The adventure in Thebes.

A flash of green light would mark the arrival of Lucerna and Douken in a back alley of Thebes, a city near the Olympus Coliseum. Glancing around, Lucerna would make sure that no one saw their arrival and was freaking out. They were in the clear, so Lucerna would turn to Douken and make sure he was getting used to the teleportation fine, and wasn't dizzy like last time. Doll meanwhile was still draped in Lucerna's arm, pretending to be a ragdoll. Luckily its eyes were pure white, so no one could tell that at all times, she was looking everywhere to stay alert for dangers.

"You doing okay?" Lucerna would ask, referring to if Douken was dizzy or not.

From the ship's cockpit, the three (if Doll was included) were sent down onto a new foreign land called Olympus Coliseum, which by the sounds of it and what he read, was more of a past-time set world and full of combat. It was also ruled over a plethora of gods, in which he was on able to keep in mind a small handful of names. At least only one sounded close enough to the Four Fiends, even though some of the lore stated that what he was thinking about were sealed away.

"I'm alright" he said, holding his head. "I bet after, what, twenty more times, I will be used to it." A stupid joke and exaggeration, yes, but it still just meant he was getting used to it. "Now I know I said I wanted to go here, but what is here anyways?" A coliseum was obvious; It's in the name of the world.

Lucerna shrugged when Douken asked what there was to do here. Recalling a bit from when she had read the book, she said, "This is a land of Gods and heroes. Conflict and strife are common, as are the heroes who step up to defend the innocent. Magic and spirits roam this land, so we should have no trouble entertaining ourselves. In fact..."

Lucerna paused for a moment, reaching into the sleeve of her robe to pull out a small book, this one labeled "The Greeks and you!" by Yen Sid. Skimming through it quickly, she apparently found the page she was looking for. "Yes! Greek mythology is known for its list of Oracles, beings who are either Seers able to see the future or simply beings who can answer any question if a price is paid."

Lucerna would seem to light up, grinning wildly. "This could be my chance to find my way home!" Lucerna was obviously getting very excited but her joy would be cut short by the sound of a scream coming from nearby. Stiffening up, Lucerna's eyes would narrow as she turned in the direction the sound came from, trying to focus and figure out what was going on. The first scream, the high-pitched yell of a woman being attacked, was quickly joined by the yells of a larger crowd. A din of noise became apparent, whatever was happening was causing a panic. Glancing at Douken, Lucerna would not say anything as she quickly headed down the alley towards the main street. She was going to find out what was happening and help if she could. Even the loud roar of something was obviously the cause didn't stop her.

Lucerna would quickly arrive on the scene, a bazaar where civilians were running away from the monsters. About a dozen harpies were flying around, swooping down to pick up humans with their talons and drop them from heights that wouldn't kill them, just maim them. A dozen Satyrs were running around as well, mainly chasing after women and dragging them away. The fearful shrieks and begging of the women implied that death was the least of their fears of the goat-men. And at the center of the chaos was the most dangerous monster of all, a Chimera. This was the first, and only moment of this chaos where Lucerna stopped in her tracks, but it wasn't out of fear. She was assessing the best course of action.

A Satyr spotted Lucerna, and was quick to dash at her, seeing nothing more than a woman frozen in fear. His day was ruined just as quickly when Lucerna, a look of hatred in her eyes, turned and kicked the demi-god creature in the groin, something it hadn't seen coming. Dropping to the ground in pain, Lucerna stood over the monster and held her ring up to its fearful face. A searing blast of Red Light came out of the ring, of such intensity that the Satyr was instantly disintegrated. The flash of light and defiance instantly brought the attention of the other monsters to Lucerna the first to defy them. After a dumbfounded pause of assessment, the creatures would all drop their prey and bum-rush at the Chosen Girl.

Assuming that Douken hadn't been a coward and that he'd followed Lucerna, she spoke over her shoulder at him without looking back.

"We only need one of them left alive to tell us what they were doing here. Kill the rest."

