopes that the young hero would put good use to them. A boy that intertwined so many hearts would surely save all the people Ansem had maltreated. Him and even her. "Who is that boy?" "His name...is...Sora..." The reversal of events caused by the will of Kingdom Hearts sent Ansem to the world of where inhabitants arrived when their world fell to the power of darkness: Traverse Town. Unsure of why he was brought to the world fixated between light and dark and why his memories had fully returned, Ansem ventured the town's streets in search of answers. |

Personality: Much of my life has been dedicated to the pursuit of knowledge. That knowledge has guarded this world well. Not a soul doubts that. I am blessed with people's smiles and respect. But though I am called a sage, there are things I do not understand. I believe darkness sleeps in every heart, no matter how pure. Given the chance, the smallest drop can spread and swallow the heart. I have witnessed it many times. Darkness...Darkness of the heart. How is it born? How does it come to affect us so? As ruler of this world, I must find the answers. I must find them before the world is lost to those taken by the darkness. An analytical scientist. A highly observant individual. A curious professor. Being a scholar at heart, Ansem the Wise seeks knowledge, but is also in possession of a vast understanding of various facets as well. Ansem was once a kind hearted sage of Radiant Garden, who looked out for the well being of everyone in his kingdom and even to strangers. He shared and cherished many friendships in his time as king and although he was compassionate, Ansem was capable of being stern when the situation called for it. This once benevolent man fell into a deep hatred when his beloved apprentices banished him to the Realm of Darkness. Vengeance clouded his heart, but his benign nature surfaced into the ever present need of protecting the worlds and later on, correcting his actions that distressed others. Now on a path of rectification, Ansem's servitude to the worlds and the people he wronged continues on. RP Sample: Ansem gently took in hand Ienzo's smaller palm and meandered out of his castle's walls, informing his brick housed guards their aimed destination: an ice cream vendor. He wanted to get better acquainted with the quiet lad and there was no better way than to snack on the unique taste of his kingdom's renowned Sea Salt Ice Cream. Or so Braig had told the blonde haired sage. Smiling down at the reserved slate haired boy, Ansem ambled through the streets of Radiant Garden in search of a vendor. The passing scenery of the unmatched beauty of the City of Light provided Ansem the chance to dwell on the small boy's predicament. The supposed-to-be innocent but instead mature eyes of the silent Ienzo remained forward as they trekked along the exquisite pavement of the town's tiled floor. Ansem heard the tragic fate of the boy's parents from Even and he knew immediately that he would tend to the boy as if he were his own. The duo finally spotted an ice cream vendor in the city's Marketplace and trailed over to it in a reasonable pace for the young boy. The merchant brightened at the sight of his altruistic sage-king and grinned sweetly at the young boy beside him. "Greetings, my King! Tell me, what have I done to be awarded your presence?" The merchant laughed heartedly, before crouching down to the level of Ienzo. "And who is this young lad, if I may ask?" "His name is Ienzo, my good man. His parents have passed unfortunately, but he is now in my care." Ansem informed the merchant as he arose. "I ask you, kind vendor, would you spare us two bars of Sea-Salt Ice Cream?" "Certainly, my King!" The merchant beamed and rummaged through his collection of frozen desserts until he brought out the two desired bars of sea-green hued ice cream. He reached over and handed the two their respective bars. The merchant, however, stopped Ansem from reaching into his lab coat's pocket to grasp the required munny with his voice. "Please, it's on the house!" Ansem blinked. Ienzo licked. "Rubbish. I thank you for your kindness, but do not exempt me from paying what is mandatory. I am of no exception, my kind friend." Delivering over the munny, Ansem took Ienzo's hand and reverted back to his manor. The two sparked gossip of adoration from the townspeople as they made their way back to the castle's grounds. The two enjoyed their bars of dairy products in silence as they cruised down the halls of the castle. The halting of Ienzo, though, stopped their smooth sailing and in turn focused their attention on Braig and Xehanort walking side by side opposite of them. Ansem smiled softly. He was glad to see Xehanort in the company of his fellow colleagues. Though Ansem was oblivious to the real workings behind the gait of the sharpshooter and his newly appointed apprentice... |
