That wasn't a peanut at the center of J. Paulette Potts' M&M's candy. Potts, of Atlanta, said she found a bone while eating one of the treats. Pott said she discovered the offending item in a blue candy last Friday, after she bit down on something that her teeth wouldn't go though. She brought the bone to a biology professor, who identified it as a mammal vertebra -- although which mammal, he couldn't say. "It's definitely bone, and it came from some type of mammal," the professor, Larry Blumer, told. Potts has not filed a lawsuit against the candy's manufacturer. Source |

I'm not sure what I'd do if something like that happened to me. A friend of mine did find a fingernail once in a water ice he ordered. He was so disgusted he refused to go to the place again. It's right down the street from us and he used to be there almost every day during the summer. Three years later and he still refuses to go.

If it makes you feel any better, and I'm sure it won't....the FDA actually has a standard for acceptable levels of foreign debris in food. Chocolate (or so I read somewhere) often contains insects and other vermin. Most likely said bone found in M&M is from a rodent..... |

Ewwww...that's just gross...but yes Mule they do have a limit to how many spiders, flies, etc,. is still FDA approved.. Here's a gross story for ya all.....I worked in a bakery deli years ago and had just closed the chipper down for the night when some guy comes in and asks for 10lb of chipped ham in individual 1lb packages...while I grumbled over to the slicer...I had to fill the order...on the last 1lb package...BLAM! my left hand went flying and I got caught by the slicer with my ring finger on my left hand. Erm needless to say I had to go to the hospital...after I went back to work a couple days later..I asked the girl what happened to that last pound of meat with a piece of my finger in it..she said...I guess the guy got it!!!! So while he might have been thinkin he had chipped ham on his sandwich..he apparently had a mystical finger sandwich... Ewwwwwww

Oh my....having worked in a resturant with one of those slicers for 9 years, I could see (and feel) that one coming all the way!! Eesh....Those babies are sharp alright. (I've since graduated to machines that will remove entire limbs) |

yes my finger healed max but I can't play the guitar like I use to..cuz that part of my finger is numb. Didn't lose the whole finger but took a nice chunk outta it...a chipped ham chunk Yes Mule....Mystertikal deals with those machines that can take limbs off too.. Slicers can be dangerous yes but this one that got me malefunctioned and was taken out. wasn't my fault...Even with the guard it still got me...it wasn't painful till afterwards..OMG...thump.thump thump for like 3 days...OUCH! |

I traveled a fair amount with my second wife. To countries that were not in the same class of food inspection and the like as the US. Now my wife at the time would always insist that she be told what the ingredients in the food were. Not me. My attitude was, "Please don't tell me anything about what it is made of. If I like the taste, I will eat more of it, and if I don't like the taste, I won't eat all of it, and won't order it again." I might add, my wife of the time managed to get herself ill every time we travelled. I never did. |
