Vampire vs. Innocence
Poem
by Helen

Through the forest,
Of sliding shadows weeping,
I feel your breath on my neck,
Your vampire blood shrieking.

As I turn to gaze upon your eyes,
Cold shiver whispers through my spine,
Sinking deeper and deeper
Into my warm, but deserted heart.

Your eyes are cold, but yet so charming...
"Would you let me in your cruel world,
To feel the darkness you feel now,
To embrace the curse you have been cursed?"

Your smile fades away,
As you close your haunting eyes,
Your innocence I cannot kill
But it shall be only mine.

It reminds me of a story I've read of which I enjoyed very much.

it's only missing the driving -- in a single blow -- of an aspen, ash, or white thorn stake
or sure placement of a silver bullet -- pure silver -- by a pure priest
but I like it -- very very much -- it is painfully poignant -- remindful of a rich fantasy I simply can't put down...

Sounds like an interesting fantasy that must be shared.

They were the nights of fall. Those just before the the first leaves fell, without the icy drafts were the best. I had never given much thought to how many times I had happened past her old home in the last year alone. Yet where she had gone, where she was now, never escaped my mind. The most potent of memories was the image of her face in the sunset that afternoon.
She was so happy that day. Our first day in the city. She had no idea that that sunset would be her last, as well as mine.
She was young then. Only sixteen years at the time. So full of color and life. Piled upon my few lasting memories of her, the guilt had begun to crystallize. I now dwell less on the happiest of times, more on how I wish she were here now, and what she would look like. I wonder how I could have changed things, if I could have stronger for her.
They say regret can tear you apart inside. Perhaps 93 years is a long time to feel sorry for oneself.

I am the mist that clouds the mind
Who hides from God, and feeds on your cries.
I watch from the shadows with yellow eyes,
The cause of the chills along your spine
