Pickle barrel, pickle barrel, Kumquat!
|
Hi guys. ![]() I have a question that's been bugging me. Sometimes when I pass someone, like in a grocery store, I get this uncontrollable shudder that goes through me. No amount of willpower can stop it, and it happens with almost 33% of the people that pass within a few feet of me. The only thing I can think of is it's something to do with auras. Does that make sense? Or is it something else? And what can I do about it? Thanks.

That is the trait of an Empath. I have an article that helped me years ago with this. Here it is. It's a couple pages, read thru and see if you connect with anything ![]() http://healing.about.com/cs/empathic/a/uc_empathtraits.htm |

Thanks, Princess! It makes sense, and I can see a lot of those traits in myself. It's funny, I am "closed off" a lot, a loner. Maybe I'm trying to shield myself? |

That tends to be a "learned behavior" for someone who is empathic. I too tend to "avoid" at times because I have found it's the only way to settle my mind. When one has these traits, sometimes being in public causes a barrage of feelings that aren't even yours. It's most important to first learn to SEPARATE your own true feelings from those you pick up from someone else. You can pick up feelings of sadness and feel grief when you yourself are actually happy and have no reason to be sad. So, learning to separate and block on a healthy level is important. Be aware that not only can this happen in person, but also ANY sort of contact, including computers can effect someone with Empath traits. I'm thinking you tend to be a "loner" because that's the way you learned to deal with overwhelming or odd emotions or feelings you might not have been able to explain and it is absolutely NORMAL to react that way. When you feel certain emotions/feelings ask yourself where they came from and get to the heart of the matter. The more you learn to do that, the simpler it becomes to see it in the onset and block or avoid or protect yourself. I will help you any way I can; although i am no expert. I only know what I have experienced and what helps me. Love ya Maxie

Love you too, Princess! ![]() Thank you so much for the advice, I'm going to try analyzing those feelings from now on. This empathic thing seems to explain so much of why it's hard to be around people - even thru Forums sometimes! |

Oh yes!! If one is sensitive there's no end to ways it can effect you....including computers. Please let me know if you have any questions. I will try my best to answer. I have to say I already thought you KNEW you were Empath? In my eyes, you are a classic case. When we "find" each other we tend to form strong friendships too. Sorry we didn't talk about this sooner. It can be really hard sometimes dealing with the traits we have. Love you tons sweetie and have a great night

Thanks Sweetie - I love you too! Well, I knew I was "sensitive" but I never realized how deep it went. Thanks to your advice, I feel like I can take some control over it.

very interesting. i have a thought too...guess it's along the lines of being empathic or sensitive....maybe you can "see" what those ppl are feeling or thinking at the time. like when ppl that are "open" see spirits or supernatural things. maybe you are more open to see them for what they truly are or what they are thinkin. |

The Man!!!

I am an empath myself, and have always been a loner. A dreadful thing to be, it is. I managed to go forward in spite of it, and figured out fairly early in life that there was no way I could much about others' problems, and that I couldn't solve other peoples problems. All you can do, Max, in my experience, is just push on, and largely ignore it. Keep in mind that just because a person is a paranoid, it doesn't mean that there aren't those who are "out to get you". Lots of crazies wandering about, and it does no harm to keep your guard up, so long as you don't allow it to run your life. |
