Nott's manager Keith Curle is rumoured to be more than interested in Nottingham Forest's on loan Coventry striker David McGoldrick in the in January transfer window.

McGoldrick, out of favour at the City Ground is on loan at the Ricoh Arena until January, but City have little or no funds in the transfer kitty to secure his permanant capture. Nott's however do, and are preparing a bid for the in form striker who has bagged six goals in eleven games for the struggling Skyblues.

McGoldrick came through the youth system at Meadow lane and Curle is aware of his talents. In an interview with the NEP he said of McGoldrick ."He is a player I like and it will be interesting to see exactly what his plans are come January," "We looked at him in the summer, but he was outside what I wanted to spend."

Signed from Southampton for £1m by Billy Davies, the 24 yera old is out of contract at the end of the season and Forest boss Sean O'Driscoll admitted McGoldrick was not in his long term plans, "At the minute, he is better off where he is," he said. "His confidence will be high and if he can put himself in the shop window that would benefit everyone."

Think it may be the best thing for Forest and McGoldrick if he moves on in January.

We may get a token fee for him, but it will be a good chunk off our wage bill.

McGoldrick has never fulfilled his potential for us, due to a number of reasons, primarily a severe lack of confidence that has been exacerbated by fans being on his back whenever he plays for us.. He is in a position at Forest where no matter how well he played, he would never get the fans on his side.. We have far better strikers in Sharp, Cox & Blackstock. Radi is a far superior attacking Midfielder and I would rather see Pep or Coppinger on the right.

He needs a fresh start at a new club. Hope he goes to Notts and helps them to promotion.

I agree entirely, McGoldrick is a confidence player who needs to feel he's a major part of the team (which, with his talents he should be) He must've thought the move back to Nottingham was a dream come true when Billy Davies spent a million quid for his services, pity it turned out to be a nightmare.

I wish him all the best wherever he goes, so long as it isn't back to Meadow Lane. Notts' (Fans?) take far too much pleasure in slagging off our players, and then pouncing on the ones that are surplus to requirement. :D

I too wish him all the best, I think he fell into the Forest striker curse which goes back for as long as I dare to remember! The trouble is I can't actually work out whether he really is playing at his level in league 1 or if given a decent run in our team and his confidence brimming, he would have actually made it.

Either way, with SO'D's comments I doubt we will see him in a Forest shirt again. To get rid for a nominal fee in January is the better option for both parties as McGoldrick certainly won't want to come back and play for the reserves until his contract expires.
