Conservation from the heart: A solar bra Japanese company recognizes limitations of outside use, but cites message Model Yuko Ishida displays Triumph International's "Solar Bra" in Tokyo on Wednesday. She's holding a removable piece that can be used to display an electronic sign board and/or recharge the battery of a mobile phone. updated 10:33 a.m. ET, Thurs., May. 15, 2008 TOKYO - Ladies, take your battle for the environment a little closer to your heart with a solar-powered bra that can generate enough electric energy to charge a mobile phone or an iPod. Oh, it also has pouches to store water so you don't have to carry around environmentally unfriendly plastic. Lingerie maker Triumph International Japan Ltd unveiled its environmentally friendly, and green colored, "Solar Power Bra" on Wednesday in Tokyo. It features a solar panel worn around the stomach. But the panel requires light to generate electricity and the concept bra will not be in stores anytime soon, said Triumph spokeswoman Yoshiko Masuda, as "people usually can not go outside without wearing clothes over it." Still, it does send the message of how lingerie design could help reshape consumer items, Masuda said, adding that the bra should not be washed or exposed to a rainy day to avoid damaging it. Being eco-friendly is now fashionable in Japan, and the "Solar Energy Bra" follows the company's other green-themed undergarments that include a bra that turns into a reusable shopping bag and one that featured metal chopsticks to promote the use of reusable chopsticks. "It is very comfortable and I can really feel involved in eco-friendly efforts as well," model Yuko Ishida said. The bra is also equipped with pads designed to hold water, resembling mini drink pouches, in order to reduce the usage of cans and plastic bottles. It doesn't hurt that the pouches also help fill out certain chest areas. The bra was revealed just prior to the Hokkaido Toyoko Summit, where ministers from the Group of 8 developed nations will address environmental issues. *Looks uncomfortable to me. Not sure what they are trying to do with that contraption...it's bad enough having to wear one to begin with ...now they have to carry water too??? * http://www.msnbc.com/id/24647504 |

Well mystical the only reason why I would think you would wear a bra would be to keep the sagging down to a minimum. Thats just a guess I could be wrong.

Wait, wait, wait!! This is amusing on so many levels I don't know where to begin!! I mean they describe it as being able to store electricity, but then say it also can store water? Last time I checked those two things don't mix!! I can see it know, some surgically enhanced woman is walking down the street. She goes for a sip of water (yeah right, like that it was the drink would be!!) and a few drops spill onto the electrical part!! Suddenly the hair goes frizzy and the boobs explode!! I hope this thing comes with a web cam attached so all of this can get recorded!! I must go now as I was laughing so hard I spilt my water on myself!!

That's not a really nice thing to say there DK. Actually I think that these bras would be more a hindrance than anything else. I mean they look like a straight jacket. Ravenheart I know what you mean. I mean mixing electricity with water how stupid could they be. |

I can just see these girls who would wear these things. Bet their hair gets all frizzy from all the shocks they would get. *They would be randomly walking down the street and get zapped and their hair would stand straight up Hiccup* That's just too funny.

Ummm honey just as long as the panties don't zap the girls. Or if they do umm maybe they could zap in the right places. This is really getting to be a topic.
