Alright, this is an idea I've been kicking around for a while and wasn't sure that I was going to actually do this, since I've got other stories that I also need to work on.

But, who cares? I'm doing it anyways.

Alright, the basic premise is that it is in the future (approx. 2280), and is in space.

More specifically, a space-station.

This station was built by the Borshanti, race info to come later, and essentially serves as a trade and diplomatic hub for all the races.

The station is named Ilio'enimet in Borshanti (name may change later), or Light of Hope in English.

It was built after the brutal war between the Borshanti and the Humans, named "The Burning Star War". So named for the deployment of the human weapon that could cause a sun to go nova.

The idea of the story is that all players would have a chance to create their own race and culture, then their main character would be the diplomat on the station.

A few things to keep in mind:

First: No one will be allowed to make a human as one of their characters.

Second: If you wish to have a Borshanti who works on the station, you will have to inform me, so that I can tell you what positions are open.

Third: Alliance, trade, war, etc. of races is to be worked out, and shown in the planing phase before the story starts.

All that being said; I will have a race template, a more detailed history background information later.

For now, please just state if you are interested in taking part in this story.

Race: The Borshanti
Culture Name: The Borshanti Federation
Government Type: Theocracy

Trading Agreements: The Borshati are willing to trade excess foodstuff for various rare minerals
Military Alliances: The Borshati do not wish to be involved in another conflict, therefore will not form a military alliance with anyone.

General Appearance:

Height: between 5 feet and 6 feet
Weight: 80 to 110lb

The Borshanti are slightly shorter, and a lot lighter than humans. The Borshanti exhibit a natural grace and fluidic movement in everything they do. They appear similar to humans in most respects, aside from several minor physical differences. The Borchanti have a binary cardiovascular system, and three types of blood cells. Several other internal organs function the same way as their human counterparts, but have been placed in different areas of the torso. The most prominent differences in the Borshanti appearance is the colour of their eyes, (shades of red, orange and occasionally purple). The second is the two thin bone ridges that run across the top of the skull, starting at the forehead, and ending just above the neck. The Borshati as a specie are herbivores.

Common Cultural Information:

The Borshanti tend to be a peaceful race, their main technology base is agrarian, and civil. They believed that there is a peaceful resolution to every conflict, so they did not invest as much effort into warfare technology. They have many agricultural colonies, and produce more food than they can use. The Borshanti will often trade excess food with other races, in exchange for rare minerals they cannot collect in any system they control.

Although primarily peaceful, the Borshanti realize that not everyone see things the way they do. So, they do have a fleet of ships. Borshanti warships are equipped with high powered lasers, that they use to slice into enemy ships. They also have an advanced form of stealth technology, when active, will prevent enemy ships scanners locking on to it.

Race: Humans
Culture Name: Coalition of Human Planets (Formally Earth Alliance)
Government Type: Unknown, Believed to be Democtatic

Trading Agreement: The Coalition does not trade with anyone
Military Alliance: The Coalition will not form an alliance with anyone

Common Cultural Information:

After the war against the Borshati, the number of planets that the Coaltion controls has droped to 10. It is believed that the Humans still have strong ties to their lost homeworld of Earth, but have yet to reinhabit it. The Coalition has become more inward looking and xenophobic since the time of the Earth Alliance, and has only sent a single repesentive to the Hope of Light station out of nessity.

Any one attempting to cross into Human controled space without permition disapears. The Coalition issues statments that they have suffered from a tragic accecdent, and adivises agains furth travel into Human space.

About Jump Technology:

Alright, I just realized that I talked about jumping, but, have never explained how it works.

In order to tavel faster then light, a ship must "jump" into hyperspace.

Hyperspace is a part of subspace that allows a ship to travel great distances in a reletively short amout of time. Unfortunatlly, due to the strong gravational tides and eddies found in hyperspace, it is dangerous to do to.

All travel through hyperspace is guided by becons that are attached to hyperspace gates, and in orbit around planets. These beacons form a web of paths though hyperspace, allowing for safe navigation. Should a ship stray off the becon path, it can easily become lost forever.

Captial class ships are equipt with a "Jump Engine". This engine allows for the opening of a jump point, meaning that they can enter and exit hyperspace where ever they please.

All smaller class ships must rely on the "Jump Gate" network. These gate are at fixed points, and engerate the power nessisary to allow a ship to enter or exit hyperspace.

Combat in hyperpsace is though of as foolish, and no battle in hyperspace has ended in anything but disaster for both sides.

Destorying jumpgates and the hyperspace becons are never done, even in a time of war. Since without them, it is impossible to rebuild the hyperspace becons system again.

Race: Vreen
Culture Name: The Vreen Collective
Government Type: Monarchy

Trading: The Vreen Collective is open to trade
Military Alliance: The Vreen are open for a Military Alliance

General Appearance:

Hight: 6'0" to 7'6"
Weight: 140lbs to 200lbs

The Vreen resemble a bipedal praying mantis. Their exoskeleton range from a sandy yellow to brown to green. Of the six limbs, the lower two are used for walking, and the upper four end in three fingered claw-like hands. Vreen have large dangerous mandibles, and compound eyes. Two small antenna sprout from the tops of their heads.

Common Cultural Info:

The Vreen use a monarchy system, with a Queen at the most predominant point. The Vreen prefer warm dry climates, such as arid grasslands and plains. The Vreen only control a small number of planets, but all of them are rich in Quantum-40, a key mineral in jump gate construction. While in space, they are often found wandering from planet to planet, trading their supplies of Quantum-40 for whatever they can.