With that, Lucerna would seem to chuck Doll at the enemies, the shadowy rag-doll would fly right into the face of one of the Satyrs, knocking it down from surprise before the Spiritshadow began to grow, its tendrils quickly strangling the creature before it could understand that this wasn't a doll, but a creature far more dangerous than a Satyr.

With a punch motion, Lucerna would then project a large blast of Orange Light, this one seeming to contain pure concussive force rather than heat, which would knock the attacking monsters down and leave them vulnerable. Lucerna would follow this up by holding her hand at her side, where three Yellow Lances took shape. With a thrusting motion, the lances would leap forward to skewer a couple Harpies mid-flight, causing them to fall straight down from the pain. Next Lucerna would shape some Blue Light into a Shield and Sword, and glance over at Douken to see what he was doing.

With all of the enemies charging at them, Douken pushed up his glasses, his eyes quickly becoming hidden from the glare of the lenses."Overgrown goblins, human birds, and a two-headed chimera..." With the glare fading a new look was into Douken's eyes; one with so much more fury than before. "You got to be kidding me."

With a sudden dash, he held out the Tiger handsign before a quick flashing glow surrounded him. Jumping up, another Douken was there running before performing a roll, having the real Douken land on the Copy's (.5 MP) feet. Powering up and jumping off, Douken was launched into the air, making him eye-level with the harpies. Well, higher than one, really, but that was so he could just land on it. "There is no need for research here!" he declared as he drew both Kagenui's before slicing off the winged arms of the mount before quickly leaping off to the next one.

With the grounded copy rolling back to his feet, the enemy was at an extremely close distance, so by drawing its pair, he threw them both out, striking one satyr in the arm and the other into the chimera's lion eye. it was quickly followed up by that satyr's arm going through his chest, causing the Copy and gear to poof into smoke, leaving the demi-god in a confused state.

With the real one in the air, he moved himself through, performing hit and runs on the harpies, one of them getting forced to the earth by a ball of black energy known as Gravity Magic (1.5 MP). With no one else in a striking range, he moved his body to allow it to fall intothe direction of the blinded chimera, telling it, "Down, cat!" Before dropping his foot into the cat's head.

Lucerna observed Douken's fighting with a raised eyebrow, amused at his clone and dagger tricks. He was quick to take out a couple harpies and satyrs, though his attempts at hurting the still passive Chimera by throwing a dagger at its eye was futile. The great beast's snake tail quickly lashed out, batting the knife aside and hissing at Douken. When the boy approached, he obviously hadn't thought very far ahead. Even if he had blinded the lion's eye, the snake could still see. The lion body didn't react at all when Douken made a disparaging command at the monster. The snake head alone acted, by gazing at the falling Douken and casting Petrify with its eyes. The curse would very likely paralyze Douken if it didn't outright turn him to stone. Only then would the lion act, swinging its massive paw to bat at Douken.

Seeing this from off to the side, Lucerna acted to save her companion. Quickly holding up her ring, massive amounts of Light would shine out of the Sunstone, all directed at Doll who'd finished violating its Satyr. Suddenly Doll would grow large, like a giant. Its tendrils would quickly reach, plucking Douken out of the air and roughly tossing him over to Lucerna for safety while Doll would proceed to attack, quickly reaching with its many tentacles and grabbing all the Harpies and most of the Satyrs, chucking them into its mouth. Doll would seem to swallow them all whole. As a shadow, the creatures it ate could be seen in Dolls stomach as a darker silhouette against Doll's purple-black skin. They were writhing in pain and agony.

The Chimera, acknowledging the enlarged Doll as a threat, would use both Petrify and Fire Breath on Doll, trying to stop and burn the shadow. But being made of shadow, Doll had no real physical form to petrify, and no flesh to burn (aside from the creatures in her stomach). The attacks were useless against Doll, who proceeded to raise a giant shadowy fist, and slam it on top of the monster, knocking it out.

At the sight of their kin being eaten and the Chimera defeated, the remaining couple of Satyrs started to run away. Cutting off the Light sustaining Doll (causing her to shrink back to normal and the monsters to be ejected), Lucerna would quickly lash out at the retreating monsters, with Green Whips reaching far to grab them and rip them apart. Soon, all that would be left was the unconscious Chimera. Lucerna was quick to form ropes of Hard Light to bind the monster and render it immobile. The snake was forced to wear a hood while the lion was muzzled.

