Welcome to the Tokai Region, a small portion of land located South West of the Jhoto Region. The land is home to a wide variety of Pokemon that seems to constantly be changing. Every day scientists discover more and more about this region. Trainers find new Pokemon. Coordinators stumble on brand new attacks. Breeders find more secrets about Pokemon breeding. Will you be on the many who find a mystery of Tokai? You have just decided to start your journey. Your dreams are laid out in front of you. Your supplies are packed. You have all you need to start your journey. But, where do you start? Which way to you go? What are the Laws of Nature here? Index: General Rules Starting Out Character Classes Switching Classes Traveling Battling Money Gyms and Contests Breeding Leveling Abilities Evolution Legendary Encounters Note: To find a section. Press Ctrl+F and type in the section title. For Money, you need to press Next three times, and for Leveling you need to press Next twice. Sorry about that. General Rules -Limited Swearing. (No more than two cuss words per post) -Always Be Respectful. -Listen To Mods and Admin. -Stay On Topic. (Don't post yourself buying potions from the PokeMart on a forum talking about wild Battles) -No Godmodding or Autoing. -Don't Bash The Site. (If you have a problem, put it in the Suggestions forum. And be nice about it, please) -No sexual posts. Yes, you can have a little kiss, or a romantic date. But no Sex. at all. This goes for Pokemon too. If you have to do it, you can say that you (or your Pokemon) went into a room (or whatever). We all know what you mean. For those of you who don't know what a Godmod or an Auto is, here's your definition: Godmod: Executing an act that is God-like and impossible for someone to actually do. Example: "Rattata used Hydro Cannon." "Zubat used Rock Climb." "Diglit used Fly" Autoing: Attacking, or executing an action that would directly effect other people, without giving the other's chance to respond. Example: "Houndoom opened his mouth, intense flames erupting from his throat, and he released his Fire Blast. The fiery storm engulfed the entire area and defeated the opponent's Swampert in one hit." One more thing... GodMode: Playing for another person. Using someone's character. This is a BIG no-no. The only time you can do this is if you have the other persons permission. As you can tell, I really don't like it when people do that, so this rule will be enforced very strictly. If either me or a mod catches someone Godmodding or Autoing, that person will given one, and only one, warning. If the person is found doing it again they will lose three of their Pokemon, all of their money, and will be watched strictly for the next month. If that person violates this rule yet again they will lose their account. I know, I know. That's really strict, well, I see people abusing this rule all the time and that makes it extremely unfair for the other people. But, I know all of you are good people and will follow this rule. Starting Out Beginners who have not yet received a Pokemon start out going to a Lab. There they will meet a professor who will greet them with a warm smile and their choice of a Pokemon. If you have chosen to see a professor, you'll also be rewarded with A Pokedex and Live Caster and 5 Pokeballs. But, if you have already gotten your faithful starter Pokemon, you may start out your journey without meeting a Professor. Granted, you'll only have a single Pokeball. Once you use it, you'll have to use your own money to buy more Pokeballs. You won't have a Pokedex or Live Caster. What if you've already gotten your Pokemon, but you still want a Dex and Caster? You can visit a Professor anytime to receive your Dex and Caster, but you will not receive the 5 Pokeball bonus. After you have made your Profile and have decided what sort of starter your going to get, you probably want to start up your PC. Your PC is where you put Pokemon that are not in your team. As you know, you can only have Six Pokemon on you at one time, so this is where you put the others. Note: If you put a Pokemon in the PC and you do not take it out of the PC for over four months your Pokemon will run away! (aka, the Pokemon will be deleted and you won't be able to regain it). So, please don't catch Pokemon you don't plan to raise. [You will post this in the PC's section. It's located just under Approved Profiles.] Finally. You're all set and ready to begin your journey. Everything is in it's place. No more filling out forms and setting up profiles. SIKE! You still have one more thing to do. Start up your Live Caster! If you decided to visit the Professor and you received a Live Caster, be sure to start it up! This is a simple form. All you have to do is Put your