some of this......i'm not so sure about....and some of it i agree with especially "God exists, God is perfect, God is pure love and intellect" G N O S T I C C H R I S T I A N S ---------------------------------------------------------- Since the earliest times the Gnostics (from the Greek word gnosis - meaning knowledge) have espoused the primacy of intellect over faith. Novus follows that idea. Indeed, we find that you may directly experience God's wisdom. One such way is through Sylvia Browne, yet any person may also reach into the mind of God, thereby finding great truths. And never forget, every person is part of God. This means anyone can be an agent for the Divine, and reveal great wisdom from Him (and Her!). Novus Spiritus regards understanding as more important than faith. We find that people today need to satisfy their intellect, in addition to their beliefs, where traditional religions do not address this issue. A lack of understanding can impede one's spiritual growth, for without a solid reason for life, many people will merely say: "There cannot be a loving God, as evidenced by the pain and suffering in our world." The task then is to disclose the cause, and meaning, of the pain and suffering so rampant in our world. The erroneous conclusion that God cannot exist is based upon ignorance of the meaning of life. We will show later how a loving God can exist even when set against the background of our world. Notwithstanding the above, faith does have a role. The premise of God's existence cannot be proven in a scientific sense. Hence, we accept the following concepts without proof: God exists God is perfect God is pure love and intellect |

Very nice post Strmy! Personally, I am Agnostic. But, the post in itself is a very good read. So, thank you! Alot of people just simply do not have any kind of an experience with a God. (Possibly due to their up-bringing, or experiences through life).
This part here really catches me though, as Sylvia has been found to be a fraud on numerous accounts. (But, I suppose all psychics are subjective and their readings only reach out to the one's willing to accept them.)
It's interesting that Atheists try and pin the problems on a God. But yet, in the same sentence, they propose a God does not exist. (How convenient?)
Indeed, God cannot be proven with any scientific experiment. From what I have read God can ONLY be known through faith, or though some divine intervention. |

How could we live in a world without any pain in it? Do we not learn from our pain? To me it is only logical that pain exist in this world of ours. I at one time blamed my pain on God because I felt no loving being would allow such pain. But as I grew older I began to realize just how much my pain helped me along the way. As for psychic Sylivia Brown and others like her I feel no one can prove she can do what she can. We are human and everything is subject to change and with knowledge we can change our future for the better or worse. That is our free will at work. |

Sometimes we can indeed change our future by our own actions . . . and sometimes not. Sometimes someone will pray . . . and the prayer will seemingly be answered . . . but most often not. It is not my proposal that there is no god, as the rules of logic prevent a negative from being proved. I have seen no reason whatever to believe in any god, and from what I have read, I wouldn't much like being ruled by an egotistical, hypersensitive being which acted on impulse, and was jealous of that which did not exist. Sounds far too much like a woman I was once married to. Every god I have ever read about was far too human in nature for my liking. But then, faith is defined as belief without reason. To each of you who do believe, I hope it comforts you, if nothing else. I might well point out, however, that without question we are more than the sum of our physical parts. There is that little thing which I call the mind (not the brain, a physical part) which has not ever been explained, and seemingly comes from nowhere and nothing. The existence of the mind is not evidence which can only be interpreted as having to have come to being by virtue of a god. Neither is eternal life, for that matter. I rather like the statement of Arthur Eddington: "Not only is the universe stranger than we imagine, it is stranger than we can imagine." A mere god is rather prosaic, as far as I am concerned, and far too easy to imagine. Reality will be far, far more complex than that. |