Finally Lucerna would turn to check on Douken, "Are you alright?"

Laying still on the floor, all Douken could really do was watch the doll engulf and annihilate anything it saw as a threat along with taking every blow thrown at it, not being phased at all. Even during all that, the doll was able to chuck him back over to Lucerna, who after everything asked if he was alright. "Oh, I'm fine," he said, stiffly and sarcastically, "Just completely paralyzed and thrown around like a rag doll... You know, having no Ribbon at all..." Whoever would find such a powerful accessory he would praise and wonder about its simpleness. "Now then... about me being paralyzed...."

Whether he got cured or she had him wait for it to fade, he sat himself back up, rubbing the back of his head. "There are times where I wish I could control my Copies. I mean, yeah sure they do whatever the hell I tell them to do, but how they do things is up to them..."

((most people RP that they're mentally connected to their Copies, meaning they directly control their actions without having to say anything.))

Lucerna smiled at Douken, figuring that if he was able to make wise-cracks, he would be fine. Holding up her ring, Lucerna would shine a gentle Green Glow of Healing, which would quickly ease the petrification. A small look of confusion would cross her face for a moment though at something he said. Reaching behind her head she'd loosen her ponytail and hold up a ribbon and questioningly ask, "How would a ribbon help?"

Once Douken was loosened up and he was able to move, Lucerna would shrug in response to his complaint. She didn't use magic, not the kind that was common among the Worlds. She could only mentally control the power of Sunstones to project Light Constructs. She couldn't offer any advice about Magic spells. So instead she turned and strode over to the bound Chimera which was beginning to stir. Giving Doll a mental command and strengthening her with Light. The Spiritshadow quickly leaped onto the back of the Chimera's neck and stretched out its tendrils to further bind and constrict the monster, pinching it to fully wake it up. When the lion's eyes blinked and focused on Lucerna, the beast remained calm, staring straight into the Chosen's eyes.

"So you're the brains of this operation. Tell me, right now. Who, and why?"

Lucerna spoke with an edge in her voice. She wasn't in the mood for joking around, and the Chimera knew it. The monster slowly looked over at the pile of half-digested monsters, seeming to ponder its fate. Slowly it would look back at Lucerna, and speaking through the muzzle, it would ask one question.

"Will you let me live?"

"No. The only thing telling me gets you is a quick, painless death."

Nodding, the Chimera would seem to accept his fate.

"My Mistress is Apate, the Goddess of Deceit. She has a plan to gain respect and power for herself and her couterpart, Dolos. It is petty, but she promised our tribes power as well. I knew she was lying, as is her nature, but still I came for the hunt. But the hunter has become the prey. And as we are but cogs in her plans, we know nothing of the whole of her plan."

"Alright, that makes sense. But what were you doing here? Why were you attacking civilians?"

"As I said, we know not of the whole. We were told to make a distraction. Have fun."

"It may just be me, but it didn't look like you were having fun back there."

"The mortals were the Harpies prey. The women for the Satyrs. My prey was to be the Heroes that came to defend those insects."

"Ah, final question. Where can I find Apate?"

"At the edge of the city, to the south, is a small forest. In the middle is a clearing with a temple hidden there. That is the Temple of Apate and Dolos, of Deceit and Deception. But as you might suspect, that is also a lie. The temple is a deception, it is empty, a mere cover for the real Temple far underground. That is where Apate and Dolos plot from, and where you must go. Now please. Do not deny me an honorable death any longer."

Nodding, Lucerna would step back, looking at Doll briefly. The Spiritshadow would quickly plunge a sharp tendril into the base of the Lion's neck, as well as whip a tendril to cut off the snake's head. The Chimera would go limp, killed instantly. The Light bindings would fade and Doll would unwrap itself, leaping through the air onto Lucerna's shoulder, the blood on its arm seeming to just lose its grip and fall into a splotch on the ground. Doll had apparently made itself wispier than normal so the blood would fall off and Lucerna wouldn't get any blood on her.

