I think we had something like this on the other forum so I thought I would bring it over here.

Here you can make some recommendations on any good shows or movies that you've seen and why you like them so you can encourage others to watch them as well.

Well Doctor Who and Torchwood are amazing shows.

I've been obsessively finding things that David Tennant was in and watching them so pretty much anything he's been in I'd recommend because he's a fantabulous actor!

Star's series Camelot is really good (I'm behind on it right now but I promise it's good! lol

And HBO's Game of Thrones is an awesome show, got some ick-subjects like incest but still really good!

Annnd I'll recommend more stuff later! Woo...

I would definitely like to recommend Robin Hood. i watch all three seasons as it came out, and absolutely fell in love with it. Which wasn't too hard as Robin Hood has always been my favorite story. Now, if you are looking for accuracy, don't watch it. But the new take on the story is really good, so good that I, the person always complaining about historical or whatever accuracy, looked past all that and feel in love. (Recently a friend of mine discovered it, so I've been re-watching it all)

True Blood. What more is there to say.

Criminal Minds is amazing.

Adventure Time. It's a new cartoon on Cartoon Network. Although the initial audience aim is children, there are witty and slightly disturbing comments that only an older crowd would enjoy. (i.e. Balloons on Adventure Time: Yay! To the mesosphere! (Finally we can die!))

Oh my god, True Blood is amazing! I'm seriously hooked on it; have been since last summer. I can't wait for the new season!

And Maggie, I've been doing the same exact thing, but with Gary Oldman and, most recently, Bradley Cooper. A few days or so ago, I watched Wet Hot American Summer (I swear, there are SOOO many actors and actresses in that movie that are fairly big now, like Bradley Cooper, Amy Poehler, Michael Ian Black, Paul Rudd, Chris Meloni, etc.). It was pretty horrible, but it was funny in the "I can't believe this is happening" kind of way. Despite what the title may lead you to think, there's only one sex scene in the whole movie and its between Bradley Cooper and Michael Ian Black. Hahaha.

I'd recommend Firefly and its movie sequel Serenity. They're both really good.

Bones is also a really great show. I love it so much, even though the earlier seasons are better.

Fringe is pretty awesome, if you're into the sci-fi alternate universe type thing.

And hmm, as far as movies go, I have a few:

Anything written by John Hughes (The Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles, etc.)

The Boondock Saints.

Labyrinth, though I'm sure most of you have already seen it.

ANYTHING Gary Oldman has been in, I'd probably recommend. The man is a genius. I'm trying to find a movie in which he doesn't die/fake his own death. As of yet, I have been unsuccessful.

I Love You, Man. (Its one of the best comedies I've ever seen)

Braveheart. The best thing Mel Gibson ever did.

In the Mouth of Madness. Its a 1990's horror movie, so the special effects aren't spectacular, but its got a really good plot. Its about this man who is hired by a publishing company to find a missing writer named Sutter Cane because they're worried about him and need him back. This guy goes to find him and he ends up in this town that's streets are filled with the nightmarish scenes from Cane's novels. Its creepy without being obnoxious.

If I think of any more, I'll add them :)

Very true! Firefly is amazing! I just named my new kitten (had her for a couple weeks now...) River after the character in Firefly! I think it fits her perfectly too, even though people who haven't seen the show/movie don't get it...she's a curious/mischievous little kitten who's also so innocent and adorable looking but a bit unpredictable...I think that fits the badass that is River pretty well lol. But uh back to the topic...

Of course I recommend Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, and Supernatural to anyone who hasn't already seen the series.

And the IT Crowd, the Mighty Boosh, and Garth Marenghi's Dark Place to people into British comedy :D

There is one movie that I would like to strongly advise everyone NOT to see. The Human Centipede. You might have seen it on Netflix, and been curious, but don't do it. Its fucking nasty. Not because its gory or anything, but the concept is just gag-worthy and then when you see it and they explain it, it's just... eugh. Disgusting. You can't un-see that shit. It will stay with you for a while after you watch it.

lol I'm still going to see that eventually. I have know about it before it came out, back when it was first being screened in October 2009 at the LA Screamfest film festival...I wanted to see it then but didn't get to and now it's a pretty big thing and I STILL haven't seen it >.< I've heard good things about it though as far as horror movies go...so I'll have to give it a chance...eventually.

Hahaha, good luck. Most of it isn't as bad as I made it sound, but there are a few parts that are just really, really gross. I'm fine with blood; in fact, I prefer horror movies with some blood and gore. It was the whole sewing people to other people's assholes thing that got me. He literally shit in her mouth and she had no choice but to swallow it. So nasty.
