[Unholy Love Story The young girl was flattered and courted Their clandestine liaison illicit and wrong In secret they cavorted and cuddled Blinded by a love and desire so strong Before long the inevitable happened A swollen belly the proclamation of shame The debased monk returned to his monastery Her furious parents demanded his name. Worn down by threats and coercion The girl was at last forced to confess Her angry father ran to the monastery To confront the miscreant, seeking redress. Satisfaction was demanded and granted A merciless beating before being cast out The Abbot deaf to the penitent monk’s pleading Warned his chances of heaven were in doubt. The girl’s labour was agonisingly bloody Unresponsive she looked at her son Slowly her life force drained from her body With a sigh her existence was over and done. Buried hastily in the garden The Church not wanting to know Her restless spirit is now earthbound Aimlessly wandering with nowhere to go. Centuries later, aware of her presence The householders muse on her fate The tombstone’s inscription withholding the story Of Jane Jones, Aged 15, 1778. RJG |

I am a digital artist, poet and writer. I also have an interest in the paranormal as we live in a haunted house. |

I don't know about living in a haunted house being 'cool' but it iis certaqinly interesting. Even though the activity is continuous we are not frightened by it fortunately. You can get used to anything! :P |

Wow, I'm not usually one for poetry either, but that was great! Loveapple, is this based on your home's history? |

We appear to live in one of the most haunted houses in the UK as we experience such a range on going activity. We have a ghostly monk , a ghostly teenage girl and a teenage boy. We also have a tombstone in the garden which goes walkabout from time to time! The iinscription is Jane Jones Aged 15 1778. I used my imagination and put two and two together and made up the poem! |