name, a picture, a short summary of who you are, your current team, and the remaining Pokemon in your PC. This thread will be used so that others have a quick way of seeing who you are and whatnot. Also, if you have met the other person and given them your number, they can talk to you in this thread. Note: All talking in this thread will be based on the rp. Nothing outside of rp should be discussed here. [You will post this in the Live Casters section. It's located just under the PC's.] Character Classes I'm sure you've asked yourself this question. Well, here you have five types of characters to choose from: Trainer, Breeder, Coordinator, Researcher/Explorer, or Ranger. Here's an overview of each: Trainer: You will set out to catch and raise every Pokemon. While doing so you'll take on Gym battles and earn badges. Once you've gotten your 8th badge, you will take on the Elite Four and the current champion. But, you will not be allowed to breed Pokemon or enter in any sort of contest. Breeder: Your goal is to catch every Pokemon and breed them. Breeders can sell eggs and Pokemon for a small profit, depending on the rarity of the Pokemon (prices must be reasonable). A Breeder must always have a baby Pokemon in their party because it's the cliche of every Breeder. You will not be able to battle Gyms and the Elite Four, and cannot enter in contests. Coordinator: You love to make Pokemon shine. You will not have to catch all of the Pokemon, but the ones you do catch will be only for contest purposes. You will enter in contests across the region earning ribbons. You cannot breed Pokemon or battle Gyms and the Elite Four. Researcher/Explorer: You want to see every Pokemon there is to see and learn all there is to know about them. As a young traveler, you will ALWAYS start your journey out in one of the two Research labs. From there, the respected Professor will tell you about how impressed she is and will send you on your way. You cannot challenge gyms, enter contests, or breed Pokemon. Ranger: For as long as you can remember, you've always wanted to help Pokemon. Then, one day, you receive a package in the mail saying that you have been officially been made a Pokemon Ranger. In the package you find your stylus (and if you want one of the generic starters a pokeball with the Pokemon of choice inside). Overjoyed, you and your Pokemon race across the nation looking to help Pokemon and people who are in need of your services. You cannot challenge gyms, enter contests, breed, or permanently catch Pokemon. All Pokemon you catch must be released back into the wild once you're done using them Switching Classes So, you want to switch character classes. You think you got what it takes to even prove yourself at your current rank? HA! A Jack Wagon like yourself couldn't even prove yourself at your current rank, maggot! Sorry. Just got done watching a War movie, and yeah... Anyways, so you're bored with your character class. huh? Well, switching classes isn't really that easy. First you have to do a little work with your current class, as seen below. In Order To Switch I must: (Trainer) I must have at least four(4) of the eight gym badges and have at least two Pokemon above level 35. (Breeder) I must have sold at least fifteen(15) eggs and been to at least four different locations. (Coordinator) I must have earned at least two(2) ribbons and maxed out at least one stat on one Pokemon. (Researcher) I must have seen at least fifty(50) Pokemon and spoken with both professors (Professor Maple in Souldridge, and Professor Pine in Autumn Port) So, that's all you need to do to switch classes. I don't think that's too bad. If you do then why don't you crawl on over to Mansey-pansey Land and find some self confidence for ya, ya Jack Wagon! Traveling Remember, you're not Flash. You cannot jump around the map free-willingly. You must take the time to walk from place to place. Unless, of course, you have caught a bird Pokemon that is bigger than you that can fly you to different towns. Keep in mind, you cannot ride a Swablu, Pidgey, or any other Pokemon that is smaller than you. The same rules apply to Surfing. Your Pokemon must be larger than you and strong enough to support you. Pokemon that you are using to Surf may not engage in battling, so keep that in mind. You cannot use the move Dive here. Battling There are two types of Pokemon battles. Trainer battles and Wild Battles. Trainer battles are when two Trainers pit their Pokemon against each other and fight to see who has the strongest Pokemon. Wild Battles can happen at anytime, anywhere, when you least expect it. A wild Pokemon will jump you. If the Pokemon is aggressive you will be forced to battle the wild Pokemon. Once you have defeated the Pokemon