Former Forest manager Dave Mackay has passed away aged 80. The Edinburgh-born player won ten British and European trophies in his nineteen year career and was capped 22 times for his country. Mackay was also named Footballer of the Year in both Scotland and England.

Mackay, then managing Swindon, took over at Forest following Matt Gillies' departure in November 1972 and was building a promising side when he was asked to replace his former boss at Derby in October '73. Little did we realise that Clough himself would be joining the Reds within two years. It was Mackay who brought former manchester City starlet Ian Bowyer to the City Ground from Leyton Orient
