Firstly Drop bears are really just a practical joke that we Aussies play on Gullible Tourists. They don't really exist.

I don't have time now, but later i will return for a more complete explanation.

The Australian Humor is quite unusual to most non-Aussies. One of the greatest examples of this is the Drop-Bear. The drop-bear is a fictional creature created by Australians to scare tourists into paying the Australians to act as guides in forests.

The myth of the Drop Bear has been strengthened by hundreds of people pulling cruel pranks on their foriegn guests.

No trip to Australia is complete without seeing a Drop-Bear or a Hoop-Snake.

Over time the Drop bear myth has strengthened until it has become a part of Australian Folklore.

The Drop Bear is often described as a larger carnivourous Koala which drops out of trees and lands on the heads of its prey, killing or at least stunning the unfortunate.

After being stunned many more Drop-bears will come out to feed on the hapless person.

Anyway i hope that answered your questions and i am more then willing to supply(make up) more of the legend.
