Don't be so quick to RC off of a MTW. It's a big waste of heat and very inefficient due to proration. what you should work for is implementing mind games and gimmicks afterwards. If they're magnetized, one of my favorite things to do is whiff a Gadget Finger into a 360A. My friend and I refer to it as "The Gadget Roll." If they tech and don't have any instant start up counters (i.e. tsubami geishi, inferno divider, etc.) then most of the time they should fall right into your hands. This technique is not only great for post MTW shenanigans but great for post 360A's. If they aren't magnetized and you go for a MTW, you have many choices. If you don't have them in the corner it's a good way to reset the field of play and back off for a bit of Voltic Charging. If they are in the corner, either block, AC, or Voltic Charge-360/720. The Voltic Charge has invincibility against mid/overhead so unless they hit low you'll be okay. Once you find the hole in their string, use the recovery of Voltic Charge to buffer and you should be all set. I also love baiting Tsubami/Inferno Dividers and VC > 720C. It's so gratifying. Oh, and as far as strings go for Tager. Entering a combo via 5B-2B-5B, 5A xN, etc. is not very smart. Use it to mix up your opponents, sure, but don't use it as part of your BnB. Doing this will prorate the crap out of any damage you were hoping to do. Edited by Bacon4thetakin, Dec 16 2010, 11:18 AM.

I'm probably being a little defensive but why are people stating way obvious points when trying to give tips? "VC blocks overhead and mid." Thanks bro, glad we've got some Tager pros here finally >.> Seriously though, please don't be so insulting. "Tager is way more than just a command throw." Really? You're preaching to the choir, the Tager mains here are worth their salt. More friendly note; - I wake up with A-Buster sometimes, it's pretty effective. Also, quick stand 2C fakes people out SOMEHOW...it's like 20 frames but people eat it all the time waiting for Tager to tech. -After MTW, short AC (whiff) to bring them to your feet, 360B tech trap? I haven't tested it but I used a similar trick in CT. -Safe block strings with Tager, ouch. semi safe 5a5c6c JC j.b j.a (reset/ mixup) I typically go for a tick throw after j.a. |

I may sound conceited, but I think the "Tager is way more than just a command throw." post was towards my post(the 2nd post in this thread) because they took it the wrong way. Another approach to other posts is maybe some people here think we're all oblivious since we only have a handful of people. And because of that, they think "OMG IM GNNA B DA MIKEZ OF DIS FORUM". I wish there was something worth posting here. But a lot of the questions we have already been answered on DustLoop. Sure, their community isn't all smiles and open arms, but the information they carry is all valid. |

I didn't mean to come off as "im so effing good" or "you all suck, listen to me." If my last post came off like that, I sincerely apologize. The small little info-bits I put in my post such as "VC blocks overhead/mid" are there just as a reminder for people who may not know. I know that for the longest time I didn't pay attention to block properties because I always just went offensive with my tactics. Only when I really started to put time into the game/mechanics did I take things into consideration. Again, the slightly obvious tidbits in my post was directed towards players who may be newer to the game and might not realize why VC (for example) could be a good/bad choice. Also, it's good to throw those reminders out every now and then because if new players come searching threads they may not want to go through every single page hoping to find out this information, so I place it there in case that happens as well. Again, sorry if I came off as arrogant/thinking I was better than all of you. That really wasn't my intent, I just wanted to fully explain the thought process of my tactics. |

It can't hurt to mention little things like that. It's better to just mention it in passing that say something blocks overheads or whatever, than have to explain it in a separate post if one person doesn't get it. I think it was just a misunderstanding in general. Remember people I try to find nice and good people to invite on here. Never take something someone says personally, unless it's blatantly obvious that is the case. |
