The sun beat down on the forfotten desert, why it was forgotten he really didn't know. He had left RustThorn earlier the same day, he was beginning his journey through the Tokai Region, so far it was just him and Agua his partner Totdile. Together they braved the ocean, became best friends, and even got in trouble! Today though they were out to train, and maybe find a nice pokemon if they were lucky. One thing that he knew is that this region wasvery diffrent from his home region of Kanto. He wiped a bead of sweat out of his eyes as he looked over the desert. They had been walking for a few hours and he was already getting tired, they had already seen a couple pokemon but he was pretty sure that he didn't want to mess with an angry mother Hipowdon. He felt a tug on his Jeans as he heard a faint grumble. He looked down at his little pokemon partner who kept tugging at his jeans and whining. "totodile" he groaned faint with hunger. He smiled a bit and decided to stop near a nearby boulder that was placed conveniently near the main path. They walked over and sat down, James took out a water bottle and took a drink. He passed the rest to Agua who swallowed the whole thing in one gulp much to James displeasure. "Agua that was our only water!" he exclaimed worridley Agua paniked and tried barfing it back up but it was no use. so in dismay they sat under the shady boulder. A good distance in front of you, a shape appeared and began walking across the desert, oblivious to the heat, and, well, everything. It didn't even glance your way as it skipped through the sand, towards some unknown destination. It resembled an animated teddy bear, colored white with red spots all around. The sun continued to beat down relentlessly, no wind stirred the great sand dunes. It might be wise to follow this shape, wherever it was headed. Maybe it knew where some water was. On the other hand.. maybe it had lost its mind, and it was best to avoid it. Your choice. James sat against the boulder, it was really hot out and he could barely make out any images, the strange pokemon kept walking right along. Puzzled he wearily stood up, he gently kicked Agua who gave him a cold glare before looing inthe direction that James was pointing at. All of a sudden Agua started running at the strange pokemon, James tried to look at it but the sunlight was so harsh, he could only see a blurry image. so he did what any trainer would do he whipped out his handy dandy PokeDex, he turned it on and waited as it scanned the pokemon that Agua was chasing, poor guy probably though it was a giant piece of chicken.... The Spinda turned to face you as your Totodile's footsteps padded softly along the sand. It swayed on its feet, then waved happily with a smile on its face. Then again, it was always smiling, and there was no way to confirm that it was actually looking at Agua. It stumbled a little, tripping on air, and continued swaying in its spot. Your Pokedex scanned the Pokemon in front of you, but gave three results. One, you were sure to be familiar with: "Totodile. The Big Jaw Pokemon. Despite the smallness of its body, Totodile's jaws are very powerful. While the Pokémon may think it is just playfully nipping, its bite has enough power to cause serious injury." The next confirmed the Pokemon Agua was running towards. "Spinda. The Spot Panda Pokemon. No two Spinda are said to have identical spot patterns on their hides. This Pokémon moves in a curious manner as if it is stumbling in dizziness. Its lurching movements can cause the opponent to become confused." The third Pokemon, you couldn't see, but it had to be there, right? Unless, of course, your Dex was glitching. "Sandile. The Desert Croc Pokemon. The sun-warmed sands prevent their body temperature from dropping. It moves along below the sand's surface, except for its nose and eyes. A dark membrane shields its eyes from the sun." James wasn't surprised to see Agua'a name on the Pokedex. The spindra surprised him a bit, he kinda though thhat through the blurry sky it looked like Baltoy. But whaat really surprised him was that somewhere around where the Pokedex was facing was a Sandile! "well isn't that intresting" he said as he started walking over to Agua who was running circles around the spindra. Personally he wanted to look around a bit for the Sandile somewhere neaarby, he wasn't a fan of Spindra never really was, they creeped him out, always smiling. He felt a shiver go down his spine as its smiling face turned twoards him. He considered attacking the Spindra to make Agua get stronger, but he knew that it was a normal type pokemon and they were usually only weak against Fighting, so instead he looked around on the ground for the presumeably hidden Sandile. Agua just kept running around in circles around the Spindra which just stood there smiling, he wasn't even looking at it and he was already creeped out. The Spinda gave a sort of shrugging motion before turning on its heel and tottering off. It was probably for the best, as it was harmless and probably wouldn't be fun to battle anyways. As for the Sandile.. You would have have to use some clever tactics if you wanted to find it, but you already knew it was here, so it shouldn't be too hard to convince it to come out of hiding, right? As for the weather, a breeze finally blew, but instead of bringing some cold, refreshing air, the breeze was even hotter than the surrounding air. Some dust blew off of a nearby sand dune and began to swirl in a small cyclone. A wind blew from the opposite direction, adding more hot air and sand to the cyclone, increasing its power. It was about half your size for now, but if it continued to grow at this rate, it