All matters taken care off, Lucerna would stride back over to Douken, smiling as she asked, "Any questions?"

((That's most people. Mine is more fun.))

Ruthless. Purely ruthless. Sure, their enemy was smart enough to talk human (Which to Douken was a miracle, and he has seen ogres cast magic), but the threat level her and Doll gave off made it spill the beans so easily. In the end, it was not so afraid to talk about Apate and Dolos. In the end, they were being forced underground to take on two gods. Man, if I live though this, then I should be able to kill Lich with my bare hands... Douken thought as he pinched the temple of his nose with his glasses drooping down.

When she asked he had questions, he replied, "No. Just remind me to never get on your bad side. I think Doll would have too much fun killing me if it had the chance." With the glare it gave him on the sip when she was changing, it would be no surprise. Thik we should rest up and check on citizens, or should we be on our way?"

After helping recuperate the victims (if they took this route), Douken would explain the importance of the Ribbon from his world and its strange, powerful effect, using a phase "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but this protects me from everything else," as a strange guideline.

"But I don't have a bad side, right?" Lucerna grinned maliciously, as if to confirm Douken's fear of ever getting on her bad side. If he was wise he'd go along with whatever she said. "Besides, Doll's mistrust of you is simply because you're a boy. Doll's of the opinion that all men are pigs that want to get in my pants."

Lucerna would then turn and help Douken with the civilians, using her Sunstone to heal minor injuries and do some minor repair. Once they were all taken care of, and before the authorities arrived to ask questions, Lucerna would lead them quickly through the city, soon arriving at the southern gate. A small distance away from the city was the forest the Chimera had mentioned All the nearby roads distinctly went around the woods rather than through it, and its dark vibe made it apparent that the locals were likely superstitious about it. As they walked, Lucerna felt like giving a small explanation herself after Douken was done telling her what a Ribbon was.

"Just so you know, the Gods we're going to fight aren't exactly high in the Pantheon. Different Gods have different levels of power based on different factors. For example, the primary three Gods of the Sky, Sea, and Land, being Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades respectively, are the most powerful Gods. Then their are the Twelves Olympians, the first Twelve Gods who existed and rule Olympus. There there are all the Primordial Deities, the various Gods that make up the common elements in life. Finally, there are the Personifications, Gods who merely represent concepts. Dolos and Apate are of the last type, holding very little physical power. They are Gods only from a technical standpoint, being that they are immortal and indestructible. Since they don't have the power to control the elements or summon hordes of monsters, they should be easy enough to defeat."

"Immortal and indestructible... yeah, easy to beat," Douken answered sarcastically, considering to him, winning against an enemy meant beating them to a bloody pulp. Most cases they wouldn't surrender until they were just plain dead. So, by saying beating up immortals was easy... that seemed like a little over the top.

As they walked and talked, Douken pulled out the kunai from his waist and began tossing it in the air, making it flip a couple times before catching it again in hand by the handle. Sometimes, the extra half flip popped up, having him grab the blade edge, but having been used to his weapon, he knew where not to touch and flipped it back to normal. After another short while later, the soon reached the ruined temple. "Well, looks like we found where its supposed to be," he said, knowing that the real thing was underground.

Lucerna chuckled at Douken's sarcasm. She understood his concern, but knew that it wasn't as big a deal as the boy was thinking. "What I meant was, these Personification Gods are little more than immortal. Unlike the other Gods, they don't have massive powers like weather manipulation and stuff. Aside from being immortal, they are no stronger than a human being. Because of their concept though, deception, they may have some illusory powers."

Lucerna watched Douken's kunai flip with a little interest. She was mostly interested in its odd shape. Reaching into her sleeve, she touched out her own dagger. It was of a simple design, and hid a Sunstone in its pommel. After checking that it was still in its proper sheath, Lucerna continued until they arrived at the temple. She nodded at Douken's words that they'd found the place. She would quickly stride into the large doorway.