you may choose to catch the wild Pokemon and add it to your team, or you can leave the Pokemon and take the experience (See Leveling Up for more info) Sadly, you will not win every battle that you come across. What happens if you lose? When all of your Pokemon have lost the will to fight, you will be forced to go back to the last town you have visited. Upon going there, you will see a Pokemon Nurse and she will heal your Pokemon back to full health. When fighting another Trainer, both Trainers may choose to have a Wager match. in a Wager Match, both Trainers bet a set amount of money. Whoever wins collects all the money. Simple, right? Posting and Money Normally, we don't have a posting limit, but apparently it's becoming unfair to those who do have great posts. So, starting now we have a posting limit, but rewards come with it. When you post, you will have to type at least 100 words in your post. That's not very much, so I think everyone can pull it off. Now, here's were the good stuff comes in. For every 100 words you go over the limit, you gain 100 Money. pretty nice, eh? So, what're you waiting for? Post! Gyms and Contests Trainers will be challenging Gyms, while Coordinators will be challenging Contests. Each town has one Gym which is led by a Gym Leader. The Gym leader will specialize in a specific type of Pokemon and is the strongest Trainer in the town. Seeing as how Trainers start out in different towns, the Gym leader system is altered from the Game system. Normally, each Gym leader would have a set level for their team, but we have changed that to make this forum more fair. The Gym leader's level set will be determined by how many gym badges you have. 0 Badges- Level 7-11 1 Badge- Level 15-20 2 Badges- Level 23-27 3 Badges- Level 30-34 4 Badges- Level 37-40 5 Badges- Level 41-43 6 Badges- Level 44-47 7 Badges- Level 47-50 Note: The Rainbow Gym must be your last Gym battle. These are the rules for all the Coordinators. PART 1: Joining a Contest When you want to join a Contest PM a Admin or Mod. In the pm you put in what Contest Hall (What City/Town) and your character's name. He will announce that there will be a contest in the place you wanted it to be. People can PM the Admin or Mods if they want to join the contest as well. People have 5 days to join in. On day 6 the contest will begin. The total people that can join are 10. If there are not enough people to start a contest a Admin or Mod will play NPC's. Every Contest Hall has it's own rules. Note: You cannot just magically appear in the town you want. You do have to walk there. So, when you pick what town you want to go to, you might want to pick a town that's close to where you are. PART 2: Round 1 The Preformance A Admin or Mod will make a Topic to Rp on. You will be announced by Kelly Valentine. The presenter of all the contests. The judges will be: 1) Nurse Joy (played by a mod) 2) (Gym Leader of the town you are in.) (Played by a other mod) 3) Ashley, Gym Leader of Rainbow City. (Played by a other mod.) At the beginning you will be given a number witch says when it's your turn. When it's your turn you will be announced by Kelly. When she is done the round begins. Capsules: You can choose to you a Ball Capsule or not. If you choose to, you have a lot of options you can choose. We suggest using one that suits your Pokemon. Performance: In round 1 you use attacks to show off your Pokemon. Then all 3 judges give you points from 1 to 10. The 2 people with the lowest score are eliminated. (This must be at least two paragraphs.) Example of Performance: Spoiler: click to toggle PART 3: Round 2. The Battle The people that went through to the next round will have to battle against each other. The people who go against each other shall be totally random. If one player's Pokémon faints the battle ends immediately and the other player is the victor. Like in the anime you have a meter. But in this case you have 100 points. When both people that posted in the rp the Gym Leader, Nurse Joy and Ashley will say who lost points and how many. When the meter hits zero, the other player is the victor. They battle will take 3 pages (If a Pokemon didn't faint yet, or if someone didn't run out of points yet). The person with the most points left is the victor. The winner of a round will go to the next round. Eventually there will be a winner. PART 4: The Ribbon When a winner is chosen he/she will be awarded the city's Ribbon. He/she will also be granted some cash. The better you preformed overall the more you get. The highest you can get is $3000 Different Contest Halls Every Contest Hall has its own special hall. When you do something with whatever is around you, you get more points. Like it's a water field, if you do something with the