could become quite dangerous and damaging in the midst of a future battle. James looked back at the Pokedex Re-looking at the data on Sandile, It was under the sand and cooled itself off by being under it. The only thing visible would be the trademark black eyes, and it's nose of course. He groaned as the desert sun grew hotter, that sandstorm would be a bit of a problem, it would make finding the Sandile difficult. So he started walking around looking at the ground with his hands over his eyes, hopefully it was still and not moving around. James was just about to give up when he saw it, though it wasn't exactly in a favorable location. He saw it's black eyes peeking up just over the sand. The bad news is that it was right next to the sandstorm. He sighed knowing it would be a difficult battle. He whistled getting Agua's attention resulting in him running over to James. "Okay boy we got ourselves a potential family member, are you up for it?" he asked Agua's head bounced up and down as it jumped happily, "Toto" it said trying to show James his guts. "that's what I thought... AGUA USE SCRATCH!" he yelled pointing at the sandal who had obviously heard him seeing Agua running at him. The Sandile saw your Totodile coming from a mile away, and easily evaded the Scratch attack. He seemed to almost swim through the sand as he doubled back. He stared your Pokemon straight in the eye and glared at him with a terrible look. The Leer attack was meant to intimidate your Totodile, and decrease his defenses. Meanwhile, the small sandstorm grew larger with a new breeze. The small storm now encompassed you and your Pokemon, and your poor Water type Pokemon took a little bit of damage from the swirling winds, as well as getting a ton of dust in his eyes. James could tell that agua was nervous, the Sandile had stared fiercely at him and James knew that it had used leer on him. Agua gave a look back at James as if to say 'are you sure about this?' James didn't want Agua to be scared but he didn't want him to run away just because he was scared or his defenses were lowered. "you can do it Agua!" James yelled over the fury of the sandstorm. It's large size had created a very large problem for him and Agua. He could see the little pokemon rubbing his eyes trying to get the sand out. He could tell that it was hurting him, James also had trouble in the storm as he had to cover his eyes a bit, he had to think of something fast. "Totodile use Leer, give it a taste of it's own medicine!" he yelled over the wind. Your alligator-like Pokemon copied the Sandile's move, something he didn't expect for sure. In fact, the two Pokemon were a lot alike. Their biggest difference seemed to be their typing, which made the Sandile weak to any Water type move your Pokemon could throw at him. He got the full force of the Leer attack, causing him to shudder from head to toe. This other Pokemon was bigger than him, and he had a trainer, which meant he could battle forever without completely losing stamina. But he wasn't going to give up fighting now. Tired of stat changed, he went for the big guns. He was one of the few Pokemon who had a move with their own type at level five, and he took great advantage of it whenever a lonely ghost type wandered through the desert. Opening his mouth wide, his teeth began to glow with a black aura, and he elegantly crossed the sand to your Pokemon for a Bite attack. The BlackGlasses would only increase its Dark-type power. James could see the attack coming at Agua. With thr black glasses it would only make Bite stronger. He paniked before giving a command. "dodge it Agua!" he yelled over the storm. Agua jumped out of the way but James had given the command to late and the Bite attack had caught Agua on the leg throwing him back a bit. He got up a little shakily but was still determined giving a quick "todo" as he cautiosly moved back closer to thr Sandile. James looled at his pokemon nervously he knew that now that he was hurt that he would need to keep an eye on him. "Agua use scratch!" James yelled trying to get Agua moving again and get his mind off of the Bite attack. Agua was closer then before and hopefully thr leer attack would hurt Sandiles defense. The Sandile was too busy gloating over its successful Bite attack to pay attention to your counter attack. Auga's aim was true, and the Scratch attack hit his vulnerable eyes, even behind the BlackGlasses. The attack was a critical hit, and a one hit knockout. The Sandile, fainted, lie sprawled out on the sandy ground. The sandstorm brushed a few more bits of dirt into yours and Agua's eyes, but then a new wind shifted it to the south of both of you, leaving the air hot, dry, and clear once more. You could choose to catch the Sandile, or you could leave it in the middle of a hot, unforgiving desert for the sake of some experience. James walked over to the Sandile, he was at a difficult position he wanted Agua to become stronger but he didn't want to have guilt over his head for the rest of his life. He looked down at Agua who was sitting on the ground taking a breath of the fresh air. "what do you think?" he asked Agua Agua licked his injured foot for a second before looking back at him and as usual had a great big smile on his face. James couldn't help but let one creep up on his face as they both nodded. James reached back and took out a pokeball one of the three he got in town. He tossed it at the Sandile, it turnedinto red and went into the pokeball. After a few seconds the ball stopped moving and became still. James walked over to it and picked the ball up. He looked down at Agua who seemed happy. "we'll call you Sobek" he said remembering about the