Do you think Mary was also Jesus's wife and mother of his children...

I am sure we are talking about Mary Magdalene here. The other Mary would just be too creepy.

Um..I say...maybe. I don't know, honestly. I do believe that Jesus was a historical figure, I am not sure about the crucifixion taking place and I am sure that his brother James was right when he denounced the idea of Jesus's divinity.

So that means he was real guy who was a preacher. Sure. He could have married anyone...even Mary Magdalene.

She very well could have been Jesus's wife..It's hard to say really..One thing that people forget when talking about Jesus is..."He was a human being"...they tend to look at him differently because of the whole religion background but when all is said and done..Jesus was a man...and why couldn't he have had affection for a woman...

I voted no. I don't believe Jesus was married and had children.

I think that there may very well have been a historical Jesus, and if there was, the crucifixion more than likely took place. From what the Bible says, there is little doubt that Jesus was arrested for sedition. The common penalty for sedition under Roman rule was crucifixion. When Spartacus and his followers revolted, more than 5,000 of his followers were crucified, along all roads leading into Rome for many miles. When Jesus drove the money lenders from the temple . . . consider . . . I go into a major bank, jump over the tellers window, get into the money drawers and throw the money around, shouting loudly what criminals the bankers are. What do you think would happen to me in our modern world? Then suppose I manage to escape . . . will I not be a man wanted for a crime by authorities? According to the Bible, Jesus was in fact a criminal, that is, he did that which was against the law. The Romans would have seen him as a person attempting to incite people to riot.

Christians make as if the crucifixion of Jesus was a big deal, and unusual and cruel, and that he suffered greatly. What hogwash. His physical punishment was actually quite mild, compared with criminal punishment through the ages. Any one of the victims of Torquemada of the Holy Inquisition would have traded places with Jesus in a heartbeat.

As to Mary Magdalene, sources other than the official books of the Bible say that she was his beloved disciple. The Church had a strange concept of what sexual relations should be between a man and a woman, thanks to St. Augustine, who himself had an admitted serious problem regarding women and sex. He was a roue when he was young. He joined the Church in order to solve this problem, an addiction to sex. It didn't work, he still couldn't rid himself of his almost overwhelming sexual desires, so it is quite natural that he came to believe that sex itself caused his problem. This, by the way, is from St. Augustus' own writings. I also think that this attitude by the Church leaders caused them to deny that Jesus ever had a sexual relationship. It would have been too "impure" for him to have done so. There is no doubt in my mind that the Church leaders edited the books of the Bible before they allowed them to be published (copied).

I personally think it quite probable that Jesus at least had a sexual relationship with Mary M, and that more than likely, given the Jewish law, married her, and not even in secret. Probably, they had children. The Church leaders did all they could to demean Mary, including depicting her as a former prostitute, for which there is not a scrap of evidence, in the Bible, or anywhere else. Funny thing, as women have gained power in religion in general, she has fairly lately been elevated in status, from a reformed prostitute to being the Apostle of the Apostles. In another couple of thousand years, who knows what will be said.

I think there's a possibility that she was.The idea that Jesus could not have married baffles me. He's the Son of God and you're telling me he can't marry? He could do anything he wanted. I think it's a puritanical human idea that marriage (which obviously involved sex) somwhow makes one 'less holy' in fact one Pauline text (which I completely reject, the guy didn't even KNOW Jesus) states that 'it would be better if you did NOT marry'. It's from these ideas that the church deicded that it was 'holier' and a requirement of priests and nuns to remain celibate and not marry yet in Judaism it's considered holy to marry and to become a Rabbi you HAD to be married. Jesus was Jewish and he did practice Judaism even if he bent a few of the rules here and there.