water you get extra points. Contest Halls Breeding To Breed a Pokemon, you must first be a Breeder. Then, you must have two Pokemon that are compatible (If you do not know what Pokemon are compatible, Google is a very good thing to ask). You take your Breeding pair to the Breeding Shop forum and simply start a topic describing how your Pokemon sneak away from you and when you find them, they had an Egg. Note: Any Pokemon sex scenes will be deleted and may result in a short ban. This is a clean forum and we do not promote anything of that nature. Once you have your Egg, you may choose to sell it to a Trainer or Coordinator, or you can keep it for yourself and raise the baby Pokemon. Please keep in mind the Pokemon rules of breeding. (http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Pok%C3%A9mon_breeding) The Hatching system does not follow that System, though. To hatch an egg you must have complete at least TWO decent threads. Not Two posts, THREADS. Hatching an Egg doesn't happen in five minutes. Leveling The point of the Forum (as a general rule) is to raise Pokemon to reach their maximum potential. How do you do that, you may ask. Well, that, my dear Watson, is elementary! You do this by leveling them up! Now you're probably thinking: "How do I level up, Luna?" Well, there are two ways of doing this: Trainer/Wild Pokemon Battles: In a Trainer Battle, two trainers pit their Pokemon against each other and fight to see who has the strongest Pokemon. Trainer battles will always be harder than wild Pokemon battles, but there is a plus. Before a Trainer Battle, the two trainers can set up a wager match. In a wager match, each trainer bets a set amount of Money. Winner takes all. Note: If you win a gym battle, you gain 500 Money as a prize. Wild Pokemon battles are just what you'd think they are. Battling Wild Pokemon. Anytime you defeat a Wild Pokemon you are given the chance to Capture the Pokemon, or Defeat the Pokemon. If you choose to Capture the Pokemon, you will NOT gain any experience (EXP.) but you will gain the Pokemon. If you defeat the Pokemon you WILL gain EXP, but be forced to leave the Pokemon behind. Now, here's the system for leveling using Trainer/Wild Pokemon battles: Pokemon between the levels of 1 and 20 need ONE battle to level up. Pokemon between the levels of 21 and 50 need TWO battles to level up. Pokemon between the levels of 51 and 80 need THREE battles to level up. Pokemon between the levels of 81 and 99 need FOUR battles to level up. Simple. Here's the second way of leveling up. Solo-Training: If you've watched the Anime or read the Manga, then you'll notice that a lot of Ashe's training is outside of battling. Sometimes him and his Pokemon beat up innocent trees, other times him and his Pokemon swim through lakes, disturbing peaceful water-type's homes. Nonetheless, he gains EXP from that. So, here's what you have to do: If you want to do solo-training, you must use a Descriptive Paragraph to tell us about the sort of training you and your Pokemon did. Training can include, but is not limited to: Exercising (Jogging, swimming, hiking), Improving Skills (Focusing on a single move to better it's power), or Polishing Contest Techniques (Obviously for Coordinators only). Your Solo-Training so focus only on training with your Pokemon. Telling us what your Pokemon are thinking, or what color the trees are does not count as training and will not count towards your leveling if it has relevance to your training method. Relevance of your paragraph will be determined by your Mod, but may be overruled by an Admin. Do not question your Mod's decision and do not argue with the Admin. Anyways... The leveling you have done during Solo-Training does not count until your Mod approves the paragraph and confirms your levels. Pokemon between the levels of 1 and 20 need a post of at least 200 words to level up. Pokemon between the levels of 21 and 50 need a post of at least 400 words to level up. Pokemon between the levels of 51 and 80 need a post of at least 600 words to level up. Pokemon between the levels of 81 and 99 need a post of at least 800 words to level up. Stick to this, and your Pokemon will be leveling up in no time! Remember, we try to follow the games in this forum. As your Pokemon grown, they will learn new attacks which they will use in battle. Now, if it were a perfect world your Pokemon would remember everything they've learned, but sadly, this isn't a perfect world and Pokemon can only have Four attacks to use in battle. If your Pokemon learns a new attack and you would like to use that attack, you will have to have it forget another move if it already has four attacks. Example. Lucario grew to level 50. Lucario already knows Poison Jab, Aura Sphere, Reversal, and