We found evidence of pottery dating back to the 12th Century and a stone feature that may have been the foundations of a medieval building.. and lots of cows and pigs teeth..

I wish, but not if I value my life :lmao:

It has to be bagged and labeled by context along with a soil sample, then it goes off the Cambridge to be analyzed and the reports from the different sites collated....

Then some poor soul has to write and publish an excavation report :)... If people nick bits then it could skew the analysis of the different sites that were excavated...

As well as the pottery expert there was an animal bone specialist on site... in our pit we had mainly cow teeth (which are the ones that you can see in the picture), pigs teeth, and sheep teeth. Possibly the remains that they discarded from slaughtering animals for food, as it is known that there was a settlement on the site from the Doomsday records in the period the pottery was dated too ... the preservation conditions were poor for bones due to the nature of the soil, which is too acid for the calcium in the bones - but the teeth were ok :)