old myths. All seemed still in the desert once more. The Spinda had disappeared over the horizon, and the sandstorm had vanished as well. All that was left was you and Agua, and the crippling heat. As you looked around you, you could see nothing for miles except hot sand dunes in all directions. Most Pokemon that lived in the area would be burrowed under the sand, where it was at least a few degrees cooler. Hopefully you knew some survival techniques, because if you were stuck in this awful climate for too much longer, you'd be hard pressed to keep yourself and your Pokemon healthy. Your best options were to either sit down and (foolishly) hope help would come your way, or you could pick a random direction and start walking. Maybe you'd even have a mirage. James looked down at Agua who was licking his hurt leg. He looked around, the sandstorm had covered the road leading to Rusthorn and up ahead. James put the pokeball in his backpack and closed his eyes, he started spinning around in a circle much to the confusion of Agua who looked at James nervously. Suddenly Jakes stopes with his finger out. "that way it is then" he said James started walking in the direction he pointed. Agua was doing good being able to keep up. But afterca while he could feel his lips getting chapped and his throat dry, he looked ahead but saw no stop to the desert. He grunted as he trudged along starting to panic, until he thought he saw a large blue splotch, and maybee trees? He felt his heart racing a mile a minute as he ran towards the, what hopefully wasn't a mirage, Oasis. As you neared the small pool of water, surrounded by many palm trees, the oasis only seemed to get farther and farther away. A giggle to your right caught your attention, where a young girl was grinning. An Abra floated at her side. If you looked back at the mirage, many trippy thing took place, such as neon pink water and dancing trees. Now the Abra was just screwing with your head. The girl gave a small wave, then quickly darted past a sand dune and over a hill, her hair blowing in the wind dramatically behind her. The Abra floated along behind his trainer, lagging a little, but unperturbed by her erratic behaviour. James was upset, and it took a lot to get him upset. He wanted that water so badly, and so did Agua! He could hear Agua growling in anger and dissapointment. He put on his headphones and started playing rock music as he chased the little girl. There were two reasins he was doing this, one: she was a punk who tricked hik into seeing hope, and two: she might know where water is. "hey you, that was a dirty trick!" he yelled at her. Agua was clinging onto his neck as he couldn't keep up with James. James knew that Abra was weak against Dark types but Sobek was fainted from their last battle, Agua was injured at about 75% so he was hoping they wouldnt battle. On the other side of the large, sandy dune, was a true oasis. A few water Pokemon splashed down below in a pond, and a Tentacool snaked a tentacle around a Marill and pulled her into the lake playfully. The girl and her Abra we already at the bottom of the hill, talking to middle aged woman on the lake shore in a swimming suit, obviously making an attempt to tan her pale skin. She was fair haired, like the little girl, but the younger girl had her hair long and wild, while the woman had hers trimmed short to her chin. Nearby was a hut, as well as a long metal pipeline, partly visible above the sand, which probably brought water from the rest of the world to this strange home. For a couple seconds James just stood there on top of the hill. He took off his headphones and ran his hands through his sweaty hair. This isn't a mirage right? Apparently not as Agua jumped off his back and started running to the water, he tripped though and started rolling down the hill until he fell right into the pool. "yes, oh yeah! Eat that nature" he yelled as he ran down the hill. He threw his headphones and shoes off as he ran down the hill, although like his pokemon he tumbled down the hill until he copied what Agua had just done, on the way down his shirt and backpack had come off. He rollers into the water, he could see a Maril and Tentacool playing with Agua. James swam around a bit underwater getting that sweat off his body. After a bit he climbed out of the pool to see the two women looking at him a bit strangely. "Hi..." said James as he caught his breath and stood up. He could see the younger girl holding the hands if the adult in front of him. "Hello." said the older woman. "And what brings you here to our own little slice of paradise?" The little girl giggled, nudging her Abra and then darting off into her home, emerging moments later in her swimsuit. She ran across the burning sand, barefoot, as her Abra trailed along behind her with a small frown. The girl dove into the water headfirst, and came up gasping for air with a jubilant smile. Her Abra simply hovered over the water, not really wanting to get wet. Her mother watched all of this with a big smile, then turned to you as she waited for your story. James grabbed a nearby towel and started rubbing it all over his built lean body. After he was dry he sat down and began telling her what happened. He started with how he was walking through the desert, how they met Spinda and fought and captured Sobek, and finally how the girl used her Abra to make him and Agua think there was an Oasis nearby. "so as you saw we came over the hill, fell down into the water, now here I am!" he said making a bit of emphasis with his hands. He took a sip of water that he found inside the hut. It seemed rather nice inside surprisingly! It was actually deceptively big, it