Over the past month recruiting Nation/States wide has been much better than expected. Yet many regions have experienced extreme difficulty in recruiting nations. A number of factors contribute to this.

Many Nation/States player are students, over that last month it appears the studies increased and many were preparing for examinations. To my knowledge this is passing.

A number of larger regions increased their recruiting efforts. For those of us who have recruited it was not unusual to see groups of new nations departing for X or Y regions. This can be worked around.

Finally it has not been unusual to find nations displaying less that wholesome or welcoming Mottos. I sure all regions are looking for a nation which promises To Kill Everyone and BBQ the Bodies, or wants everyone to B@te them.

Recruiting is difficult work requiring direction and dedication. A recruiter can easily become frustrated after spending 10 to 15 minutes in the Pacific Feeder regions identifying newly founded regions who have not left the region, reviewing their nation for Flag and motto, checking again they are in region, Copy and pasting the TG and copying a pasting the nations name. Then sending the TG, waiting for the TG to be sent and then backing out again to seek another region to repeat the process. On a good recruiting run this process can be repeated 40 times in a single recruiting run. Then the recruiter returns home waiting for new nations to come rolling in only to find none have accepted the invitations, the recruiter has rec’d TG from those nations that the recruiter environmental recode is not satisfactory, or they head to Y region, and even better what the recruiter can do with their invitation. An active regional recruiter will go through this process 5 to 10 times a day 7 days a weeks.

So can things be changed around?

Can steps be taken to increase the percentages of successful contacts?

Yes I believe it is possible and easily achieved.

One of the first things is to determine who you are likely to recruit at the times the recruiting is done. It could be 8 AM where you are but only 3 AM in the major population areas. So be aware of the time of day in the area you wish to recruit.

What are the major population areas? I feel they are North America, United Kingdom, Europe, Australia/New Zealand, and Japan. So what time is it in Australia right now?
Next think when nations are on line Mid Morning, Mid-Afternoon at night. When are you on line, your friends when is the forum most active. Recruit at these times. Also at the bottom of the world screen in N/S they report the number of nations on-line.

If you notice a number of new nations leaving for X or Y, you leave also and return to that Pacific region later before the other recruiters do another round.

Nation who reply positively to your invite via TG reply even if they have moved (be sure to include something like - In response to your Question….) Always respond.
The bad TG’s look at them, laugh and then delete them.

Another point is the regional Board, it should be welcoming. Many new nations explore from afar and never enter based on the regional message board. Also board posts make a difference. As much as possible keep it light and fun. Dirty Linen should be resolved in Forum. Who wants to join a region having a fight on their board?

That’s pretty much a primer on recruiting.

All I would add is once a new nation arrives greet it the same day with a short welcoming TG.

If your forum verifies members try to do it quickly, it lets new members know you are alert and active. An intro forum is also helpful the new member can be made to feel at home there.
