My take on the players who have had the honour of representing our famous club in this historic season. Those of a nervous disposition should look away now.
Shining Lights in a sea of dross
Cohen and Assombalonga
Cohen has returned to 1st team duties after his 3rd major injury and it's great to have a player who clearly cares for the club back on the pitch. If he can return to his previous form it will be a massive boost however Freedman only gave him a 12 month contract extension as opposed to the 3 and 4 year deals he gave to anyone with a pair of boots. Brit the grinning assassin will be injury free and become that 20 goals a season hero we have been looking for. Top player Top bloke.
Our better players
De Vries Lichaj Mancienne and Mills
Despite what some of our deluded fans think our better players are pretty much bog standard championship fare.De Vries survived being dropped by Doogie as soon as he arrived and survived being replaced by Hamer to become player of the year. Lichaj and Mills are steady but no better than what any other championship side have. Mancienne was played out of position by Doogie for 3 months until the penny dropped that he was actually a good centre half.
Others
Lansbury the marmite man of Forest, his form has suddenly improved by playing further forward or because he wants an improved contract depending on how you view him.Time to cash in on a player who is nowhere near as good as he thinks he is. Fox hopeless at LB but good cover for centre half. Ward 2 or 3 decent performances around Christmas had Doogie telling us that Ward was the best free transfer of the summer window. 3 more years of him being constantly injured to look forward to. Blackstone seems to have been around for ever and we are stuck with him for another season, hopeless at this level . Vaughan best days are behind him but ok when fit.Hobbs nowhere near good enough usually injured. O.Burke immense promise but starved of action by Freedman. Osborne missed the first 3 months of the season due to illness injury loss of form and for being too young, strong finish to the season. Would benefit from a decent squad number. Jorge Grant (are his parents Spanish?) looks about 14 but seems to have been around for ever without making any progress.
Out of contract
Wilson bye bye Tesche bye bye Reid bye bye ( for now)
Injured
Fryatt who?
Out on loan
Paterson deserves another chance if he wants it Tyler confidence shot to pieces by Freedman will come again C.Burke honest trier who came to Forest 2 years to late.
Loan signings
O'Grady one word why Williams not fit not good enough Embecilio words fail me Mendes one trick pony Olivera scored 9 missed 29 nowhere near brave enough and almost allergic to the 6 yard box. Trotter plodding midfielder who wasn't getting a game at Bolton. Jokic yes yes yes to misquote Meatloaf 1 out of 9 ain't bad. Macheda Doogies parting gift wouldn't get a game for Ryecroft Reserves.
It can only get better