Once inside, they would see the ruins of an abandoned Temple, with two Satyrs lounging around the altar, drunk off their asses. Obviously they were supposed to be guards, but didn't take their job seriously. A flash of yellow and a lance leaped across the temple, skewering one of them in the head and pinning him to the wall. The other drunkenly turned to the intruders, not comprehending what was happening. Lucerna walked right past him towards a doorway in the back, leaving the Satyr for Douken to take care of.

Through the doorway in the back of the temple, Lucerna would find a stairway heading down, just like the Chimera had described. With a shrug, Lucerna would quickly descend. The light from the temple above would quickly disappear in the spiral staircase, as there were no torches lighting it. With a gentle touch, Lucerna would raise the level of light shining from her amulet to give her and Douken plenty of Light with which to see. After feeling like they'd went down two or three miles, the stairs would finally come to an end and a short hallway would lead them to a large cavern. Within the cavern were hundreds of Satyrs on the ground and Harpies on the walls, all staring at the stage in the back. Dimming her Sunstone, Lucerna and Douken were effectively hidden because of the limited lighting in the cavern, and because no one was looking in their direction.

On the stage in the far back, were two human looking people whose identity quickly became apparent.

"My precious Harpies!" Said the woman, to the screeching cheers of her subjects.

"My loyal Satyrs!" Said the man, to the howling hoots of his.

"Our time is at hand! Too long have me and my brother been ignored by the Gods, not allowed our proper place on Olympus."

"And too long have you and your kind been treated as monsters and been forbidden from enjoying life's pleasures."

"As we speak groups of your kind are acting all over Greece to distract the Gods and Heroes so that we can march on Olympus and take over the ultimate kindgom!"

Turning to Douken, Lucerna would chuckle. "The only way I imagine this army actually defeating Zeus is if he laughs himself to death at the sight of it."

"And with your weapons specially enchanted and poisoned, you will be able to strip those Gods of their immortality and destroy them!"

"Oh...crap." Nervously laughing, Lucerna would ask Douken, "Any ideas?"

As he juggled his dagger, after seeing the satyr guards drunk off their asses, he muttered the word, "Blink." In an instant, his body began to flicker, catching the kunai as he kept on walking forward. However, the flicker seemed to of kept up the motion, showing he performed an Alter spell (2 MP). And as the illusion kept up the juggle, Douken tossed the heavy kunai. Sure, throwing it was troublesome, but hitting a drunk Satyr between the eyes was easy. Walking back to the dead Satyr, he made sure of his death by pulling it up his skull, cutting the brain in half before wiping it off his flesh to clean the blade.

Following her down into the inner depths of the corridor, they were almost greeted by an army of Satyrs and Harpies, filling the room as the two lesser gods preached about their uprising and special enchantments. When Lucerna asked if there was something that could be done. "Dispelga," he answered. "A high powered spell that can remove the bonus effects of enchantments on an area of opponents. However, I trained more like a Ninja, not a White Mage, so I don't even know Dispel."

Looking at the scene, he tried to figure what could be done. Even now, trying to charge in with max power spells would be suicide. "But what about those goblin's lust for women?" he asked, pointing at the Satyrs then the Harpies. "If we can cause a major commotion and internal war between the two forces, it would be easier for us to get to Apate and Dolos."

Lucerna shook her head when Douken mentioned using a spell to get rid of the enchantments. She couldn't use normal magic either, and besides, that wasn't what she was referring to. She needed an idea to immediately take out the armies rather than weakening them for the Gods to deal with. Douken then further suggested the idea of turning the two armies against each other by using the Satyrs' lust. After staring at the closest Satyr for a moment, Lucerna again shook her head. "We may be able to turn these guys against each other, but I'm not sure about the Satyrs going for the Harpies. Satyrs are known for their almost insatiable lusts, so the fact that so many Satyrs and Harpies being in the same room without a rape-fest starting means that the Satyrs are likely not interested in bird bodies. Most of the Demi-God creatures tend to be unable to mate with each other for various reasons, but most Demi-Gods are still capable of mating with Humans. I think this has to do with the fact that most of these races were born when a God mated with a human or something, giving them genetic compatibility with Humans."

Lucerna snorted with disgust for a moment as a thought came to her. "Humans are apparently the most sexually receptive race..."

