A "friend" of Vice President Joseph Biden's daughter, Ashley, is attempting to hawk a videotape that he claims shows her snorting cocaine at a house party this month in Delaware. The anonymous male acquaintance of Ashley took the video, said Thomas Dunlap, a lawyer representing the seller. Dunlap and a man claiming to be a lawyer showed The Post about 90 seconds of 43-minute tape, saying it was legally obtained and that Ashley was aware she was being filmed. The Post refused to pay for the video. The video, which the shooter initially hoped to sell for $2 million before scaling back his price to $400,000, shows a 20-something woman with light skin and long brown hair taking a red straw from her mouth, bending over a desk, inserting the straw into her nostril and snorting lines of white powder. She then stands up and begins talking with other people in the room. A young man looks on from behind her, facing the camera. The lawyers said he was Ashley's boyfriend of a few years. The camera follows the woman from a few feet away, focusing on her as she moves around the room. It appears not to be concealed. At one point she shouts, "Shut the f--- up!" The woman appears to resemble Ashley Biden, 27, a social worker for a Delaware child-welfare agency and a visible presence during her father's campaign for the White House. The dialogue is difficult to discern, but the woman makes repeated references to the drugs, said the lawyers, who said they viewed the tape about 15 times. "At one point she pretty much complains that the line isn't big enough," said the second lawyer, who declined to identify himself. "And she talks about her dad." Biden has been an outspoken crusader against drugs, coining the term "drug czar" in 1982 while campaigning for a more forceful "war on drugs." The lawyers declined to name the person who shot the video, but said he knew Ashley well and had attended other parties with her at which there were illegal drugs. The lawyers said the shooter used a camera with a hard-disc drive that he later destroyed, drilling into the device and tossing it into a lake. The woman in the video acknowledges the camera in a way that makes it clear she knows she's being recorded, the lawyers said, waving at it during a part of the video not shown to The Post. No one else in the video is seen using the drugs. The portion of the tape shown to The Post ends shortly after the woman's alleged ingestion. The shooter claims that he previously tape-recorded Ashley at a party in August, but was unsuccessful in his attempts to sell that video, they said. An American media company offered $250,000 for the footage and access to the person who shot the tape, according to the lawyers. Another company, based overseas, offered $225,000, they said. The unnamed lawyer hinted that his client had additional information that could embarrass the vice president's daughter. "The higher the price, the more he'll reveal," said the lawyer. The lawyers said the video shooter was afraid of being identified and prosecuted for his role in the alleged drug use. "He's got a criminal-defense attorney," said Dunlap, who has offices in Virginia and the District of Columbia. The other lawyer said Ashley didn't have Secret Service protection at the time of the party because she complained about agents blocking her driveway. "She complained to her dad about it and he got rid of them," he said. This isn't the first brush with scandal for Ashley, who was arrested in 2002 when she yelled at a cop trying to arrest her disorderly friend outside a Chicago club, according to published report. She was charged with obstructing, but the rap was later dropped after she apologized. Ashley is the youngest of three siblings, and the only one born to the vice president and his second wife, Jill. Joe Biden's first wife, Neilia, and 13-month-old daughter, Naomi, died in a 1972 car crash. Her two half-brothers are Beau, 40, and Hunter, 39. Phone messages left at the offices of Vice President Biden and Jill Biden, who were in Chile last night for meetings with South American leaders on economic issues, were not immediately returned. Ashley also did not respond to messages left at her Delaware home. Source Since the left liked to take shots at the Bush twins for underage drinking, they better be able to take it as well as dish it out.

What's the point though? Should I really care if the Vice Presidents 27-year old daughter is snorting cocaine? As far as I know there are numerous reports of George Bush Jr. himself having actually used cocaine in his past. I think he has also admitted before that he use to consume far too much alcohol. As for his daughters, I don't think there was that much of an outcry when they were found drinking underage. It really doesn't matter to me either. Now if the President, or Vice President themselves were doing this, it'd be a different situation since their the ones actually running the country. It'd also be different if the children were under 18 years old, because then they are still under the care of their parents. Either way, I know there are things I've done that I'd be less than thrilled about if it was recorded or photogrpahed for the general publics consumption. I believe that's the case for all of us. Hearing stuff like this is no different than the paparazzi showing me pics of Britney Spears scarfing down a burger or something - what's it matter to me? |

I actually agree with Left Field on this issue, who the hell cares what the kids are doing other then the fact their parents are in the public eye as Political Officials. If Joe Homeless had a daughter doing Coke, no one would give 2 rips. |

It is less that a girl is snorting cocaine . . . it is that her father has sponsored draconian federal laws against the same thing. But you can bet that no one in the DEA will be going after Biden's daughter. It is long since time we ended Nixon's "war on liberal college students" which it was all about to start with. |

apparently the media thinks that people like you and me are interested in this sort of nonsense. I mean so this is a parental issue that needs to be dealt with from father and daughter. But the paparazzi is so wound tight that if biden farted at a press conference and they catch it well bad crap is going down. lol Edited by Darknight, Mar 29 2009, 05:22 PM.

Well, I suppose it's a parental issue in the sense that Biden is her father. The girl is 27 though. She's responsible for her own decisions. Joe Biden has little to do with it. And regarding the paparazzi, they (and the magazines that publish their photos) exist for a reason. And that's because while me and you (in the general sense) think the stuff is a waste of time, there are people out there that eat it up, whether it be teenagers or adults. Talking about the paparazzi here would be getting off topic though. If Biden's daughter was still under his care, than it would bother me a bit. But since she isn't, I don't really see it as a reflection on Biden. |

I can see where Biden is freaking out a bit on this subject. While true his daughter is able to make her own decisions as to what to do with her life the name still runs in the family and would give mr.biden here a bad rep cause he let his daughter snort. |

But that's the thing... she's 27. Biden didn't let her snort anything. She did it on her own. I'd be more concerned about how it reflects on Biden if his daughter was caught making rascist comments as opposed to her getting caught using drugs. |

True she is of the age where parental assistance is no longer required. I do not see where this has to be related to Biden other than the simple fact its his kid. If the people was so concearn about this why don't they just talk about her life instead of all this leading its way toward JB when Joe here had nothing to do with the situation. |

So tell me just how the DEA is going to deal with Joe Biden's daughter. DEA isn't going to, but the DEA is going to continue to put others in jail for doing no worse. Just as the Feds amd other law enforcement agencies have been busy busting medical marijuana operations up in CA. But when it is someone with political connections, all they have to do is go to some clinic or other. Never jail like the "commoners" have to. http://www.cnn.com/2008/CRIME/05/06/sdsu.bust/index.html College drug sting snags justice, security majors, scores of others About 100 people, including students majoring in homeland security and criminal justice, were arrested Tuesday in an undercover drug sting at San Diego State University, officials said. Among those arrested, 75 were students, one of them a criminal justice major charged with possession of guns and cocaine, authorities said. One student allegedly dealing cocaine was a month short of obtaining a master's degree in homeland security at the California school and worked under campus police as a student community service officer. "They weren't picky about who they sold to," he said, alleging that undercover officers would simply call them and say, " 'Hey, I heard you deal. Will you sell to me?' "And they did." He said the students face charges that include possession for sale and sale of cocaine, ecstasy and marijuana. Betcha if any of them have political connections, it will all "just go away". |
