Kanda: ….emptying their barrels of toxic kanda, a lethal poison extracted from one of Gor’s desert shrubs. (Tarnsman of Gor, chapter sixteen, page 144) Poison, Ost: I was scarcely aware of the brief whimpering of the Paravaci as, twisting and turning on the rug, biting at it, holding his arm, his flesh turning orange from ost venom, he writhed and died. (after being bitten by Saphrar, see quote under Poison Teeth) (Nomads of Gor, Chapter twenty-six, page 318) The small man held up a tiny packet. “This,” he said, “is the poison, a powder prepared from the venom of the ost.” I shuddered. Death by ost venom is among the most hideous of deaths. (Captive of Gor, Chapter 17, page 357) I took the packet of poison from my rep-cloth kitchen tunic, and dissolved it in the wine. I had been told there was enough there to bring a hundred men to an excruciating death. I swirled the wine, and discarded the packet. (Elinor preparing the Ost Poison) (Captive of Gor, Chapter 17, page 359) Poison pins or needles: In that moment both the Tatrix and Dorna the Proud plunged sharp instruments, pins of some sort, into my back and arm, I laughed at the absurdity of this, and then, my vision blackening, the pillar whirling, I fell at their feet. My muscles no longer obeyed my will. (Outlaw of Gor, chapter sixteen, page 144) Poison Teeth: …he also had two teeth of gold, which were visible when he laughed, the upper canine teeth, probably containing poison; merchants are seldom trained in the use of arms. (Nomads of Gor, chapter nine, page 85) Saphrar was screaming insanely and then, to my astonishment, he bit the Paravaci's forearm, sinking the two golden upper canine teeth into the hooded man's flesh. The Paravaci suddenly cried out in uncanny fear and shuddered (Nomads of Gor, Chapter twenty-six, page 318) …some drops of melted gold, what had been left perhaps of the golden drops which Saphrar of Turia had worn over his eyes, and the two golden teeth, which hall once held the venom of an ost. (Nomads of Gor, Chapter twenty-six, page 323) Tassa: "First," he said, "you have been unconscious, for better than forty-eight hours." She regarded him, startled. "That is partly a function of your age," he said. "Younger individuals recover considerably more quickly." (effects of Tassa powder) (Prize of Gor, Chapter 4, page 52) Tassa powder, which was presumably used, as it commonly is in such situations, though doubtless most frequently with younger women, is tasteless, and, dissolved in liquid, colorless. (Prize of Gor, Chapter 4, page 58) To be sure, her age might have had something to do with her condition. Tassa powder, which she later learned was used on her, allegedly has few, if any, lingering aftereffects, or at least, she was assured, on younger women. And it is on such women, of course, considerably younger women, that it is most often used. (Prize of Gor, Chapter 4, page 64) "I do not know, Master," she said, confused. "I feel faint, Master." "You may break position," he said. She sank to her side on the steps, before the curule chair. "It is not simply ka-la-na which you have imbibed," he said. "It was mixed with tassa power. You had some weeks ago, on Earth." She shook her head, trying to retain consciousness. She looked up at him, tears in her eyes. (Prize of Gor, Chapter 15, page 357) "You had been given tassa powder," he said. "Yes, Master," said Ellen. "How do you feel?" he asked. "Well, Master," she said. "Good," he said. "There are usually few, if any, aftereffects. Are you hungry?" (Prize of Gor, Chapter 16, page 375) "After tassa powder," said the man, "a girl is often ravenously hungry. But when the girl awakens in ropes, or chains, she must wait to find out if she is to be fed or not." (Prize of Gor, Chapter 16, page 376) She also took a drink from the bota, which contained water, as she expected. She feared it might have been drugged, presumably with tasteless tassa powder, to sedate her in the basket, but it had no such effect. (Prize of Gor, Chapter 19, page 617) |
