The rabbit moved, carefully and methodically, closer towards the pond. Skulking through the dew-soaked foliage, it reached the water's edge and began lapping up the crisp liquid. Unknown to it, a predator lurked. Its pair of yellow eyes seeking its next meal. Swift as shadow, the wolf moved from brush to brush, careful not to break the morning silence. Soon it was merely a few meters away from the rabbit, and hunger drove it to pounce. Unfortunately, the rabbit's ears perked as it became aware of the wolf's presence. Instinctively, the rabbit called forth a power into its legs, bolting with immense speed away from the wolf. Thus the chase began, though curiously both animals remained near to the pond, circling it as the rabbit dodged left to right, right to left, avoiding the wolf's snapping jaws by mere centimeters. The wolf, its eyes aglow with frustration, felt the innate power and took from it, and the next lunge struck true and pierced the rabbit's flesh. The rabbit's last squeal resounded throughout the forest, and the elf sitting in the tree opened her eyes.
She finally understood, after months of meditation, how to use it. This game of nature drew upon the power it has always drew upon; the energy of the universe. After witnessing the animal's struggle and their use of the power, along with her own understanding achieved from the meditation, the elf women began to feel the power all the more clearly. Finally, she put it to the test. Hoping down from the tree she drew the power into her lungs, and the descent was swift yet harmless. She landed without harm and dragged the power out of the earth once more, this time into her legs as she ran towards the lake. With the surge, the leaped clear across the pond and hurdled towards the wolf, the rabbit in its jaws. Once more, the elf felt the energies and drew them into herself, this time focusing in the fist, as she slammed the wolf with all her might. The powerful blow blew the wolf's jaw out the other side of its head, the rabbit being carried with it, and the eyes of the wolf dimmed as its body fell. The women held her attacking pose, amazed at the series of feats she accomplished. Normally weaponry was required to harm these animals effectively, normally a certain technique was required to fall from a tree without harm, never before had anyone made such a leap! She knew she was on the cusp of something great, an understanding of the power of nature- no, this was not nature's doing, this is the power of the world itself. With this power, she could ensure the peace and longevity of her people!
The female elf recomposed herself, thanked the animals for their sacrifice, and carried them away to her village. She would first develop her skill before telling her tribe of these events. She needed to perfect herself before she could teach others.
