lol you sounds like my mom with all the sewing machines....she doesn't use them as much as she'd like, she doesn't really have a place to put them and can hardly stand to sit very long and same with her hands......her joints hurt her at times horribly....

Sometimes sitting too long, with the back problems I have makes my hands go numb or tingly.

Arthiritis can be very painful and there really isn't anything you can take that totally relieves the pain. It runs in my family and yes I have it already.

For now I just want to get the gowns done..and I'm also making a "Hand sewn money bag" I have a poem that goes into it that I wrote and it's just something that we hand down from a married family member to a newly married woman...yeah I'm a romantic at heart.

I like to build scale models-jets,ships,sci-fi stuff. Right now I'm building a Romulan Cruiser from Star Trek and a F-4E Phantom II based in South Korea during the 1980s.

It's fun-very exacting trying to duplicate every tiny detail.

my mom does tatting and go to a class for it.....the stuff that is made with it is gorgeous...the historical farm we went to today had a demonstration by my mom's teacher.....pretty cool stuff....

Tatting is a technique for handcrafting a particularly durable lace constructed by a series of knots and loops. Tatting can be used to make lace edging as well as doilies, collars, and other decorative pieces. The lace is formed by a pattern of rings and chains formed from a series of cow hitch, or half-hitch knots, called double stitches (ds), over a core thread. Gaps can be left between the stitches to form picots, which are used for practical construction as well as decorative effect.

Tatting dates to the early 19th century. The term for tatting in most European languages is derived from French frivolité, which refers to the purely decorative nature of the textiles produced by this technique. The technique was developed to imitate point lace.

that's really cool Shiny, i am attemptin to learn to sew...i've only done a couple projects (wish i had wanted to learn when i was young and my mom had the patience to teach me) we went to this sewing class last tuesday at a local library, i made a Christmas tree ornament in the shape of a bell...i didn't quite finish it so my mom took it home to hand stitch the last lil bit where we turned it right-side out. i'll take a pic of it when she brings it back to me. :) but my sister and my mom quilt....my sister is really good at it.
