York City are understood to have failed in a cheeky attempt to get Jonathan Greening in on loan until the end of the season. York boss Nigel Worthington is not giving up on the player however, he told the Yorkshire post "We tried to bring him to the club and made the phone call," "It's not happening because they did not want to let the lad out and want to keep him with the rest of the squad. "I will keep tabs on his situation though next week because you never know what can change in this game." Greening 32, began his career at York before moving on to Manchester united after a brief trial. He later played for Middlesbrough, West Brom and Fulham before signing a three year deal for Forest in 2011. |
