I'm sure that we all have a crush or two on a fictional character, on a person that exists only in a book, movie, TV show, or our dreams. And why not? The best characters live on because they are a reflection of ourselves, or what our ideal selves are or wish to be. So, having started this, who are my fictional crushes? First, my newest: ![]() Sheryl Nome from Macross Frontier. I crush on Sheryl because she is a surprise. She seems designed as a rich-bitch popstar girl, the kind I love to hate, and to get us to love the other female lead, Ranka, more. But, the show surprises us. Sheryl is actually sweet and kind, a young woman who delights in the small things that normal folks take for granted. She's lonely and vulnerable, and wants very much to be loved as Sheryl, not as the superstar Idol "Galaxy's Slyph". I could love a woman like that, and Sheryl is very alive to me. ![]() Who's next? Do any of you crush on Aragorn, or Han Solo, or Jessica Rabbit?

Early on was Joy from the Bugaloos, talking like age six or seven... ![]() Princess from Battle of the Planets/G-Force/Science Super Ninja Team something or other Gatchaman I crushed on Cyndi Lauper who is not fictional but was out of my teen year old grasp and still is I suppose. So she might as well be fictional right? At age twelve I was crushing on Dana Sterling from the Robotech cartoon, assertive strong woman with short hair. Later it was Kei from the anime series, The Dirty Pair, as she was another strong assertive woman with short hair. Pre-teen years were spent pining for Tegan Jovanka from the fourth/mostly fifth Doctor's run on Doctor Who. I still get a quick heartbeat thinking about Janet Fielding, the actress who played her. I crushed on Elvira for awhile cause she watched the same crappy movies I watched. Nevermind her.. assets.. she wore nylon and had those legs... Then I crushed on Edna St. Vincent Millay who was over two decades passed away before I was even born... Real again, but not exactly someone I could ask out. Alas, what high school girl could live up to her? I crushed on Penny Dreadful from a World of Darkness book but she was the kind of stuck up psuedo-goth girl that wouldn't give my leather jacketed mohawk headed self the time of day back then. These days I have no idea. Anyone know any fictional females that are strong, assertive, and with short hair? |

I totally loved Elvira. When I were a lad, it was Wonder Woman for me. I enjoy those "crappy" movies too. Inner Sanctum Mysteries radio show was my favorite as a lad, along with The Shadow "Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men? The Shadow knows!" .

Oooh, too many to think of right now! And some of them are specific to one media, at the expense of other media (Wolverine as played by Hugh Jackman in the first movie, but not the other movies, and not the comic book... and not Hugh Jackman out of character, for example)... Spock in one particular image... Howl in Howl's Moving Castle... almost anyone with breasts... Deidre from Menage a 3... I'll have to come back to this. |