Brick Break. But, he wants to learn the new attack Dragon Pulse. In order for him to learn said move, you will have to choose which attack you don't want any more. In this case, we'll get rid of Reversal. Now Lucario knows the moves Poison Jab, Aura Sphere, Brick Break, and Dragon Pulse. He cannot use reversal anymore. Make sense? Abilities Pokemon all have their own abilities that are used when specified. If you want to learn more about your Pokemon's specific ability, you can search it on http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Ability But the ability Pick Up needs to be specified for RP. Pick Up A Pokemon will only pick up an item if it has been outside of it's pokeball for the entire thread. Here's the item list and code. If the thread is at least two pages long: Any type of Pokeball, a Potion, or any sort of single status healer (ex. Antidote, Paralyze Heal, Ice Heal, et.c) If the thread is at least five pages long: Super Potion, Hyper Potion, or a Revive. -TM List: 1,4,5,6,7,8,10,11,12,16,18,19,20,21,23,27,28,32,33,37,39,40,41,42,44,45, 46, 47, 4875, 76, 7,,49, 51, 53, 54, 56, 59, 61, 62, 63, 65, 66, 67, 69, 70, 71, 72, 73, 74, 77, 83, 85, 86, 87, 88, 90, 92, 93, 94. If the thread is at least eight pages long: Any random Plate (Ex. Dread Plate, Ice Plate, Draco Plate, etc.), any other random held item (ex. Leftovers, Rocky Helmet, Nevermeltice, etc.) -TM List: 2, 3, 9, 13, 14, 15, 17, 22, 24, 35, 26, 29, 30, 31, 34, 35, 46, 48, 43, 50, 52, 55, 57, 58, 60, 64, 68, 78, 79, 80 , 81, 82, 84, 91, 95 If the thread is ten pages long: Any random evolution stone (Ex. Fire Stone, Water Stone, Dusk Stone, etc.) What item you receive will be determined by the Mod. The Mod will judge how well of a rp'er you were, how fair in battling (if there was battling), and/or how you reacted to events that you faced. If you feel a mod is being unfair on your Pick Up ability, let me know and I'll look into it. Evolution *Note:* When Pokemon evolve and their evolution knows a basic move that is normally unobtainable unless by remembering it, they are automatically given the option of learning the move upon evolving. Example: Your Buizel evolved into Floatzel. Upon evolving Floatzel is given the option of learning Ice Fang which is a basic move for it. Happiness For a Pokemon to evolve with happiness (Budew, Munchlax, Riolu, Pichu, etc.) they must play a direct role in AT LEAST Ten (10) good threads. By "good threads" I mean a thread that is at least Three (3) pages long. The Pokemon must play a lead, or second lead, role in the entire thread for it to gain a happiness point. Once you have Ten (10) happiness points then it will evolve after it wins one more battle. (Hence needing Ten good threads) Time of Day There are a handful of Pokemon that evolve based on the Time of Day (Nighttime or Daytime). I think this rule should be very obvious, but I'll clarify anyways... ... ... You know. I think an example would be easier than trying to explain it. We'll use Wurmple as the example Pokemon of the day! Eevee defeated Seedot. The stars were high in the sky and the moon cast a deep shadow over everything. Eevee began to glow brightly in the darkness! Oh my! Eevee evolved into Umbreon! (yay!) Eevee defeated Seedot. The sun was high in the sky. Eevee began to glow brightly! Oh my! Eevee evolved into Espeon! (yay!) Get it? If not... Well... Ask me or a mod for more details. Legendary Encounters As we all know, Legendary Pokemon are the true powerhouses of the Pokemon world. You know what the means right? They're nearly impossible to find and when you do find them they're hell'uh hard to battle. Well, unlike the game, you can't catch them. Nope, sorry. But, you might meet them! Wouldn't that be amazing? Have Celebi give you a little time travel taste. Surf the oceans with Kyogre. Feel the ozone with Rayquaze. You get the idea Anyways. You didn't come here to hear me babble about how epic Legendaries are. You're here to know the rules on these Pokemons titans. Well, here they are! Rule #1: You CANNOT catch any Legendaries. That'd be unfair to the others. Rule #2: When you meet a Legendary don't attempt to battle it. It'll probably just kick your butt or run away and you'd waste your one encounter with it. Rule #3: Don't ask to meet a Legendary. It'll lower your chances of actually meeting one, which is already really low (about a 3%-5% chance) Rule #4: Some Legendaries can only be sen during an event or Promo. During that Promo or event the chance of seeing that Pokemon raise a lot (to about 30% chance). Rule #5: No, most of the event dates are NOT set. So, don't ask. Okay. Now, here's the places where you might meet a Legendary. Locations ~All credit for these rules goes to LunaSkyo~ |