turns out that the cable came straight from RustThorn city providing water and power to the small Oasis. James ran his fingers through his hair with a small smile on his face. "So what are you two doing here?" he asked the woman James could see the girl playing with Agua and the other pokemon out of the corner of his eye, he wished he could bring Sobek out but he was far from a poke center. "Oh, us?" she said with a gentle smile. "We live here. My daughter, myself, out Pokemon, and.." With a boom, the door of the hut flew open, and all the smiles of the family and their Pokemon slipped from their faces. With a horrified whisper, the woman said, "..my husband." Pasting a fake smile on her face, she walked over to the huge man with the scowl on his face. "Hi, honey! We have a visitor, see?" The man drew his eyebrows together as he looked at you, then grunted, his eyes red and his gait wobbly, and walked back into the house. "Sorry about that." she said, walking over to you. She was smiling once more, but her eyes had a haunted look. "We moved out here because my husband can be a bit.. uncivilized at times." On closer inspection, there was a blueish tint to her skin under one of her eyes, as if it had been bruised so many times the skin had just decided to stay that color. The Marill splashed the little girl, making her laugh, and they resumed the watery fun as if nothing had happened, like it was a weekly--or even daily--occurrence. James's eyes suddenly widened, now it all made sense, why they live out here, why that ladies skin is blue in some spots. He clenched his fists until they turned white, it wasn't right what that man was doing and he couldn't tell officer Jenny because she would probably arrest him, on second thought that actually sounded pretty good. But he was miles from the police station which is about three miles if he followed the power line. "miss, I'm sorry but.... I'm afraid i think I should tell officer Jenny about your husband" he said to her He didn't want to know how she would react, so he turned around and grabbed his belongings. He quickly threw on his clothes and called to Agua, who like his usual demeanor jumped out of the water and stood beside him, The Oasis had seemed to rejuvenate him a bit as he saw that Agua's leg was almost better. He was tempted to call out Sobek to heal but he decided not to chance it. He refilled his waterbottle and started heading to the powerline, he had a sad look on his face, James knew that this probably would make the mom sad but, his heart was telling him to do what was right. The little girl sprinted to catch up with you, her Abra floating along behind her. She had two more Pokeballs in her hands that held the Tentacool and the Marill, and as she stopped you, she had a steely glint in her eye. "You can't do that." she said, frowning. "I have more Pokemon than you, and yours is still a little hurt, isn't it?" Now she pouted. "You can't tell on Daddy. You have to promise not to tell." Her eyes were large and blue, and her puppy dog eyes were irresistibly adorable. Getting her father arrested would obviously break her heart, and as her mother walked up behind you and put her hand on your shoulder, she only confirmed this thought. "He's all we have. Melonie, let's go back to the house." "But, mo--" "Melonie. We have to trust him to make the right choice. Besides, your Dad will be hungry soon." Her daughter nodded, and they walked back to the small hut, and in hand, the Abra following behind, and leaving you with one of the hardest choices you'd probably encounter in your life. James stood there for a second not really knowing what to do. He was between a rock and a hard place. He started feeling angry, he knew that he should tell officer Jenny but the way the little girl looked at her made him melt. What the hell was he supposed to do. He yelled a bit and started kicking the sand nearby. He picked up a rock and threw it at the hut it missed obviously but it let him blow off steam. He continued his tantrum while Agua just stood there watching him with a sad look on his face. James felt torn he couldn't do this... Wait there was always the third option... "That's it! But we'll need Sobek to do it, buddy I'm gonna have to ask you to do something" he said to Agua as he crouched down. He whispered his plan to Agua who smiled as he heard it. James wished badly that Agua would get it and do it. This was the only other option so he would have to pray it worked. After he finished Agua gave a quick nod and ran back to the hut. James sat there hoping they wouldn't get caught. Agua was at the doorway. He looked up and saw the family eating together at a small table. They were talking the fat smelly one seemed upset about something as he was yelling at the two females. Agua ran under the table before he could be spotted. He tried hard not to hit the families legs as he maneuvered his way through. Agua had gotten past the small dining room and found himself in what was hopefully the kitchen, if he understood his master right he had better start searching, because he was going to have to steal a revive and potion..,,, (I think I messed up somewhere, but I'm sure it will work out nonetheless. XD) |

The little girl's eyes widened as she saw your Totodile scuttle under the table, but her mother gave her a small kick to keep her from saying anything. The woman listened intently to her husband as he went off on a rampage, and narrowly missed kicking Agua all the way to Autumn Port. The woman wondered vaguely what the trainer was up to, but was distracted by a palm to her skull. "ARE YOU LISTENING TO ME?" her husband roared. "Y-yes, dear." she squeaked. "Of course." |