Lucerna then started looking around again, taking interest in the cavern itself. They seemed to be in a roughly dug cavern, with jagged rocks sticking out of the ceiling, which seemed to make nice roosts for the Harpies. An idea started to form in Lucerna's mind. Gently she reached up and nudged Doll while sending her a mental command. Doll then quickly slid off Lucerna's shoulder and became flat against the ground, literally a moving shadow. Doll then moved up the wall, keeping to the shadows to remain hidden as it quickly reached the roof. It extended its limbs along the different shadows lining the ceiling, until it was wrapped around several of the larger spikes of rock. With a quick, hard tug, the different spikes suddenly broke and started to fall, crashing down on the Satyrs below while Harpies that were attached to those rocks fell as well, some righting themselves and flying back up, others crashing and breaking bones. Smirking, Lucerna had Doll keep breaking off the rocks, while she nudged Douken to get him to add his own confusion to the chaos.

Well, the idea was worth it... even if it would be a rather, well, disturbing orgy between demi-gods. hell, for all they knew, if Apate and Dolos weren't there, they would of been going at it anyways. No, there had to be another way for them to mess with their heads. Well, Lucerna did so by messing with their minds with a barrage of falling rocks. Could be the benefit of having a controlled shadow like Doll to do some damage.

Now, being more combat focused, he preferred to get up front. However, as seen earlier, he can find ways around that. One way was to bring them to him. "I may have used up half of my magical abilities, but I think I got another spell for such a case." Pointing at the midst of the chaos of falling rocks, he muttered, "Gather." Within an instant, a sphere appeared with two smaller ones spinning around, creating a magnetic force to gather up the monsters within the room (3 MP). Hopefully, Doll could see this gathering and focus the rocks there. "They need to get closer to each other to get interested, that's all."

It didn't help at that time a harpie was thrown chest-first into a satyr's face.

Lucerna sighed when Douken cast a spell, causing a fair portion of the monsters to cluster under the falling rocks. Lucerna had been trying to make the incident look like a natural disaster, like some earthquake had suddenly hit, but now it was painfully obvious to these guys that they...

"We're under attack!" Dolos yelled out, pointing across the cavern at the exit where Lucerna and Douken were hiding.

"Dammit!" Lucerna yelled, standing up and aiming with her ring and firing off several Yellow Lances to skewer the closest enemies while Doll knocked the last couple rocks loose to crush the monsters gathered by Douken's spell. She then dropped from the roof, landing on the head of a nearby Harpy and forcing it to fly erratically, trying to steer it towards the Gods.

"Slaughter them!" Apate screeched, waving her hand and causing a shimmer to sweep through her army. Suddenly the Satyrs and Harpies would become visually indistinct, seeming to be a blur of movement. It was an illusion spell that made them harder to hit because you couldn't tell where one monster ended and another began. Of course, since they were all now charging at Lucerna and Douken, it should have been as simple as shooting into the middle of the blob's mass and hitting as many of them as possible.

However, Lucerna knew that they wouldn't be able to kill them all before they crossed the distance and attacked her and Douken. So, dropping to her knees and focusing on her ring, she told Douken to "Hold them off a minute!" While she gathered Light from her ring. All she needed was about thirty seconds to gather the light before she'd thrust her ring forward and create a thick Shield of Light, creating a partial dome around where Lucerna and Douken were standing. It had about a 20 foot radius extending from the door behind them and had several holes spaced evenly along the wall at head level. Rushing to a nearby hole, Lucerna would then gather a large about of indigo light from her ring, punching it out of the hole and letting loose an Indigo Wave of Power. It would look like an avalanche of purplish light that barreled over the monsters and started bouncing around the room. It smashed and pretty much thoroughly wiped out the Satyrs, but the Harpies could simply fly over it and were trying to get into the shield dome. Though extremely tired from the back to back high level Sunstone constructs, Lucerna managed to lean against the wall and use her ring to sustain the shield, reinforcing it whenever the indigo wave came back to smash against it.

Doll was still having fun riding a poor Harpy in circles, making it smash against the wall every now and then.
