I saw something about this on Sci-Fi, though the rumor is too old to be true.

Here's something to go along with this: http://www.prairieghosts.com/moth.html

Just in case you didn't know what this is :D

Mothman was the name given to a strange creature sighted many times in the Charleston and Point Pleasant areas of West Virginia between November 1966 and November 1967. Some observers described the creature as a man-sized beast with wings and large reflective red eyes, while others claimed that the creature possessed luminous eyes. A number of hypotheses have been put forward to explain what people reported, ranging from paranormal phenomena to owls.

The Goddess of Darkness & Desire

I grew up hearing about this myth, The locals use to talk about a creature that come at night and when you seen it something bad was going to happen,..Some people use to say it was a demon and that it meet harm was going to follow the person who had crossed it path....Now in truth, WV is the poorest state in the country, People have low paying job's and the town's still look like they did 100 years ago except for the place's that the tourist come into,...I know alot of the older people say this myth was started by a newspaper man and they ran with it cause tourist where coming around looking for the MM and it was bring money into the town's..From what i understand something was seen once and the paper's got wind of it, But as for a real creature in the hill's of WV well rhyknow my whole family lives there and they have never seen it nor have i....But you never know i guess.....
