I personally have given up the concept of belief altogether. Belief is, in my mind, when thoughts get fixed. It is far easier to change a thought than a belief when things change, and/or more knowledge is discovered.

I am still waiting for evidence that can be interpreted only in a way which demands a god or creator.

As to how others choose to think or believe, it is all right with me, so long as they don't attempt to require me to think as they think or believe, and don't do that which is harmful to me or ones I love.

I am always quite happy to discuss about any old thing, and if it is interesting enough, I will do research.

I question this all the time.

I'm not sure if I believe in the big daddy in the sky or not. I used to a very long time ago. Seems I have become very skeptical in my old age.

I dunno.

Oh I do NOT believe in the devil. I do believe that humans are capable of doing evil things but it is there choice. I don't even believe in demons at all truly in the sense of the word. I do believe people can have internal struggles they may refer to as demons. I don't believe in angels either. I know I'm no fun at all...

I do believe in negative & positive and a universal energy. To me, God would be a Universal energy, if anything, that just so happens to have the name "God". Does that make sense?

See? I confuse myself too :lmao:

As far as I can tell - something had to always exist. That for me is enough to believe there's a God.

Now as for religions and everything - I don't know what to make of them. But I do believe in God.

I believe in a god. I mean how can I look at all the beauty and not? But the Judeo Christian one? Still out to lunch on that one.

It's very interesting to me when we share our thoughts on this subject. The different ideas y'all shared remind me of the movie Dogma, when Chris Rock's character said (of belief):"I think it's better to have ideas. You can change an idea. Changing a belief is trickier."

And discussing is more fun then preaching.

EDIT: I'm not much for the organization of religion either. I haven't been in church in 22 years. God hears me just fine when I pray-everywhere.

That's great. So many forums just outlaw any of this kind of topic.

Believe me,I'm not a preacher. And I've always been ashamed of those who use Christianity as if it were a weapon. To me, God is Love.

I do believe in God but I also believe in other things that affect our lives. I'm a nature lover and I have a commitment to live in harmony with the earth itself and everything on it. It's my spiritual path.

Yes, that kind of follows my universal love/universal God (?) or maybe it's respect? I do respect and I am not sure if there is a higher power that is specifically God? Is that what we have named it? I dont know. Okay like an overshelming higher power or energy in the universe- I do believe in that BUT I don't know if that is God? Oh heck I'm confusing myself again...

I get very upset with anyone "killing" in any "god's name". That is just wrong.

Its not the church that makes you the believer mate. ;) Its faith. You don't need a church to be able to pray.

In a round about way a church is where a group of believers all come together to worship and praise god.

Or else a Church is the institution that makes the ridiculous claim of being the direct interpreter and go-between with God.

A Church is a group of MEN that prey on people's fears to gain power over them (notably fear of death, until the Dark Ages when that wasn't enough and they added the fiery hell and Satan-as-tormentor to the mix).

Those of you who know me well enough...know my beliefs.."Or lack thereof"...

I don't badger or hold in contempt those who choose to believe in a God. I don't believe in organized religion..I was raised a "Roman Catholic" and have to come to realize that nobody "even if I asked, and asked" could give me the answers for which I truely wanted to find....

I wasn't putting anyone on the spot and saying "Show me"...I just wanted to understand where the concept of religion came from as in who decided the rules...who decides which religion is correct? The more I went in search the more confused I became. ...Till I had no faith at all.

I will also say that I didn't fail my religion it failed me. Gave me a scarlett letter upon my chest for all eternity because I didn't obey their rules and without even knowing it I found that I had broken every one of their cannon laws..Sorry folks but If there is a God and he's watching then I'm sure I would have been exonerated by him and not some man in a robe telling me that I'm a bad person, and if I pay him $800.00 I can be forgiven. Also I had to tell my children they were bastards cuz my religion didn't acknowledge my first or second marriage. Please correct me if I'm wrong but I was taught as a young child that God is a forgiving God..no matter what we do in our lives. Will I be judged here on earth or later? I don't know?

That is why my faith is in the earth as a whole...that is why I follow no organized religion ...I can say that what was imbedded in my brain from the time I can first remember doesn't exist for me anymore. I have no religion at all. Although if I were to go to a mass I can quote it from the beginning to the end.

With that being said I don't bash religion and I don't chastise those who believe. It is for us as humans to have that capability in ourselves to believe or to not believe.
