Two 16-year-old students from London have been arrested in Ghana allegedly carrying £300,000 of cocaine. The drugs were said to have been found on the girls at Accra airport by officers from the Ghanaian Narcotic Control Board (NACOB). The officers were taking part in Operation Westbridge, a project set up by HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) in conjunction with Ghanaian authorities. The Foreign Office said the girls were receiving consular assistance. A spokeswoman said: "We are aware of the arrest of two British national minors on 2 July at Accra airport. "Next of kin have been informed and we are providing full consular assistance." She said the Foreign Office was unable to confirm any personal details due to the girls' age. HM Revenue and Customs confirmed the teenagers were arrested at Accra airport on 2 July. allegedly carrying an estimated £300,000 worth of cocaine. Source |
